Virginia U of Lynchburg Dragons GOODNCCAA OVER NCAA DIVISION TWO – This game pitted the NCCAA’s VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY OF LYNCHBURG DRAGONS against their hosts, D2’s LANE COLLEGE DRAGONS. VUL was chasing Lane College 28-21 at Halftime and 42-35 in the 3rd Quarter. The 4th saw VU-Lynchburg pull off a 45-42 come from behind Upset.

Monroe College Mustangs helmetNJCAA OVER USCAA – In another Upset, NJCAA team the MONROE COLLEGE MUSTANGS welcomed the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) from the USCAA. A 14-14 tie at the Half became 21-21 to end the 3rd Quarter and ultimately a 28-21 triumph for the Mustangs.

Augustana Vikings helmetDOWN GOES NUMBER FOUR – In NCAA Division Two action, the 21st ranked AUGUSTANA (SD) VIKINGS took on the visiting number 4 team in the nation – the MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS. After a scoreless opening Quarter, the Vikings led 7-3 at the midpoint and 14-3 in the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th, Augustana U. toppled the Mavericks 28-10.

College of Idaho Coyotes NEW HELMETKNOCKING OFF NUMBER SIX – Over in the NAIA, the number 9 COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES were on the road at the number 6 CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS. The Coyotes put the Fighting Saints on Upset Alert with a 14-7 lead at the break. The College of Idaho followed through by defeating their hosts 35-21.

ANOTHER NUMBER SIX TAKES A FALL – D2’s number 13 UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS traveled to face the country’s 6th ranked DELTA STATE STATESMEN. A 7-7 1st Quarter deadlock turned into a 21-10 Statesmen advantage by Halftime. From there the Argonauts roared back for a 24-21 Upset victory. 

Gustavus Adolphus Gusties helmetAND NUMBER SEVEN CAME TUMBLING AFTER – Down in NCAA Division Three, the GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE GUSTIES played host to the number 7 ST. JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES. The Johnnies were up 14-7 in the 1st but the Gusties went on top 24-21 at the Half. After the break, GAC held off SJU to win the game 38-35.

showtime academy silverbacksUSCAA GAME OF THE WEEK – In the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, the SHOWTIME ACADEMY SILVERBACKS took it on the road against the WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS. The Silverbacks led 6-0, 6-2 and 18-2 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters respectively. In the 4th, Showtime Academy triumphed 26-10. 

southern connecticut state owls helmetMARATHON MEN – This game between D2’s SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE OWLS and the home standing PACE UNIVERSITY SETTERS (Irish Setters) lasted FIVE OVERTIMES. For all that, there weren’t really a lot of points being scored, as the Owls won the clash 25-23.

Siena Heights SaintsOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS took down their hosts the 12th ranked CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS 24-21   ###   Meanwhile, the BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS won 20-13 at the number 14 SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS   ###   And the ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLING BEARS beat the 16th ranked MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS 28-21.   

thomas university night hawksHISTORY FOR THOMAS U. – The new intercollegiate football team the THOMAS UNIVERSITY NIGHT HAWKS notched their program’s very first win yesterday against the visiting WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS. The Night Hawks led 10-0 at Halftime and 31-14 in the 3rd on their way to a 38-26 victory. 

evangel valor helmetHAPPY HOMECOMINGS – The (13) EVANGEL UNIVERSITY VALOR celebrated Homecoming with a 20-11 triumph over the FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS   ###   Elsewhere, the OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE STATE AGGIES (should be Okies) defeated the TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS 44-32   ###   And the TAYLOR UNIVERSITY TROJANS eviscerated the MADONNA UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS 54-14. 

Kansas Wesleyan helmet NEWUNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – The KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES played host to the UNIVERSITY OF ST. MARY SPIRES in Salina, KS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie turned into a 17-7 Coyotes lead by the Half. The Spires shut out Kansas Wesleyan the rest of the way but still fell to them 17-14.

