BALLADEER’S BLOG’S POSTSEASON COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM NOV 30th

NAIA PLAYOFFS

ROUND TWO: GAME ONE – The NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS visited the MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS. A 6-0 1st Quarter edge for the Red Raiders became a 23-14 advantage by Halftime. After the break, the Orediggers rallied but came up just short as Northwestern College held on for a 32-29 win. 

ROUND TWO: GAME TWO – The BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS took it on the road against the TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS. The Rams led 14-7 and then 24-14 in the 1st and 2nd Quarters. From there the Ravens came alive and went on top 28-24 in the 3rd before finalizing a 42-33 triumph in the 4th Quarter.

ROUND TWO: GAME THREE – In this game the GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS hosted the FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS. Come Halftime the Falcons held a 17-7 lead over GVU. The Vikings would go on to shut out Friends University from there while putting up 7 more points for themselves in the 3rd and 4th Quarters. Grand View won 21-17.

ROUND TWO: GAME FOUR – The INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS took the field against the visiting SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS. The Moundbuilders were on top of their opponents 13-10 to end the opening Quarter but scored no more points the rest of the game. The Wildcats led 17-13 at the midpoint and won by a final count of 24-13.

ROUND TWO: GAME FIVE – Up next the GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS were on the road against the ST. THOMAS UNIVERSITY WILDCATS (should be Tomcats). The Tigers converted their 7-0 edge in the 1st Quarter into a 21-14 lead at the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 21-21 tie and the 4th in a 27-21 Georgetown College victory.

ROUND TWO: GAME SIX – The UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA-WESTERN BULLDOGS hosted the DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS. Neither team scored in the opening Quarter before the Bulldogs grabbed a 10-0 Halftime advantage. The offenses got well and truly rolling after the break as UM-Western went on to win the game 41-14. 

ROUND TWO: GAME SEVEN – This game pitted the MORNINGSIDE UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS against the visiting MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS. The Mustangs led MNU 7-0, 14-0 and 28-0 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters, respectively. In the 4th Morningside consummated their shutout 35-0.

ROUND TWO: GAME EIGHT – The NAIA’s defending national champs – the KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS – welcomed the UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS. The Seahawks turned a 14-7 lead over UPike into a 28-14 advantage by Halftime. In the 2nd Half, Keiser University outscored the Bears 28-7 for a 56-21 blowout win. 

NCAA DIVISION TWO PLAYOFFS

SECOND ROUND: GAME ONE – The CALIFORNIA (PA) UNIVERSITY VULCANS played the visiting ASHLAND UNIVERSITY EAGLES. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie turned into a 20-14 Ashland edge at the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Eagles up 27-21, with the Vulcans roaring back in the 4th to win the game 34-33.

SECOND ROUND: GAME TWO – Next, the MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS traveled to face the COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDERWOLVES. The Mavericks were up 3-0 in the opening Quarter but trailed the Thunderwolves 13-6 by Halftime. That became a 16-6 CSU-Pueblo advantage in the 3rd before Minnesota State exploded in the 4th for a 26-23 victory.

SECOND ROUND: GAME THREE – In this contest the VALDOSTA STATE BLAZERS hosted the MILES COLLEGE GOLDEN BEARS. The Blazers took charge early, leading Miles 13-3 in the 1st Quarter and 16-3 at the midpoint of the game. From there Valdosta State outscored the Golden Bears 17-14 to win out by a final tally of 33-17.

SECOND ROUND: GAME FOUR – The BEMIDJI STATE BEAVERS took it on the road against the WESTERN COLORADO UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS. The Beavers saw their 7-3 opening Quarter edge turn into a 12-7 Halftime lead for the Mountaineers. Each team added 7 points in the 3rd Quarter before Bemidji State eked out a 20-19 win in the 4th.

SECOND ROUND: GAME FIVE – This game pitted D2’s defending national champions – the HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON – against their hosts the GRAND VALLEY UNIVERSITY LAKERS. By the midpoint the Bison were on top of Grand Valley U. 17-7. In the 2nd Half they put even more distance between themselves and the Lakers for a 44-26 victory.

SECOND ROUND: GAME SIX – A much tighter match was in store as the SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY ROCK visited the KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN BEARS. Even though the Rock were up 9-7 at the Half, Kutztown University forced Overtime with a 17-17 tie to end Regulation. The Golden Bears put up 7 points in OT but SRU got 8 to win the game 25-24. 

SECOND ROUND: GAME SEVEN – The VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY PANTHERS traveled to duke it out with the LENOIR-RHYNE UNIVERSITY BEARS. The road team dominated, leading their opponents 7-0, 20-6 and 27-6 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters, respectively. The 4th ended in a 44-12 Virginia Union triumph. 

