COLLEGE FOOTBALL POSTSEASON RESULTS FROM NOVEMBER 18th

NAIA PLAYOFFS

Dickinson State Blue Hawks helmet NEWROUND ONE: GAME ONE – The DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS took it on the road against the MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS. This tightest game of the day was knotted up at 21-21 come Halftime. In the 3rd Quarter the Blue Hawks went up 28-21 and in the 4th each team added another Touchdown as Dickinson State beat the Orediggers 35-28.  

dordt unversity defendersROUND ONE: GAME TWO – This game pitted the DORDT UNIVERSITY DEFENDERS against the visiting OTTAWA UNIVERSITY BRAVES. Though the 1st Quarter ended in a 7-7 tie, the Defenders shut out the Braves the rest of the way. All the while, Dordt University added 14 points before the break and 14 more in the 2nd Half for a 35-7 beatdown.

Saint Thomas FL Bobcats helmetROUND ONE: GAME THREE – The SAINT THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS (should be Tomcats) welcomed the REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be Rottweilers) yesterday. The Bobcats dominated their opponents on both sides of ball, parlaying a 6-0 opening Quarter edge into a 28-0 advantage by Halftime and finally a 55-7 blowout. 

Baker U Wildcats helmetROUND ONE: GAME FOUR – The BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS took the field against their guests the LOUISIANA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS. This was a tale of two Halves as LCU led 21-14 by the midpoint, but from there Baker University took over, winning the game very comfortably 56-28.

NCAA DIVISION TWO PLAYOFFS

Bemidji_StFIRST ROUND: UPSETS – Only two Upsets in this year’s opening round in the D2 postseason. The BEMIDJI STATE BEAVERS won a 10-3 defensive epic at the UT-PERMIAN BASIN FALCONS    ###    And the CENTRAL WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY WILDCATS edged their hosts the WESTERN COLORADO UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS 16-13.

Grand Valley StateFIRST ROUND: CLOSE GAMES – The GRAND VALLEY STATE LAKERS dethroned the visiting defending national champions – the FERRIS STATE BULLDOGS – in a 21-14 Battle Royal    ###    And the UNIVERSITY OF CHARLESTON GOLDEN EAGLES downed the UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN CHARGERS by a final score of 52-44.

Pittsburg State GorillasFIRST ROUND: COMFORTABLE WINS – The PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS won 35-14 over their guests the UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS   ###   Meanwhile, the VALDOSTA STATE BLAZERS outscored the LIMESTONE UNIVERSITY SAINTS 62-41   ###   And the KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN BEARS hammered the VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY PANTHERS 38-14.

delta stateFIRST ROUND: BLOWOUTS – The DELTA STATE STATESMEN manhandled the UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS 49-14   ###   Elsewhere, the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES eviscerated the HENDERSON STATE REDDIES 56-14   ###   And the LENOIR-RHYNE UNIVERSITY BEARS gave the SHEPHERD UNIVERSITY RAMS a 63-17 mauling.

NCAA DIVISION THREE PLAYOFFS

Cortland State Red DragonsROUND ONE: UPSETS – The CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS won 23-17 at the ENDICOTT GULLS   ###   The UNION COLLEGE GARNET CHARGERS beat their hosts the DELAWARE VALLEY AGGIES 24-16   ###   The ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS won 21-7 at the SPRINGFIELD PRIDE   ###   And the GROVE CITY UNIVERSITY WOLVERINES edged the home standing SUSQUEHANNA RIVER HAWKS 21-20. 

Wheaton ThunderROUND ONE: INSTANT CLASSICS – The WHEATON COLLEGE THUNDER survived a 41-34 visit from the MOUNT SAINT JOSEPH UNIVERSITY LIONS    ###    And the RANDOLPH MACON COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS defeated their guests the CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS 28-20. 

Alma Scots helmetROUND ONE: “TEENTH” POINT WINS – The ALMA COLLEGE SCOTS beat the DEPAUW TIGERS 32-17   ###   Meanwhile, the AURORA SPARTANS won 20-7 over the COE KOHAWKS   ###   The WHITWORTH U. PIRATES defeated the CHAPMAN PANTHERS 42-28   ###   And the TRINITY (TX) TIGERS downed the HARDIN-SIMMONS COWBOYS 20-6.

Johns Hopkins UniversityROUND ONE: BLOWOUTS – The JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUE JAYS smacked the WESTERN CONNECTICUT STATE WOLVES 62-20   ###   Elsewhere, the MOUNT UNION PURPLE RAIDERS won 56-14 over the ALFRED STATE PIONEERS   ###   ### The UW-WHITEWATER WARHAWKS tripled the BETHEL ROYALS 42-14   ###   And the WARTBURG COLLEGE KNIGHTS spanked the ILLINOIS COLLEGE BLUE BOYS 49-14. 

North_Central_ILROUND ONE: SLAUGHTERS – The NORTH CENTRAL COLLEGE CARDINALS utterly annihilated the BELHAVEN UNIVERSITY BLAZERS in a SIXTY-FIVE to NOTHING shutout    ###    And the UW-LACROSSE EAGLES embarrassed the MINNESOTA-MORRIS COUGARS by a final score of 62-7.   

