BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF RESULTS: NOV 30th

NAIA

ROUND TWO: GAME ONE – The BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS played host to the CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS. The Ravens led 7-0 in the 1st Quarter but Campbellsville U. was on top 17-7 by Halftime. From there, Benedictine College shut out the Tigers while adding a Touchdown in the 3rd and 4th Quarters each. The Ravens won 21-17.

ROUND TWO: GAME TWO – In this game the MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS entertained the DORDT UNIVERSITY DEFENDERS. A 6-0 opening Quarter edge for the Knights became 14-0 at the Half. After the break, the Defenders outscored Marian University 18-12 but that still left them short as the Knights logged a 26-18 triumph. 

ROUND TWO: GAME THREE – The MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS took the field against the visiting CARROLL (MT) COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS. The Orediggers had it all their own way at first and took a 17-0 advantage into the locker room. The Fighting Saints rallied in the 3rd Quarter, pulling to within 24-21 of Montana Tech, but the Orediggers won out 31-21 in the 4th.

ROUND TWO: GAME FOUR – Up next, the FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS defended their home field against the WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN. The Falcons led William Penn University 21-9, 42-16 and 50-22 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters, respectively. In the 4th, Friends University kept the Statesmen far enough behind for a 53-36 victory.

ROUND TWO: GAME FIVE – In Caldwell, ID the COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES collided with the MORNINGSIDE UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. Come Halftime the Coyotes were up 20-7. That turned into a 23-7 College of Idaho lead to end the 3rd Quarter. The 4th saw the Mustangs offense come alive a little, but the Coyotes still won 37-19.

ROUND TWO: GAME SIX – The LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS welcomed the INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS. This was a tale of two contrasting Halves. The 1st ended in a 24-8 Wildcats advantage, but the 3rd Quarter ended with Lindsey Wilson College on top 36-31. In the 4th, the Blue Raiders made it a 57-31 triumph. 

ROUND TWO: GAME SEVEN – Yesterday the KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS played the visiting SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE. The Seahawks parlayed their 7-0 1st Quarter lead into a commanding 27-9 advantage at the break. From there, Keiser University outscored the Fire 17-7 to win the game 44-16.

ROUND TWO: GAME EIGHT – This game pitted the defending national champions – the GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS (should be Zebras) – against their guests, the UNIVERSITY OF ST. FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS. This was a thoroughly lopsided affair as the Vikings were on top 41-13 come Halftime, then won by a final tally of 62-20. 

NCAA DIVISION TWO

SECOND ROUND: GAME ONE – The FROSTBURG STATE BOBCATS took it on the road against the CALIFORNIA (PA) UNIVERSITY VULCANS. A 7-0 opening Quarter lead for the Vulcans became a 14-7 advantage at the Half. A big 3rd Quarter ended with the Bobcats up 20-14 and the 4th came to a close with Frostburg State winning out 23-21.

SECOND ROUND: GAME TWO – The UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT THE PERMIAN BASIN FALCONS visited the WESTERN COLORADO UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS. The defenses dominated the 1st Half, which ended with the Mountaineers up 12-0. Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter but in the 4th UTPB forced OT with a 15-15 tie. The Falcons emerged with a 21-15 OT victory.

SECOND ROUND: GAME THREE – In this game the NEWBERRY COLLEGE WOLVES battled it out with the home standing UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS. A 14-0 opening Quarter advantage for the Wolves was cut to 17-14 at Halftime. The Argonauts made it a 17-17 deadlock in the 3rd Quarter, but Newberry College won the game 24-17 from there.

SECOND ROUND: GAME FOUR – The MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS were on the road at the UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie became a 21-7 Mavericks lead at the midpoint. The 3rd Quarter ended with Minnesota State up 28-14 and the 4th came to a close with a 35-27 Mavericks defeat of the Greyhounds.

SECOND ROUND: GAME FIVE – On Saturday the ALBANY (GA) STATE GOLDEN RAMS welcomed the BENEDICT COLLEGE TIGERS. The Golden Rams led BC 7-3 after 1 Quarter of play but just 7-6 come Halftime. A scoreless 3rd Quarter was followed by a 4th in which a failed 2-point conversion for the Tigers gave Albany State a 14-12 victory. 

SECOND ROUND: GAME SIX – The HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON took on the visiting PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS. The Bison were out in front of Pittsburg State 6-0, 20-0 and 34-7 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters respectively. The 4th saw Harding University keep the Gorillas at arm’s length to win the game 37-21.

SECOND ROUND: GAME SEVEN – Next, the FERRIS STATE BULLDOGS faced their guests the ASHLAND UNIVERSITY EAGLES. The opening Quarter ended in a 14-14 tie and the 2nd in a 28-17 Bulldogs lead. From there, Ferris State took charge, going on top of the Eagles 49-17 in the 3rd Quarter and dispatching them 56-24 to end the 4th.

SECOND ROUND: GAME EIGHT – Wrapping up the 2nd Round was this game between the KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN BEARS and the visiting ASSUMPTION UNIVERSITY GREYHOUNDS. The Golden Bears seized control of the game with a 21-3 advantage in the 1st Quarter. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th Quarters ended with Kutztown University leading the Greyhounds by counts of 28-6, 42-12 and 56-18.

