KNOCKING OFF NUMBER TWO – The UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA AT ANCHORAGE SEAWOLVES welcomed the number 2 team in the nation – the ST. MARTIN’S UNIVERSITY SAINTS. The Seawolves put the Saints on Upset Alert by Halftime with their 33-25 lead. After the break SMU rallied, but Alaska-Anchorage held on for a 71-68 victory. Tyson Gilbert logged 28 points to lead the Seawolves.
MARATHON GAME OF THE DAY – The FLORIDA SOUTHERN COLLEGE MOCS (Moccasins) visited the PALM BEACH ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY SAILFISH yesterday. At the Half the Mocs were up 42-34 but the Sailfish forced OT with a 74-74 tie to end Regulation. The 1st Overtime ended at 80-80, the 2nd at 89-89, the 3rd at 102-102 and the FOURTH OVERTIME saw FSC win out 117-110. Luke Anderson’s Double Double of 31 points and 12 rebounds led the Mocs.
CENTENNIAL CLUB – The NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY SHARKS won 110-62 over the visiting ROLLINS COLLEGE TARS (Jacktars) ### Meanwhile, the EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be Aeronauts) beat the UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA SPARTANS 102-86 ### And the (12) GANNON UNIVERSITY GOLDEN KNIGHTS won 109-86 at the UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH AT JOHNSTOWN MOUNTAIN CATS.
COMEBACK – In this game the UNIVERSITY OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA FIREBIRDS traveled to face the MERCY COLLEGE MAVERICKS. At the midpoint of the contest the Mavericks were up 39-36, but the Firebirds came out of the locker room primed for a comeback, winning by a final score of 78-71. Hartnel Haye led UDC with a Double Double of 19 points and 11 rebounds.
TAKING A BREAK FROM THEIR COMMERCIALS – The SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE UNIVERSITY PENMEN took it on the road against the FRANKLIN PIERCE UNIVERSITY RAVENS. The Ravens grabbed a 40-36 edge by the Half, but after the break the Penmen rallied for an 81-78 victory. Matt Becht led SNHU with his 22 points.
PUTTING IN OVERTIME – The LEWIS UNIVERSITY FLYERS took the court against their guests the UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS. The Flyers were on top 37-28 halfway through, but the Greyhounds tied things up 69-69 to end Regulation. In the extra session Lewis University managed an 82-81 win. Beau Frericks tossed in 22 points to lead Lewis University.
COOL NICKNAMES TRIUMPHANT – The TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL DUSTDEVILS parlayed a 49-31 Halftime lead over the WESTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS into an 86-63 victory ### And the LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY RAILSPLITTERS likewise won at home, in their case 78-67 over the ANDERSON UNIVERSITY TROJANS.
LIGHTNING STRIKE – The GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE LIGHTNING played host to the FELICIAN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN FALCONS. The teams went basket for basket at first, resulting in a 37-37 tie at Halftime. From there the Lightning outscored the Golden Falcons 48-43 for an 85-80 triumph. Eighteen points from Zayon Marsh led Goldey-Beacom College.
