WNBA: THE GOLDEN STATE VALKYRIES

The WNBA resumes its regular season on August 15th, but for readers who miss the usual look at game results here’s a related WNBA item. A few months back I posted about the two new WNBA franchises that will be debuting.

The GOLDEN STATE VALKYRIES, sponsored by the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, will debut in May of 2025. Their colors will be violet and black, and their home games will be played at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

Already, fans have reserved over 15,000 Season Tickets, which is the MOST EVER FOR A WOMEN’S PROFESSIONAL SPORTS FRANCHISE. And there are still several months left for that figure to rise higher and higher.

An expansion draft will be held this December to accommodate the new team’s entry to the league. In 2025 the usual WNBA Draft will also be held.

The new Toronto franchise of the WNBA will debut in May of 2026 but has not yet finalized a team name. The NBA’s Toronto Raptors are sponsoring the newcomers.
