NUMBER FOUR TAKES A FALL – In NCAA Division 3, the number 12 BETHEL (MN) ROYALS welcomed the nation’s 4th ranked ST. JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES in this game. A 3-0 Royals edge to end the 1st Quarter became a 10-10 tie at the midpoint. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter, the 4th saw Bethel University dispatch the Johnnies 17-10.
KNOCKING OFF NUMBER SIX – NCAA Division 2’s 7th ranked UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT THE PERMIAN BASIN FALCONS were on the road against the number 6 team in the nation – the ANGELO STATE RAMS. By Halftime the Falcons were on top 21-7 before Angelo State cut that to 21-14 in the 3rd Quarter. UT-Permian Basin consummated the mild Upset 28-14 in the 4th.
DOWN GOES NUMBER TEN – In the NAIA, the FLORIDA MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY LIONS paid a visit to the 10th ranked team in the country – the SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE. A 10-0 1st Quarter lead for the Fire was cut to a mere 17-14 edge over their opponents by the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Lions up 21-20 and the 4th in a 28-23 FMU win.
MARATHON GAME OF THE WEEK – In this game the NAIA’s MAYVILLE STATE COMETS took the field against the visiting DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS. A 14-7 Blue Hawks advantage at Halftime turned into a 21-21 tie to end the 4th Quarter. A 24-24 deadlock ended the 1st Overtime, the 2nd OT ended in another tie, but in the 3rd the Comets beat Dickinson State 34-32.
CATS OVER BIRDS – The LOUISIANA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS battled the Independent UNIVERSITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE EAGLES (should be the Flamingos). The Wildcats, out of the NAIA, seized a quick 21-0 advantage over their guests in the opening Quarter. From there, LCU coasted to an authoritative 42-6 triumph.
EIGHTY-NINE – This game down in the NJCAA pitted the GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS against the visiting COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE (MI) LIONS. The Broncbusters folded, spindled and mutilated their opponents, leading them 13-0 in the 1st Quarter and 55-0 at the Half. After the break GCC put away the Lions EIGHTY-NINE to NOTHING.
BASEBALL SCORE? – At the other end of the spectrum was this D3 game between the UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS and the traveling MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERS. The defenses dominated as a 3-3 Halftime tie ultimately became a 6-3 win for the Mariners.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The 12th ranked CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS defended their home field against the invading number 11 GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS by defeating them 49-34 ### And the HASTINGS COLLEGE BRONCOS eked out a 10-9 victory at the 22nd ranked NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS.
OFF THE SCHNEID – The POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS at last got off the schneid for the 2025 season as they welcomed the BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS. Neither team scored in the 1st Quarter, but by Halftime the Skyhawks were up 13-0. After the break, each team added 14 points to their tally as Point University triumphed 27-14.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS came out on top 34-26 against the STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS ### Meanwhile, the WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS defeated the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS 34-27 ### And the MISSOURI VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS edged the ST. AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES 30-28.
WE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE OUT – Up next, the EVANGEL UNIVERSITY VALOR took the field against the visiting KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES. This was a defensive clinic and by the midpoint the Coyotes led by just 3-0. That became 6-0 in the 3rd Quarter before the Valor got a TD in the 4th for a 7-6 win.
ROAD WARRIORS – The (15) OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT carved up the LANGSTON UNIVERSITY LIONS to the tune of 52-10 ### The UNIVERSITY OF ST. MARY SPIRES won 31-7 at the TABOR COLLEGE BLUEJAYS ### And the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS smothered the UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE (OH) RED STORM 42-6.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The SETON HILL UNIVERSITY GRIFFINS took it on the road against the number 11 CALIFORNIA (PA) UNIVERSITY VULCANS and beat them 16-7 ### Elsewhere, the GANNON UNIVERSITY GOLDEN KNIGHTS won 38-35 over the 16th ranked SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY ROCK ### And the EMORY & HENRY COLLEGE WASPS defeated the (22) CARSON-NEWMAN EAGLES 19-13.
DOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – This game pitted the UNIVERSITY OF MARY MARAUDERS against the home standing UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES. The Marauders struck hard and often, leading the University of Jamestown 27-0 by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with UM up 37-7 and the 4th in a 44-22 defeat of the Jimmies.
ALL NAME GAMES – The INDIANA UNIVERSITY IN PENNSYLVANIA CRIMSON HAWKS clobbered the EDINBORO UNIVERSITY FIGHTING SCOTS 35-12 ### Next, the UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS beat the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM 23-9 ### And the UNC-PEMBROKE BRAVES won 44-7 at the ERSKINE COLLEGE FLYING FLEET.
TWO-POINT WONDER – The BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUES played host to the SHAW UNIVERSITY BEARS yesterday. The Big Blues watched their 22-7 1st Quarter advantage melt to just 22-19 at the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended with Bluefield State up 29-26 over the Bears before they held on in the 4th to win the game by a final tally of 35-33.
WORKING OVERTIME – First up, the MINNESOTA STATE AT MOORHEAD DRAGONS registered a 40-37 extra session victory over their guests the MINOT STATE BEAVERS ### And a missed PAT was the difference as the NEWBERRY COLLEGE WOLVES took down the visiting WINGATE UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS 43-42 in Overtime.
