Elvis’ January 8th birthday being the same date as the Battle of New Orleans in 1815 have tied the two figures together in a very offbeat way. Here are some samplings of the offspring from these two strange bedfellows.

I WANT EL SANTO AND I WANT HIM NOW!
ORION: THE ELVIS PRESLEY HOAX/ PUT-ON/ TEASE – My examination of life imitating art imitating life down the bizarre rabbit hole of the late 1970s singer Orion and the resulting milking of the whole “Is he really Elvis Presley still alive, after all?” nonsense. Click HERE.
ROCK ‘N’ ROLL VS THE REDCOATS (2015) – The fake musical starring an Elvis impersonator as General Andrew Jackson and a female impersonator as Ann-Margret playing pirate Jean Lafitte. General Elvis defends New Orleans from a British Invasion spearheaded by an army of pastiches of English rock stars of the 1960s. Click HERE.
CHANGE OF HABIT (1969) – My review of the very real movie in which Elvis plays a physician (cough) who works in a free clinic in the ghetto. Mary Tyler Moore portrays a nun who works at the clinic “undercover” as in wearing civilian clothing and not telling Dr. Elvis she’s a sister. Mary starts to fall for the Man from Memphis, making her rethink her commitment to the sisterhood. All that plus Ed Asner, the guy who played Luca Brasi, A. Martinez and songs! Click HERE.
ELVIS MOVIES FOR JANUARY EIGHTH – For Elvis’ birthday I reviewed five of his films – Love Me Tender, Loving You, Jailhouse Rock, King Creole and G.I. Blues. Click HERE.

Wonderful post. As a huge fan of Elvis Presley, I found this to be an incredibly interesting post to read. As far back as I can remember, I have always been a huge fan of the singer. I grew up listening to his music which was such a huge part of my childhood.
Thank you very much!
That is so weird that this cool oddity showed up! My mom was an Elvis fan. I occasionally do somewhat of a Swedish Death Cleaning, & it hurt to part with my mom’s Elvis collection – a batch of stuff I sold on Ebay. Someone from Germany bought it & I added to it a treat I found between the purchase notification & the packaging process. I also added a note of appreciation that it was going somewhere it was appreciated, along with why I was adding the extra something I had just found. There was a problem in cross-country shipping & I have been bothered for months as to where those items were in limbo. But, literally, just yesterday, I saw a review. Not only did the recipient finally get the collection, but he left a stellar review about the seller regarding the personal note & all! I think we bloggers are tapped into a collective subconscious, no doubt, at times!
There you go! Good thought and I’m glad that worked out for you.
