NUMBER THREE TAKES A FALL – In the NAIA the CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS hosted the number 3 team in the nation, the INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS. A 7-0 1st Quarter lead for the Cardinals became 14-3 by Halftime. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter, the teams exchanged a Touchdown apiece in the 4th as Concordia University toppled the Wildcats 21-10.
“THAT WAS NUMBER FIIIVE!” – Over in NCAA Division Two, the KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN BEARS took the field against the visiting 5th ranked SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY ROCK. The Golden Bears kept the forever-overrated Rock off the scoreboard until the 4th Quarter in a 31-7 Upset.
AND ANOTHER NUMBER FIVE FALLS – Back in the NAIA, the SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS (should be Sea Gulls) went up against their guests, the number 5 COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES. SOU put the Coyotes on Upset Alert by the Half, leading them 14-7, then carried through by winning the game 31-16.
KNOCKING OFF NUMBER EIGHT – Down in NCAA Division Three, the WHITWORTH UNIVERSITY PIRATES traveled to take on the country’s 8th ranked LINFIELD COLLEGE WILDCATS. The Wildcats were on top 14-7 in the opening Quarter and 17-14 come Halftime. In the 3rd Quarter Linfield College extended their advantage to 24-14 but the Pirates came from behind in the 4th for a 28-24 triumph.
ZAPPING THE OPPOSITION – D2’s storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS hosted the OHIO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY PANTHERS yesterday. The Chargers led 14-7 by the Half, then after the break they got more and more separation from the Panthers, leaving them in the dust by a final score of 35-17.
NAIA OVER NCAA AGAIN – The NAIA’s MAYVILLE STATE COMETS clashed with the MARTIN LUTHER COLLEGE KNIGHTS from NCAA Division Three. The Comets added yet another 2023 NAIA victory over teams from NCAA Divisions One, Two and Three. Mayville State’s 28-13 1st Quarter lead remained unchanged at the midpoint, following which the Comets dominated the Knights for a 45-20 smackdown.
SERVICE ACADEMY CLASH – This game pitted the UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS against the home standing COAST GUARD ACADEMY BEARS. A 13-13 Halftime tie became a 26-13 Mariners advantage to end the 3rd Quarter and ultimately a 39-27 victory for USMMA.
GETTING A JUMP ON THE WEEKEND – In Friday night’s D3 clashes, the CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS won 27-21 at the COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY LIONS ### Meanwhile, the SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS downed the KEAN UNIVERSITY COUGARS 31-28 ### And the ROWAN UNIVERSITY PROFS won 24-14 over the WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY PIONEERS.
BETTER LATE THAN NEVER – For their last game of the 2023 regular season, the ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE BUFFALOS finally notched a win for the year. It came as they welcomed the NORTH AMERICAN UNIVERSITY STALLIONS. The Stallions led 7-6 in the 1st Quarter and 10-6 at Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Buffalos up 20-10 and the 4th in a 20-13 ABC win.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The MID-AMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS toppled their hosts the (14) BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS 38-31 ### Elsewhere, the (25) LOUISIANA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS won 34-24 at the (15) TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS ### And the (22) MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS won 23-17 at the (16) CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS.
A DOUBLE-SHOT OF THAT OT LOVE – In this game the EVANGEL UNIVERSITY VALOR took on the visiting BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS. The Threshers saw their 21-10 Halftime lead become a 31-31 tie to end the 4th Quarter. The 1st OT made it a 38-38 deadlock but in the 2nd OT the Valor triumphed 41-38.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS survived a 28-21 visit from the MCPHERSON COLLEGE BULLDOGS (should be Mastiffs) ### The TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS won 31-28 at the OTTAWA UNIVERSTY BRAVES ### And the CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX defeated the FAULKNER EAGLES (should be the Fury) 10-3.
SHUTOUT – It was virtually all defense in this game between the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS and the visiting ST. ANDREWS UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS. A 7-0 Skyhawks lead in the opening Quarter remained unchanged at the Half. Point University added another Touchdown in the 3rd Quarter in their 14-0 triumph.

