REQUIEM FOR THE DREAM – CAITLYN CLARK and the INDIANA FEVER (4-10) welcomed the ATLANTA DREAM (5-6) to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in this game.
By Halftime the Fever were leading Atlanta 59-44. From there the 3rd Quarter ended with the Dream nibbling Indiana’s advantage down to 73-62, and the 4th with a 91-84 victory for the Fever. Aliyah Boston led Indiana with a Double Double of 27 points and 13 rebounds.
TWO IN A ROW – The WASHINGTON MYSTICS (2-12), who got off the schneid recently, made it two wins in a row in their clash with the visiting CHICAGO SKY (4-8).
The Mystics saw a 24-10 1st Quarter lead turn into a 47-36 advantage over Chicago at the Half. After the break, the Sky outscored Washington 45-36 but still lost to the Mystics 83-81. Leading Washington to victory in this nail-biter was Ariel Atkins with 29 points.
COMEBACK CATS – In this game the MINNESOTA LYNX (10-3) played host to the LOS ANGELES SPARKS (4-9).
The opening Half ended with the Sparks on top 44-39. The Lynx came out of the locker room primed for a comeback and led L.A. 59-56 in the 3rd Quarter before winning the game 81-76. THIRTY points from Napheesa Collier led Minnesota, while her teammate Courtney Williams logged a Double Double of 15 points and 10 rebounds.
ROAD WARRIORS – The CONNECTICUT SUN (12-1) took it on the road against the DALLAS WINGS (3-9).
The Sun grabbed a quick 27-17 1st Quarter lead over Dallas. That became 43-33 at the midpoint and 68-46 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th, Connecticut authoritatively put away the Wings by a final tally of 85-67. Rachel Banham tossed in 16 points to lead the Sun.
ROAD WARRIORS: THE SEQUEL – This game pitted the traveling NEW YORK LIBERTY (12-2) against the LAS VEGAS ACES (6-6).
Come Halftime it was a tight 45-43 affair in favor of the Liberty. After the break, New York got more distance from the Aces, leading them 67-60 in the 3rd Quarter and defeating them in the 4th 90-82. Jonquel Jones’ THIRTY-FOUR points led the Liberty, and teammate Sabrina Ionescu added a Double Double of 15 points and 12 assists.
STORM WARNING – The SEATTLE STORM (9-4) took the court against the visiting PHOENIX MERCURY (6-7).
The Storm led Phoenix 25-12, 46-33, and 64-43 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters, respectively. The 4th saw Seattle win the game by a final count of 80-62. Ezi Magbegor of the Storm led her team with 21 points.