Kentucky Christian GOOD helmetKNIGHT MOVES – In a case of Knight-on-Knight violence the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY visited ST. ANDREWS UNIVERSITY. Neither team scored in the opening Quarter, but SAU’s Knights led 15-6 come Halftime. KCU went on top 18-15 to end the 3rd Quarter, and 18-15 held up as the final tally, too.

southwestern assemblies of god helmetENTERING THE LION’S DEN – The SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS played host to the NORTH AMERICAN UNIVERSITY STALLIONS on Saturday. The Lions kept the Stallions off the scoreboard until the 4th Quarter as their 9-0 midpoint lead became a 15-6 win.

roosevelt lakers green helmetUNHAPPY HOMECOMING – The ROOSEVELT UNIVERSITY LAKERS traveled to do battle with the OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be Purple Tigers). This was a tale of two Halves as a tight 20-17 Lakers advantage at Halftime exploded into a 48-24 Homecoming loss for ONU from there. 

Ottawa (AZ) SpiritTHAT’S THE SPIRIT – The OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT entertained the LOUISIANA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS last night. The Spirit were on top 20-10 by the break, but then had to hold on against a valiant Wildcats rally atttempt to win the game 27-24. 

NCAA DIVISION TWO

texas permian basinOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The 25th ranked UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT THE PERMIAN BASIN FALCONS dragged down the home standing number 18 ANGELO STATE RAMS by a score of 28-23    ###    And the ELIZABETH CITY STATE VIKINGS eked out a 17-16 win at the number 24 VIRGINIA STATE TROJANS.

HillsdaleHILLSDALE THRILLER ON THE ROAD – The storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS took it on the road against the THOMAS MORE UNIVERSITY SAINTS yesterday. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie remained knotted up 21-21 at Halftime. From there the Chargers outscored the Saints 14-12 to win out 35-33.

Texas_AM_KingsvilleALL NAME GAMES – The TEXAS A&M AT KINGSVILLE JAVELINAS won handily 35-14 at the EASTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY GREYHOUNDS   ###   The UVA-WISE HIGHLAND CAVALIERS defeated the ERSKINE COLLEGE FLYING FLEET 34-23   ###   And the HENDERSON STATE REDDIES crushed their hosts the ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS 42-14.

Emory and Henry WaspsWORKING OVERTIME – In this game the EMORY & HENRY UNIVERSITY WASPS welcomed the TUSCULUM COLLEGE PIONEERS. The Pioneers led 14-3 at Halftime before the Wasps made it a 14-9 game in the 3rd Quarter, then forced OT with a 24-24 tie. In the extra session E&H won 27-24.

NCAA DIVISION THREE

St Norbert College Green KnightsFOUR QUARTERS WEREN’T ENOUGH – The ST. NORBERT COLLEGE GREEN KNIGHTS won a 13-7 Overtime affair at the CONCORDIA (WI) FALCONS    ###    And the DEPAUW UNIVERSITY TIGERS used OT to defeat their hosts the WITTENBERG UNIVERSITY TIGERS in a 41-35 shootout.

Elmhurst Blue JaysA PATCH OF BLUE – This game pitted the ELMHURST UNIVERSITY BLUE JAYS against the visiting MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY BIG BLUE. The two teams had played to a 6-6 deadlock by Halftime before the Big Blue went up 14-13 as the 3rd Quarter ended. In the 4th the Blue Jays came from behind to win 29-27.

HELMETTUFTSROAD WARRIORS – The TUFTS UNIVERSITY JUMBOS kicked around their hosts the AMHERST COLLEGE MAMMOTHS to the tune of 34-14   ###   Elsewhere, the UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND NOR’EASTERS edged the CURRY COLLEGE COLONELS 19-13   ###   And the FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE DIPLOMATS won 27-17 at the MCDANIEL COLLEGE GREEN TERROR.   

Pomona Pitzer SagehensHARD-HITTING HENS – The POMONA-PITZER COLLEGE SAGEHENS traveled to take on the UNIVERSITY OF LA VERNE LEOPARDS. The Sagehens kept the Leopards off the scoreboard until the 4th Quarter while leading them 7-0 by Halftime and 14-0 in the 3rd. The game ended in a 20-7 PPC win.