COURTESY OF THE FORT LAUDERDALE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE – Elvis fans will get it. The UNIVERSITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE EAGLES (should be Flamingos) welcomed the MCDOUGLE TECHNICAL INSTITUTE BISON. Fort Lauderdale converted a 14-0 midpoint advantage into a 28-0 shutout win.
HOWLING – The KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES did battle with the STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS. The Coyotes compiled a 21-13 lead over their opponents by Halftime, then added a Field Goal in the defense-oriented 2nd Half to win the game 24-13.
BLOWOUT – The OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be the Purple Tigers) took the field against the visiting ST. AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES. Olivet Nazarene was on top 20-7 at the break, then kept up the pressure the rest of the way in this 47-7 laugher.
MASSACRE SQUARED – This incredibly one-sided game found the OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT welcoming the OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE STATE AGGIES (should be Okies). The Spirit seized a quick 23-6 lead in the 1st Quarter and never looked back, making OPSU their prison brides EIGHTY-NINE to TWENTY.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The HENDERSON STATE REDDIES won 31-27 at the 12th ranked OUACHITA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY TIGERS ### And the VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY PANTHERS toppled the home standing number 18 FAYETTEVILLE STATE BRONCOS by a score of 21-10.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – In this game the EDINBORO UNIVERSITY FIGHTING SCOTS visited the LOCK HAVEN UNIVERSITY BALD EAGLES. A 14-13 Halftime edge for the Fighting Scots turned into a 23-22 Bald Eagles lead in the 3rd Quarter. The 4th ended in a 36-30 Edinboro victory.
ALL NAME GAMES – The WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS crushed their guests the NORTHEASTERN STATE RIVER HAWKS 45-14 ### Meanwhile, the MSU-MOORHEAD DRAGONS downed the UNIVERSITY OF MARY MARAUDERS 35-7 ### And the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM won 49-21 over the visiting OKLAHOMA BAPTIST BISON.
RED AND GOLD – The SHIPPENSBURG UNIVERSITY RED RAIDERS hosted the GANNON UNIVERSITY GOLDEN KNIGHTS. These two teams had fought to a 10-10 deadlock by the Half. The Red Raiders went up 17-10 in the 3rd Quarter and a scoreless 4th made that the final tally as well.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT OSHKOSH TITANS toppled the visiting 11th ranked UW-RIVER FALLS FALCONS by a score of 38-31 ### And the number 15 CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS won 38-28 at the 14th ranked ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS.
ONE-POINT WONDER – This game pitted the UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO MAROONS against the home standing LAKE FOREST COLLEGE FORESTERS. The Foresters were up 7-0 in the 1st Quarter but the Maroons made it a 14-9 game by Halftime. In the 3rd Quarter the University of Chicago went on top 15-14, which held up as the final score, too.
COOL NAME BOWLS – The UNIVERSITY OF LA VERNE LEOPARDS defeated the CAL LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY KINGSMEN 31-24 ### Elsewhere, the CARTHAGE COLLEGE FIREBIRDS won 24-15 at the MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY BIG BLUE ### And the ST. OLAF COLLEGE OLES hammered their hosts the HAMLINE UNIVERSITY PIPERS 28-7.
ENGINEER ON ENGINEER VIOLENCE – This was a clash between the MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERS and their guests, the WORCESTER POLYTECHNICAL INSTITUTE ENGINEERS. Worcester led 7-0 and 21-10 in the 1st and 2nd Quarters, respectively. After the break, MIT shut out their opponents while making it a 21-18 game in the 3rd and a 25-21 comeback win in the 4th.

ONE VERSUS TWO – The number one team in the nation – the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS – welcomed the number 2 IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS. The Reivers had the Blue Dragons worried at the break with their 21-14 advantage, but Hutchinson College came back to tie the game 21-21 in the 3rd Quarter before winning it 42-28 in the 4th.
ROAD WARRIORS – The GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS won a 26-21 thriller at the COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS ### The (9) DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS defeated the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES 41-26 ### And the SUSSEX COUNTY COLLEGE SKYLANDERS smacked down the NASSAU COUNTY COLLEGE LIONS 39-16.
TWO OVERTIMES WEREN’T ENOUGH – In this game the (3) KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS played host to the (14) NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (should be the Cavalry). The Rangers were on top 10-0 at Halftime but the Institute roared back and the 4th Quarter ended in a 22-22 tie. That became 29-29 in the 1st OT but neither team scored in the 2nd. In the 3rd OT Kilgore won out 37-35.
WHY DON’T WE DO IT ON THE ROAD? – The (5) SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS outdistanced the MONROE COLLEGE MUSTANGS 32-13 ### Then the GEORGIA MILITARY INSTITUTE BULLDOGS defeated the (11) LACKAWANNA COLLEGE FALCONS 31-24 ### And the (12) NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS won 30-29 at the (7) TRINITY VALLEY COLLEGE CARDINALS.

DOWN GO ONE AND TWO – The traveling 4th ranked FULLERTON COLLEGE HORNETS toppled the number 1 RIVERSIDE CITY COLLEGE TIGERS in a 17-16 Instant Classic ### And at number 5 the COLLEGE OF SAN MATEO BULLDOGS humiliated the 2nd ranked CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO RAMS 44-17.
THE OTHER UPSET IN THE TOP TEN – The 17th ranked COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS COUGARS played host to the number 10 MODESTO COLLEGE PIRATES. By the break the Cougars were up 14-7, and 21-13 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th College of the Canyons held on for a 21-19 win.
ALL NAME GAMES – The SANTA ANA COLLEGE DONS clobbered the visiting COLLEGE OF THE DESERT ROADRUNNERS by a score of 49-28 ### Meanwhile, the BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE RENEGADES easily won 31-7 at the SANTA BARBARA CITY COLLEGE VAQUEROS ### And the PASADENA CITY COLLEGE LANCERS downed the home standing LOS ANGELES VALLEY COLLEGE MONARCHS 30-22.
DOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – In this game the (21) SAN DIEGO MESA COLLEGE OLYMPIANS were at home against the PALOMAR COLLEGE COMETS. The Olympians were chasing the Comets 7-0 in the 1st Quarter and 14-7 at Halftime. From there SDMC shut out Palomar and won the game 28-14.
