NAIA POOL PLAY
BATTLE ROYAL – The WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS clashed with the WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS.
The Warriors seized a quick 6-0 lead in the 1st Quarter and that score was unchanged headed into Halftime. In the 3rd Quarter the Royals knotted things up at 6-6 and the 4th saw Warner University go up 13-6. Webber International made it a 13-12 game late but failed at the PAT as the Royals won out 13-12.
AND AT THE OTHER EXTREME … – The THOMAS UNIVERSITY NIGHTHAWKS were anti-drama in their game against the REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Rottweilers).
The Nighthawks dominated on both sides of the ball, converting a 20-0 opening Quarter lead into a 53-0 advantage at the Half. From there Thomas U. coasted to a SEVENTY-ONE to NOTHING annihilation of Reinhardt. Alexa Wilson of the Nighthawks passed for 23 of 27 for 230 yards and 8 touchdowns.
CHAMPS ROLLING – The three-time defending National Champions – the OTTAWA (KS) UNIVERSITY BRAVES – took on the SAINT THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS (should be Tomcats).
After a scoreless 1st Quarter, the Braves led Saint Thomas University 7-0 at the midpoint of the game. In the 3rd Quarter Ottawa University extended their lead to 14-0, and the 4th saw each team log a touchdown. The Braves won the game 20-6 led by Madysen Carrera, who threw for 25 of 35 for 220 yards and 3 touchdowns.
KEISER IS WISER – The KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS and the MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS clashed in this game.
A 6-6 1st Quarter tie remained turned into a 19-6 Seahawks advantage come Halftime. After the break Keiser University kept the Warriors off the scoreboard, leading them 27-6 in the 3rd Quarter and defeating them 43-6 in the 4th. Jazmin Rhoden of the Seahawks went 26 of 33 for 251 yards and 2 touchdowns.
*** For the rest of the first day’s Pool Play, Warner went 2-0 with a 21-6 win over the Milligan University Buffaloes. Thomas went 2-0 by beating the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes 33-7. Keiser went 2-0 with a 52-6 clubbing of Baker. And Ottawa went 2-0 by defeating the Campbellsville University Tigers 47-0.
Baker, Kansas Wesleyan, Webber International and St. Thomas went 1-1 to advance. Milligan, Campbellsville, Midland and Reinhardt were eliminated with 0-2 results.