NJCAA DIVISION ONE

Hutchinson Blue DragonsONE AND TWO STAY UNDEFEATED – The number 1 team in the nation – the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS – improved to 7-0 with a 27-18 triumph over the GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS    ###    And the 2nd ranked IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS went 8-0 as they won 28-21 at the (7) BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES.

dodge city conquistadors NEWDOWN GOES NUMBER NINE – The 14th ranked DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS welcomed the number 9 IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS. Halftime found the Tritons clinging to a 23-20 edge. That became 30-27 in the 3rd Quarter and finally a 34-30 Conquistadors victory in the 4th.

snow college badgers newSHUTOUTS – The (6) SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS thoroughly manhandled the visiting PACIFIC NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN COLLEGE GLADIATORS by a score of 55-0    ###    And the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES outdid the Badgers by one point in their 56-0 shutout of their guests the COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE LIONS.

Itawamba College IndiansGETTING A JUMP ON THE WEEKEND – On Thursday night the ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS were on the road against the HINDS COLLEGE EAGLES. A 10-0 Halftime lead for the Indians became 10-7 in the 3rd Quarter before Itawamba College won by a final score of 26-14. 

NJCAA DIVISION THREE (no football in their D2)

Central Lakes Brainerd RaidersTHAT WAS NUMBER FIIIVE! – The CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE AT BRAINERD RAIDERS (should be the Brainstorms) traveled to take on the 5th ranked MINNESOTA STATE TECHNICAL COLLEGE SPARTANS. The Raiders rose to the occasion and took charge for a 26-12 Upset win.

DuPage ChaparralsNUMBER ONE DOMINATES – The top ranked two-time defending National Champions – the COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS – paid a visit to the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS. The Chaparrals embarrassed the Hawks on both sides of the ball, ultimately smacking them down 39-6. 

Hudson Valley Vikings helmetWE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE OUT – In this game the HUDSON VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS (should be the Dutch) found themselves on the road against the ERIE COLLEGE KATS. Neither team scored until the 4th Quarter, when Hudson Valley won out 7-6.

Mesabi TechSHUTOUT – The MINNESOTA NORTH COLLEGE AT MESABI RANGE NORSE welcomed the MNC-VERMILION IRONHAWKS (formerly Ironmen). A 6-0 1st Quarter lead for the Norse became 20-0 by Halftime. It was all defense after the break, with Mesabi Range beating the Ironhawks by that same 20-0 score.

American River College BeaversKICKING BUTTE – The 7th ranked AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS took on the home standing number 5 BUTTE COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS. The Beavers shut out the Roadrunners the entire opening Half for a 24-0 lead. After the break American River College kept their distance from BC for a 40-12 smackdown.

Santa monica college corsairsINSTANT CLASSICS – The SANTA MONICA COLLEGE CORSAIRS survived a 35-34 visit from the LOS ANGELES SOUTHWEST COLLEGE COUGARS   ###   Meanwhile, the (8) GOLDEN WEST COLLEGE RUSTLERS won 20-17 at the SAN BERNARDINO VALLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES   ###   And the PASADENA CITY COLLEGE LANCERS likewise won 20-17 at the PIERCE COLLEGE BRAHMA BULLS.

San Diego Mesa CollegeOLYMPIAN EFFORT – In this game the SAN DIEGO MESA COLLEGE OLYMPIANS hosted the MOUNT SAN JACINTO COLLEGE EAGLES. The Olympians parlayed a 14-7 1st Quarter lead into a 43-13 Halftime advantage and ultimately a 46-27 victory.

bakersfield renegadesHAPPY HOME STANDS – The BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE RENEGADES defeated the MOORPARK COLLEGE RAIDERS by a score of 25-17   ###   Elsewhere, the MONTEREY PENINSULA COLLEGE LOBOS doubled-up on the HARTNELL COLLEGE PANTHERS 40-20   ###   And the SANTA ANA COLLEGE DONS obliterated the COMPTON COLLEGE TARTARS 57-0.
