NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) DIVISION ONE
The NCCAA no longer has football, so I had no posts about them from Aug to Dec.
KNOCKING OFF NUMBER TWO – The 11th ranked INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS visited the number 2 team in the nation – the BETHEL (IN) PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots). The Wildcats put Bethel U. on Upset Alert with their 47-37 Halftime lead, then consummated the Upset 96-86. Caedmon Bontrager led Indiana Wesleyan with 29 points.
CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring at least 100 points in Regulation: The (5) OHIO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY TRAILBLAZERS edged the visiting UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI AT CLERMONT COUGARS 103-102 ### Meanwhile, the (4) NELSON UNIVERSITY LIONS defeated the UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS 106-96 ### And the (6) MALONE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS won 107-80 over the KENT STATE AT TUSCARAWAS GOLDEN EAGLES.
OKLAHOMA ARMAGEDDON – In this game the (8) MID-AMERICA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EVANGELS took the court against the visiting OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE STATE AGGIES (should be Okies). Panhandle State seemed in control, leading MACU 43-32 at Halftime. After the break, the Evangels roared from behind to win the game 78-74 led by 16 points from Clay Baldwin.
NCCAA OVER NCAA DIVISION TWO – The CEDARVILLE UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS visited D2’s TIFFIN UNIVERSITY DRAGONS. Cedarville University was chasing the Dragons 36-31 at the midpoint of the game but ultimately won out 70-68. Fifteen points from Ethan Sellars led the Yellow Jackets to victory.
HITTING THE CENTURY MARK – The GRACE COLLEGE LANCERS made the Century Club in their road game against the GOSHEN COLLEGE MAPLE LEAFS. The Lancers remained undefeated as they led Goshen College 47-32 by Halftime on their way to a 104-83 triumph. Hunter Walson tossed in 18 points to lead Grace College.
NCCAA DIVISION TWO
NEON KNIGHT FOR THE KNIGHTS – The nation’s number 1 team -the SPURGEON COLLEGE KNIGHTS – hosted Neon Knight against the BARCLAY COLLEGE BEARS. The Knights proceeded to fold, spindle and mutilate hapless Barclay College. Spurgeon was on top 64-25 at the Half before winning the game by a Century Club score of 119-45. DJ Middleton’s 20 points led the Knights, while teammate Raven Ortiz got a Double Double of 19 points and 12 assists.
BATTLE IN THE TOP FIVE – The (5) CROWN COLLEGE POLARS clashed with their guests the (3) NORTH CENTRAL UNIVERSITY RAMS. North Central was up 52-45 at the break only for the Polars to come out of the locker room ready for a comeback. In the end, Crown College triumphed 88-85 led by Carmello and Carrington McNeal, each of whom notched 23 points.
ROAD WARRIORS – This game pitted the number 9 OZARK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE AMBASSADORS against the home standing MANHATTAN CHRISTIAN COLLEGE THUNDER. MCC clung to a 39-38 edge to end the opening Half. From there, the Ambassadors took over, ultimately winning the game by a score of 86-76. OCC was led by Trey Main with 26 points and Eric Dillinger with his Double Double of 25 points and 14 rebounds.
HAPPY HOME STAND – The (6) BOB JONES UNIVERSITY BRUINS welcomed the PENSACOLA CHRISTIAN COLLEGE EAGLES (should be Angels). By Halftime the Bruins were on top 40-31. After the break, Bob Jones University got even more separation from PCC for an 88-71 win. Justin Skelton’s 25 points led the Bruins to victory.
FALCONS IN FLIGHT – The (10) SIMMONS COLLEGE OF KENTUCKY FALCONS winged their way to Louisville to take on the BOYCE COLLEGE BULLDOGS. The Falcons never trailed in this game, leading Boyce College 46-38 at Halftime on their way to winning the game 82-67. Twenty-four points from Jonathan Johnson led Simmons.