NJCAA PLAYOFFS

East Mississippi College Lions helmet profileMACC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams fighting for this conference crown were the EAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LIONS and the COPIAH-LINCOLN COLLEGE WOLFPACK. The Wolfpack led 7-0 and 10-6 in the 1st and 2nd Quarters respectively. In the 3rd the Lions went up 13-10 and the explosive 4th ended in a 27-20 EMC victory.

Kilgore CollegeSWJCF CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This title tilt pitted the KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS against the NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS. The Rangers led 7-0 in the 1st Quarter, then made that a 21-13 advantage by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 31-19 Kilgore College lead and the 4th saw the Rangers blunt a potential Bulldogs rally to win the game 48-39. 

** sussex county skylandersCLASH OF INDEPENDENTS – The SUSSEX COUNTY COLLEGE SKYLANDERS took on the visiting MONROE COLLEGE MUSTANGS. This game found the Skylanders on top of the Mustangs 23-13 by the midpoint. After the break SCC left their opponents even further behind for a 47-27 triumph.

Riverside College TigersMount San Antonio College MountiesSOUTH SEMIFINAL ONE – Next Saturday, November 25th, the top seeded MOUNT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES will do battle with the 4 seeds – the RIVERSIDE CITY COLLEGE TIGERS. 

Ventura PiratesFullerton College HornetsSOUTH SEMIFINAL TWO – Also on the 25th of the month, the 2 seeds – the FULLERTON COLLEGE HORNETS – will play host to the 3rd seeded VENTURA COLLEGE PIRATES. 

Modesto College Pirates helmetSan Mateo BulldogsNORTH SEMIFINAL ONE – Add November 25th to your calendar for this gridiron clash as well, as the top seeded COLLEGE OF SAN MATEO BULLDOGS welcome the 4 seeds – the MODESTO COLLEGE PIRATES.

City College of San FranciscoAmerican River College BeaversNORTH SEMIFINAL TWO – The 25th will also see the 2 seeds – the AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS – play host to the 3rd seeded CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO RAMS.

NCAA DIVISION THREE BOWL GAMES

Salve Regina Seahawks helmetNEW ENGLAND BOWL – In this Bowl Game the SALVE REGINA UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS took on the ANNA MARIA COLLEGE AMCATS. A 6-6 opening Quarter tie became a 16-12 Halftime edge for the Seahawks. The Amcats outscored SRU 22-21 in the 2nd Half but the Seahawks won 37-34.

Utica Pioneers NEWCLAYTON CHAPMAN BOWL – The UTICA UNIVERSITY PIONEERS did battle with the HOBART COLLEGE STATESMEN. The defenses dominated this game as the Statesmen led by a mere 6-3 score at the Half. The Pioneers notched the only points after the break with a 4th Quarter Touchdown and a 10-6 victory. 

Monmouth_ILLAKEFRONT BOWL – Up next the MONMOUTH COLLEGE FIGHTING SCOTS faced the ST. NORBERT COLLEGE GREEN KNIGHTS. A scoreless 1st Quarter was followed by a 7-0 Green Knight lead at the midpoint. Each team added a 3rd Quarter Touchdown to make the score 14-7 but the Fighting Scots ruled the 4th, grabbing a 21-14 comeback win.

wilkes u colonelsCAPE HENRY BOWL – The WILKES UNIVERSITY COLONELS played the BRIDGEWATER COLLEGE EAGLES in this Bowl. The Colonels led 21-3 by Halftime but the Eagles cut that to 21-11 in the 3rd Quarter. Wilkes U. got more separation in the 4th, winning the game 35-17.

franklin and marshall diplomatsCENTENNIAL-MAC BOWL SERIES – This game pitted the CC’s FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE DIPLOMATS against the MAC’s KING’S COLLEGE MONARCHS. The Diplomats were on top 9-0 at the Half and it still seemed anybody’s game as the 3rd Quarter ended in a 16-7 F&M advantage. The Diplomats owned the 4th, however, for a 30-7 triumph.

Washington and Jefferson PresidentsJAMES LYNAH BOWL – The WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE PRESIDENTS took the field against the UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie turned into a 32-14 lead for the Presidents at the break. From there Washington & Jefferson coasted to a 46-21 win.

Carnegie Mellon TartansASA S. BUSHNELL BOWL – The CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY TARTANS clashed with the COLLEGE AT BROCKPORT GOLDEN EAGLES yesterday. The Tartans seized a 14-0 lead in the 1st Quarter and never looked back. In the end CMU lambasted the Golden Eagles by a final tally of 37-7.

HELMETTRINITYNESCAC FINALE – The TRINITY (CT) BANTAMS visited the BOWDOIN COLLEGE POLAR BEARS in this game which was postponed from October 28th. The Bantams got a piece of the NESCAC title as their 21-7 opening Quarter advantage became a 48-14 Halftime lead and ultimately a 58-21 beatdown.
