Conference: Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference
Comment: The Snowy Owl is called the Ookpik in the Inuktitut language. NAIT shortened that to Ooks for the unique name of their sports teams. Per Inuit Elders, Snowy Owls are considered protectors.

Java Bean: “Our Mama says that when she had a pet ferret, the ferret would go ‘ook-ook-ook’. Maybe the team is made of ferrets?”
Lulu: “Oh, I have got to see a team made up of ferrets!”
Chaplin: “Are you two having reading comprehension trouble? They’re named after an owl.”
Lulu: “Well, a team made up of owls would be interesting too I guess …”