SECOND ROUND: GAME EIGHT – This wasn’t a competition; it was a massacre as the FERRIS STATE BULLDOGS welcomed the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA BRONCHOS (their spelling). A 41-17 Bulldogs advantage come Halftime grew more and more lopsided from there as Ferris State obliterated UCO to the tune of SEVENTY-EIGHT to SEVENTEEN.

NCAA DIVISION THREE PLAYOFFS

ROUND TWO: GAME ONE – The UNIVERSITY OF MARY HARDIN-BAYLOR CRUSADERS found themselves on the road against the HARDIN-SIMMONS UNIVERSITY COWBOYS. The 1st Quarter ended with the Crusaders on top 14-0, and the 2nd with the Cowboys cutting that to a 14-7 difference. The defenses dominated the 2nd Half in a 17-13 UMHB win.

ROUND TWO: GAME TWO – Nothing at all close here as the LINFIELD COLLEGE WILDCATS utterly crushed the visiting TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS. The Wildcats put up 21, 30, 7 and 7 points during the 4 Quarters while leaving the Bulldogs humbled by a 6-3 beatdown.

ROUND TWO: GAME THREE – Next, the CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY TARTANS took the field against their guests the CENTRE COLLEGE COLONELS. At the Half the Tartans were out in front 10-0, and the Colonels made it a 10-7 game to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th, Carnegie Mellon U. triumphed by a final score of 24-15. 

ROUND TWO: GAME FOUR – The defending national champions in D3 football – the CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS – hosted the ENDICOTT COLLEGE GULLS yesterday. The Red Dragons were up 7-0 in the opening Quarter and 14-0 at Halftime. In the 3rd, Endicott pulled to within 14-9 but the 4th saw Cortland State hold on to win 17-9.

ROUND TWO: GAME FIVE – This game pitted the JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUE JAYS against the visiting GROVE CITY COLLEGE WOLVERINES. A 7-0 1st Quarter lead for the Blue Jays was unchanged at the break. From there the Wolverines mounted a rally, but came up short as Johns Hopkins University logged a 17-14 victory.

ROUND TWO: GAME SIX – The SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY RIVERHAWKS welcomed their 2nd Round opponents the HOBART COLLEGE STATESMEN. This was a tale of 2 Halves that saw the Riverhawks in front 28-7 come Halftime, then having to hold on tight to win the game by a tally of 42-35.   

ROUND TWO: GAME SEVEN – The UNIVERSITY OF MOUNT UNION PURPLE RAIDERS were hosting the JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY BLUE STREAKS. The 1st Quarter ended with the Purple Raiders up 14-7. The University of Mount Union shut out the Blue Streaks from there in a 42-7 blowout.

ROUND TWO: GAME EIGHT – Up next the SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS made a home stand against the KING’S COLLEGE MONARCHS. The Sea Gull defense only gave up 13 points total to King’s College. Meanwhile, their offense registered 13, 6, 7 and 7 quarterly points against the Monarchs to win 33-13.

ROUND TWO: GAME NINE – The HOPE COLLEGE FLYING DUTCHMEN welcomed the AURORA UNIVERSITY SPARTANS. A 21-7 Halftime advantage for the Flying Dutchmen became a 35-14 lead in the 3rd Quarter before ultimately ending in a 49-21 Hope College victory over the Spartans.

ROUND TWO: GAME TEN – In this game the NORTH CENTRAL COLLEGE CARDINALS clashed with the WHITWORTH UNIVERSITY PIRATES. Another non-competitive affair was in store here. The Cardinals led 28-3 by the midpoint, then coasted to a 42-17 smackdown of Whitworth University. 

ROUND TWO: GAME ELEVEN – The WARTBURG COLLEGE KNIGHTS and the visiting UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT PLATTEVILLE PIONEERS fought it out. The Knights were up 10-0 in the 1st Quarter and 10-7 at the Half. In the 3rd Quarter Wartburg College led 13-7 before winning out 19-14 over the Pioneers.

ROUND TWO: GAME TWELVE – The favorite team of my British readers, the SAINT JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES, defended their home field from the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT LACROSSE EAGLES. A defense-dominated opening Half ended with the Johnnies holding a mere 3-0 edge. From there SJU got their offense going in a 24-13 victory.

ROUND TWO: GAME THIRTEEN – The BETHEL (MN) ROYALS took on the LAKE FOREST COLLEGE FORESTERS. The Foresters were on top 14-13 come Halftime. After the break, the Royals exploded offensively, leading 34-13 in the 3rd Quarter and closing things out with a 48-21 triumph.

