WNBA RESULTS – BALLADEER’S BLOG

HOME STAND – The INDIANA FEVER (12-15) hosted the PHOENIX MERCURY (14-13) in this game.

The Fever were on top of Phoenix 33-16 in the 1st Quarter and 54-37 at Halftime. To end the 3rd Quarter the Mercury pulled to within 73-65, but Indiana held on in the 4th to win the game 98-89. CAITLIN CLARK led the Fever with her Double Double of 29 points and 10 assists.  

SPANKING THE SPARKS – The league-leading NEW YORK LIBERTY (22-4) took it on the road against the LOS ANGELES SPARKS (6-19).

The Liberty parlayed their 29-10 opening Quarter lead over Los Angeles into a 57-28 advantage by the Half. After the break, New York coasted to a Century Club level 103-68 triumph over the Sparks. Breanna Stewart’s 27 points led the Liberty. 

INSTANT CLASSIC – This game pitted the ATLANTA DREAM (8-17) against the visiting SEATTLE STORM (17-9).

Seattle was out in front 41-29 at the midpoint of this hardcourt clash, but the Dream were only trailing 60-55 going into the 4th Quarter. Atlanta then outscored the Storm 28-21 for an 83-81 victory. THIRTY points from the Dream’s Rhyne Howard led the way.

TUSSLE AT THE TARGET CENTER – The MINNESOTA LYNX (18-8) welcomed the WASHINGTON MYSTICS (6-20).

The Lynx were up 18-15 to end the 1st Quarter but Washington grabbed a 37-35 edge by Halftime. In the 3rd Quarter Minnesota tied things up at 58-58 before leaving the Mystics behind them in the 4th to win out 79-68. Napheesa Collier notched a Double Double of 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Lynx.

SHOOTOUT – In this game the CONNECTICUT SUN (19-6) traveled to face the DALLAS WINGS (6-20).

The Sun had Dallas chasing them throughout the encounter, leading 27-20, 50-38 and 82-61 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters, respectively. The 4th saw Connecticut finalize their win by a Century Club score of 109-91. DeWanna Bonner tossed in 29 points for the Sun while teammate Alyssa Thomas logged a Double Double of 12 points and 14 assists.
