WNBA PLAYOFFS UNDERWAY

Four series are underway in the 2024 WNBA postseason. Each have one game in the books. 

LYNX VS MERCURY: GAME ONE – The MINNESOTA LYNX faced the visiting PHOENIX MERCURY in this game.

A 32-19 1st Quarter lead for the Lynx became 56-42 by Halftime. After the break, the Mercury outscored Minnesota 53-46 but still lost to them by a Century Club score of 102-95. Napheesa Collier led the triumphant Minnesota team with her THIRTY-EIGHT points.

ACES VS STORM: GAME ONE – Up next the LAS VEGAS ACES took the court against their guests, the SEATTLE STORM.

The opening Quarter found the Storm on top 18-9, but by the Half the Aces had cut that lead to 42-38. Las Vegas pulled to within 65-64 to end the 3rd Quarter before an odd 4th ended in a 78-67 victory for the Aces. Twenty-one points from star A’ja Wilson led the way for Las Vegas.

LIBERTY VS DREAM: GAME ONE – The NEW YORK LIBERTY welcomed the ATLANTA DREAM for this clash.

New York was up 48-30 by the midpoint of the game. After the break the Liberty kept Atlanta at arm’s length the rest of the way for an 83-69 win. Leonie Fibiech tossed in 21 points to lead New York, while her teammate Breanna Stewart logged a Double Double of 29 points and 11 rebounds.

SUN VS FEVER: GAME ONE – The CONNECTICUT SUN faced the visiting INDIANA FEVER.

Connecticut led the Fever every Quarter, being on top 23-20, 46-38 and 68-57 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. In the 4th Quarter the Sun put Indiana away by a final tally of 93-69. Marina Mabrey led Connecticut with 27 points, while the Sun’s Alyssa Thomas registered a rare TRIPLE DOUBLE of 12 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds.