NCAA DIVISION THREE
OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The number 15 UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT OSHKOSH TITANS toppled the visiting 11th ranked UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT RIVER FALLS FALCONS 21-17 ### And the WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY GENERALS traveled to face the 24th ranked HAMPDEN-SYDNEY TIGERS and defeated them 42-34.
ONE-POINT WONDER – In this game the FRANKLIN COLLEGE GRIZZLIES were guests of the MUSKINGUM UNIVERSITY MUSKIES. Come Halftime the Grizzlies were out in front by a score of 28-20, but Muskingum pulled to within 28-27 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th, Franklin College held on in a 34-33 win over the Muskies.
PUTTING IN OVERTIME – The COLBY COLLEGE WHITE MULES won 13-6 in an extra session at the BATES COLLEGE BOBCATS ### The BELHAVEN UNIVERSITY BLAZERS beat the visiting BREVARD COLLEGE TORNADOES 23-20 in Overtime ### And in Double OT the (23) CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS prevailed 49-41 at the ROWAN UNIVERSITY PROFS.
ROAD SHUTOUT – The LAKE FOREST COLLEGE FORESTERS found themselves on the road against the RIPON COLLEGE REDHAWKS. The Foresters led 7-0, 14-0 and 28-0 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters, respectively. In the 4th, Lake Forest College secured their ONE HUNDREDTH WIN as they downed the Redhawks 38-0.
INSTANT CLASSICS – The PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY LUTES survived a 31-28 visit from the WILLAMETTE UNIVERSITY BEARCATS ### Next, the FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE DIPLOMATS won 35-28 at the GETTYSBURG COLLEGE BULLETS ### And the COLLEGE OF WOOSTER SCOTS held on to beat their guests the WITTENBERG UNIVERSITY TIGERS 14-12.

GETTING A JUMP ON THE WEEKEND – On Thursday night the VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY OF LYNCHBURG DRAGONS played host to the SOUTH CAROLINA CENTRAL CHRISTIAN COLLEGE GLADIATORS. By the midpoint of the game the Dragons were up 27-0. From there, VUL kept up the pressure on their way to a 55-12 triumph over the Gladiators.
ANOTHER FORFEIT – I make no secret of the fact that I’m HOPING for the NSAC to thrive with their new football teams, especially with the NCCAA and USCAA having dropped gridiron play. That said, yesterday was the 3rd time this season with at least 1 forfeit. This time the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) got a 2-0 forfeit from the SOUTH GEORGIA HUSKIES.
THE SINKING OF ATLANTIS – The ROSEVILLE UNIVERSITY LIONS took it on the road against the ATLANTIS UNIVERSITY ATLANTEANS. Though Atlantis U. was expected to be a force in the NSAC they were once again hammered in their own house. The Lions managed to dominate on both sides of the ball for a 38-12 victory.
UH OH, YOU’RE UP AGAINST THE MAKOS – Remember those old “Uh oh, better get MAACO” ads? Yesterday the LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE MAKOS (as in the sharks) were less than gracious hosts to the GORDON STATE HIGHLANDERS. The Makos kicked Gordon State around the field almost at will, manhandling them 55-14.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN – On Saturday the CLAYTON STATE LAKERS traveled to take on the WESTGATE CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY GOLD RAVENS. Among a bunch of blowouts, this game stood out by being a bit competitive for a time. By Halftime the Lakers were on top 31-21. From there Clayton State upped the pressure, defeating the Gold Ravens 52-35.
NJCAA
EASY AS ONE, TWO, THREE – The number 1 defending National Champions – the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS – torched their hosts the ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS 50-0 ### Meanwhile, the 2nd ranked IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS won 35-24 at the (10) COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS ### And the number 3 TYLER COLLEGE APACHES won a tight 18-17 game at the NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (should be Cavalry).
UNHAPPY HOMECOMING – In this Oklahoma vs Texas clash the NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN rained on the Homecoming festivities of the (15) CISCO COLLEGE WRANGLERS. These old familiar foes kept things close but there could only be one winner, of course, and it was the Golden Norsemen by a score of 26-19.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The ROCHESTER TECHNICAL COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS paid a visit to the MINNESOTA WEST TECHNICAL COLLEGE BLUEJAYS and eked out a 27-26 victory over them ### And the ANDREW COLLEGE FIGHTING TIGERS welcomed the CENTRAL GEORGIA TECHNICAL COLLEGE TITANS and managed a 28-24 triumph.
BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN – The CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE AT BRAINERD RAIDERS (should be the Brainstorms) traveled to face the MESABI RANGE COLLEGE NORSE. CLC-Brainerd kept the Norse off the scoreboard until the 4th Quarter. The Raiders led 7-0, 14-0 and 28-0 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters, respectively. In the 4th they won out 34-7.
BLOWOUTS – The COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS crushed the visiting LEAD PREP ACADEMY KINGS by a score of 66-22 ### Elsewhere, the (14) IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS shut out the DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS 49-0 ### And the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS won 42-7 over the ERIE COLLEGE KATS.