ROUND TWO: GAME FOURTEEN – This game pitted the SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE PRIDE against the visiting UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS CORSAIRS. A 34-14 advantage for the Pride at the midpoint became 41-21 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th, Springfield College put away the Corsairs by a final score of 54-27.

ROUND TWO: GAME FIFTEEN – The DEPAUW UNIVERSITY TIGERS played host to the MARYVILLE COLLEGE SCOTS. Another lopsided game was in store here. The Tigers were out in front 24-6 at Halftime on their way to a 45-20 hammering of the Scots. 

ROUND TWO: GAME SIXTEEN – Closing out yesterday’s playoff action was this game between the RANDOLPH-MACON COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS and their guests the WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE PRESIDENTS. The Presidents led 14-0 in the 1st Quarter but RMC went up 24-14 by the midpoint. After the break the Yellow Jackets pulled away to win 38-22.

CCCAA PLAYOFFS

Riverside College TigersSOUTHERN CALIFORNIA: FIRST SEMIFINAL – The RIVERSIDE CITY COLLEGE TIGERS, defending champs, took the field against the visiting SAN DIEGO MESA COLLEGE OLYMPIANS. Each team owned a Half, with the Olympians leading 27-0 by the intermission, but then RCC had its turn. The Tigers came roaring back to for a thrilling 37-30 triumph.

Mount San Antonio College MountiesSOUTHERN CALIFORNIA: SECOND SEMIFINAL – This game saw the MOUNT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES play host to the EL CAMINO COLLEGE WARRIORS. A 17-17 1st Quarter tie morphed into a 31-24 Mounties edge at Halftime. Mt. SAC shut out the Warriors from there, ultimately doubling up on them to win the game 48-24.   

Modesto College Pirates helmetNORTHERN CALIFORNIA: FIRST SEMIFINAL – The MODESTO COLLEGE PIRATES faced the FRESNO CITY COLLEGE RAMS. By the Half the Rams were on top 14-10, but the Pirates forced Overtime with a 28-28 tie to end the 4th Quarter. The 1st OT saw neither team score, then Modesto College emerged with a 31-28 victory in the 2nd OT.

San Mateo BulldogsNORTHERN CALIFORNIA: SECOND SEMIFINAL – In this game the COLLEGE OF SAN MATEO BULLDOGS defended their home turf from the AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS. A scoreless opening Quarter was followed by a 10-0 Bulldogs lead at Halftime. After the break the College of San Mateo left the Beavers further and further behind for a 41-7 win.

CCCAA BOWL GAMES

Golden West College RustlersTHE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BOWL – A clash between the GOLDEN WEST COLLEGE RUSTLERS and the ALLAN HANCOCK COLLEGE BULLDOGS was in store in this Bowl. The Rustlers grabbed a 7-0 opening Quarter advantage and kept up the pace from there. When all was said and done Golden West College triumphed 28-7.

Santa ana donsWESTERN STATE BOWL – The SANTA ANA COLLEGE DONS took on the LOS ANGELES-SOUTHWEST COLLEGE COUGARS. The Dons had their opponents all the way, leading 14-0, 28-14 and 35-14 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters, respectively. The 4th Quarter ended with a 35-20 victory for Santa Ana College.

Saddleback_CAPATRIOTIC BOWL – This Bowl pitted the SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS (now the Bobcats) against the BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE RENEGADES. The score was knotted up at 7-7 in the 1st Quarter, but Saddleback led 28-16 at the midpoint. The Renegades made it a Battle Royal in the 2nd Half but fell short as the former Gauchos won 48-45.

ventura college pirates newBEACH BOWL – The VENTURA COLLEGE PIRATES did battle with the LONG BEACH CITY COLLEGE VIKINGS (should be Beachcombers). Come Halftime the Vikings were out in front 24-17 before the 3rd Quarter saw the Pirates go up 31-30. In the 4th Ventura College managed a 39-33 victory in this thriller. 

pasadena city college lancersAMERICAN DIVISION BOWL – A battle between the PASADENA CITY COLLEGE LANCERS and the CHAFFEY COLLEGE PANTHERS was the matchup in this Bowl. The Lancers kept their opponents off the scoreboard until the 4th Quarter while scoring in all other frames themselves. A 10-0 midpoint lead ended as a 23-14 PCC win.

Sierra College WolverinesPEPSI BOWL – The SIERRA COLLEGE WOLVERINES took on the COLLEGE OF THE SEQUOIAS GIANTS. The Giants got off to a 12-7 advantage in the opening Quarter but that was cut to just 19-17 by the Half. After the break the Wolverines made their move, coming back to take the W by a final score of 38-35.
