BALLADEER’S BLOG: WNBA RESULTS

CENTURY CLUB – The INDIANA FEVER (17-16) took it on the road against the DALLAS WINGS (9-24).

A 23-19 1st Quarter lead for Dallas became a mere 46-45 edge by Halftime. The Fever were still chasing their opponents 74-70 to end the 3rd Quarter, but they roared from behind in the 4th to win the game by a Century Club score of 100-93. Kelsey Mitchell’s THIRTY-SIX points led Indiana, while teammate CAITLIN CLARK logged a Double Double of 28 points and 12 assists.

WELCOME TO UNCASVILLE – The CONNECTICUT SUN (24-9) hosted the SEATTLE STORM (20-13) at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT.

At the Half the Sun were on top of Seattle by a score of 42-34. After the break, Connecticut kept the Storm at arm’s length on their way to a 93-86 victory. Twenty-six points from Brionna Jones led the way for the Sun. 

SCUSE US, WHILE WE BEAT THE SKY – In this game the MINNESOTA LYNX (24-9) did battle with the visiting CHICAGO SKY (11-22).

The Lynx grabbed a quick 25-19 lead over Chicago in the opening Quarter. Minnesota squeezed out a tiny bit more separation by midpoint, 39-32. From there the Sky outscored the Lynx 42-40 as Minnesota held on to win 79-74. Courtney Williams’ 22 points led the Lynx. 

ACES HIGH – The LAS VEGAS ACES (21-12) traveled to take on the PHOENIX MERCURY (17-17).

The Aces were in control 29-10 and 52-28 in the 1st and 2nd Quarters, respectively. The Mercury rallied a bit in the 3rd, pulling to within 76-59 but Las Vegas reasserted itself again in the 4th for a 97-79 spanking. A’ja Wilson led the Aces with a Double Double of FORTY-ONE points and 17 rebounds, and her teammate Jackie Young had her own Double Double with 11 points and 14 assists.

LIFE IS BUT A DREAM – This game pitted the ATLANTA DREAM (11-22) against their hosts the LOS ANGELES SPARKS (7-25).

The Dream put Los Angeles in a 25-12 hole in the opening Quarter, then extended their lead to 46-30 by Halftime and 64-45 to end the 3rd Quarter. Atlanta crushed the Sparks 80-62 for the final tally, led by Tina Charles’ Double Double of 23 points and 10 rebounds.