NCAA DIVISION THREE

ROUND TWO: GAME ONE – The SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY RIVERHAWKS paid a call on the CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS. The Riverhawks led CNU 14-7 in the opening Quarter and 21-7 at Halftime. The two teams exchanged Touchdowns from there as the 3rd Quarter ended with SU up 28-14 and the 4th in a 42-28 Riverhawks victory.

ROUND TWO: GAME TWO – The UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT LACROSSE EAGLES traveled to face the HOPE COLLEGE FLYING DUTCHMEN. This weirdest game of the day was a defensive clinic. Neither team put up points AT ALL in the entire 1st Half. UW-Lacrosse went up 9-0 in the 3rd Quarter and won 9-7 in the 4th.

ROUND TWO: GAME THREE – This game saw the DEPAUW UNIVERSITY TIGERS visit the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER WARHAWKS. A scoreless 1st Quarter was followed by a 10-7 Tigers edge at the Half. A 17-17 deadlock ended the 3rd Quarter before DePauw U. wound up defeating the Warhawks in the 4th, 26-23. 

ROUND TWO: GAME FOUR – The WHEATON COLLEGE THUNDER paid a call on the WARTBURG COLLEGE KNIGHTS. The Knights converted their 13-7 lead in the 1st Quarter into a 16-7 advantage going into the locker room. The Thunder made it a 16-14 game to close out Quarter number 3 before coming from behind from there for a 28-24 triumph.   

ROUND TWO: GAME FIVE – Next, the BERRY UNIVERSITY VIKINGS welcomed the LAGRANGE COLLEGE PANTHERS. The Vikings held an 8-7 edge over LaGrange in the opening Quarter, but the Panthers went up 14-8 by Halftime. Berry University shut out LaGrange from there while adding 10 more points for themselves to win 18-14. 

ROUND TWO: GAME SIX – The EASTERN UNIVERSITY EAGLES visited the FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE DIPLOMATS. Eastern University put the Diplomats on Upset Alert with their 21-14 advantage at the Half. Franklin & Marshall pulled to within 21-17 in the 3rd Quarter but the Eagles logged a 28-24 Upset victory.

ROUND TWO: GAME SEVEN – The SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS played host to the hapless ENDICOTT COLLEGE GULLS in this game. It was a tale of 2 Halves, with the Sea Gulls dominating the 1st 20-7 but Endicott making their move in the 2nd. A 28-28 tie ended the 3rd Quarter before Salisbury won 35-28 in the 4th.

ROUND TWO: GAME EIGHT – This game pitted the TRINITY (TX) TIGERS against their guests the HARDIN-SIMMONS UNIVERSITY COWBOYS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie changed to a 20-14 Tigers lead at Halftime. After the break, Trinity outscored the Cowboys 14-10 to move on to the next round by a score of 34-24.

ROUND TWO: GAMES NINE TO ELEVEN – Bird team wins: The JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUEJAYS routed the SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE PRIDE 34-14   ###   Meanwhile, the NORTH CENTRAL COLLEGE CARDINALS trounced the HANOVER COLLEGE PANTHERS 38-6   ###   And the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT RIVER FALLS FALCONS downed the CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY PANTHERS 58-7.

ROUND TWO: GAMES TWELVE & THIRTEEN – “Colorful” wins: The UNIVERSITY OF MOUNT UNION PURPLE RAIDERS smacked down the visiting MUHLENBERG COLLEGE MULES by a tally of 49-7    ###    And the JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY BLUE STREAKS defeated the RANDOLPH-MACON COLLEGE YELLOWJACKETS 35-6.

ROUND TWO: GAMES FOURTEEN TO SIXTEEN – Varying margins: The UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT PLATTEVILLE PIONEERS beat the ALMA COLLEGE SCOTS 24-7   ###   Elsewhere, the BETHEL (MN) ROYALS won 51-26 over the COE COLLEGE KOHAWKS   ###   And the ST. JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES clobbered the MONMOUTH COLLEGE FIGHTING SCOTS 49-15.

NJCAA

*** No games this week. Their playoffs begin next Friday.

CCCAA

FIRST QUARTERFINAL – The GOLDEN WEST COLLEGE RUSTLERS clashed with the visiting VENTURA COLLEGE PIRATES. 7-7 was the opening Quarter score before the Rustlers went on top 21-14 by Halftime. The Pirates went up 24-21 to end the 3rd Quarter, but in the 4th Golden West College exploded offensively for a 56-38 victory.

SECOND QUARTERFINAL – In this game the COLLEGE OF SAN MATEO BULLDOGS hosted the FRESNO CITY COLLEGE RAMS. A 6-3 1st Quarter edge for the Rams became a 13-6 midpoint advantage for the College of San Mateo. From there, the Bulldogs left Fresno further and further behind – 27-13 in the 3rd Quarter and 34-13 to end the 4th.

THIRD QUARTERFINAL – The SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS defended their home field against the MOUNT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES. The Gauchos surprised Mt. SAC with their dominance. Saddleback College led 14-7, 28-14 and 49-14 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters respectively. The 4th saw the team polish off the Mounties 58-28.

FOURTH QUARTERFINAL – Next, the MODESTO COLLEGE PIRATES welcomed the DIABLO VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS (should be Green Devils). A scoreless opening Quarter was followed by a 21-7 Halftime advantage for the Pirates. Neither team scored again in the 3rd Quarter and Modesto College finished off DVC 35-7 in the 4th.
