Endicott Gulls helmet“THAT WAS NUMBER FIIIIIVE!” – In NCAA Division Three, the ENDICOTT COLLEGE GULLS welcomed the number 5 team in the nation – the HARDIN-SIMMONS UNIVERSITY COWBOYS. For once Endicott didn’t choke in the spotlight, leading the Cowboys 3-0, 17-3 and 37-3 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters respectively. In the 4th, a garbage time TD from HSU made the final score 37-10.

Montana Tech Orediggers brand newNUMBER SEVEN TAKES A FALL – Up in the NAIA, the number 15 MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS faced the visiting 7th ranked COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES. The Orediggers parlayed a 17-7 opening Quarter lead into a 34-21 Halftime advantage. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Coyotes making it a 37-35 game before Montana Tech added a 4th Quarter TD to win out 44-35.

Williamson Trade HelmetUSCAA GAME OF THE WEEK – This USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) affair pitted the WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS against the CAPP ACADEMY CRUSADERS. In a driving rain, the Mechanics led the Crusaders 7-0 in the 1st and 10-0 at the Half. A scoreless 3rd Quarter was followed by a CAPP rally attempt in the 4th as Williamson won the game 25-14.

Merchant Marine AcademyA TALE OF TWO SERVICE ACADEMIES – The UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS battled the MARITIME COLLEGE PRIVATEERS and routed them 36-19    ###    And the COAST GUARD ACADEMY BEARS, on the other hand, got demolished 63-14 at the SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE PRIDE.

Alfred SaxonsWE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE OUT – The ALFRED UNIVERSITY SAXONS visited the CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY CARDINALS. The only points scored in the 1st Quarter came off a Safety for the Saxons but the Cardinals went up 6-2 by the break. Alfred U. made it a 9-6 game in the 3rd Quarter, which held up as the final score, too.

Navarro CollegeNUMBER THREE TAKES A FALL – In the NJCAA the NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS traveled to face the number 3 team in the nation – the KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS. The Rangers led 13-0 at the Half but the Bulldogs came out of the locker room energized for a comeback. Late in the 4th Quarter Navarro College managed a come from behind Upset 24-20.

San Mateo BulldogsCLOSE CALLS FOR ONE AND TWO – The CCCAA’s top-ranked COLLEGE OF SAN MATEO BULLDOGS survived a 24-23 visit from the (5) AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS    ###    And the number 2 RIVERSIDE CITY COLLEGE TIGERS won a 45-44 shootout at the PALOMAR COLLEGE COMETS.

Reinhardt U Eagles helmetOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be Rottweilers) snuck past the number 12 GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS 28-24   ###   Meanwhile, the 23rd ranked ST. THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS (should be Tomcats) won 38-20 at the number 13 TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS   ###   And the BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS knocked off the 25th ranked GRACELAND UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS 45-42.

Jamestown College JimmiesBOOKEND SCORING – The UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES played host to the DOANE UNIVERSITY TIGERS in this game. The 1st Quarter ended with the Jimmies on top 7-0. Neither team scored again until the 4th, when the University of Jamestown won a 10-7 thriller.

midamerica nazarene other wayUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS survived a 27-24 visit from the CLARKE UNIVERSITY PRIDE   ###   Elsewhere, the EVANGEL UNIVERSITY VALOR overcame the OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (KS) BRAVES 27-21   ###   And the BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY CHARGERS defeated the HASTINGS COLLEGE BRONCOS in a 19-16 clash.

Saint Mary SpiresIN-SPIRE-ING VICTORY – The UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES paid a visit to the BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES. The Spires dominated the game from start to finish, converting a 30-0 1st Quarter lead into a 37-12 Halftime advantage and ultimately a 57-18 beatdown win.

warner royals yellow helmetOBLITERATION – The WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS took it on the road against the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS on Saturday. The Royals seized a quick 21-0 lead in the opening Quarter and never looked back. In the end Warner University won by a final score of SIXTY-THREE to SIX.

Siena Heights SaintsCLOBBERING TIME – The SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS won 58-14 at the JUDSON UNIVERSITY EAGLES   ###   The AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES crushed the visiting UNIVERSITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE EAGLES (should be the Flamingos) 50-6   ###   And the OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT ravaged their hosts the SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS 52-10.

Austin CollegeROAD ‘ROOS – The AUSTIN COLLEGE KANGAROOS found themselves on the road against the CROWN COLLEGE POLARS. The Kangaroos were up 10-0 in the 1st Quarter but the Polars cut that to a 16-14 edge come Halftime. After the break Austin College outscored Crown College 18-9 for a 34-23 victory.

Campbellsville UniversityFIGHTING LIKE CATS AND DOGS – In this game the CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS clashed with their guests the UNION COLLEGE BULLDOGS. A 23-20 Tigers edge at the midpoint ended up as a 37-27 triumph for C-Ville when all of the dust had settled. 

NCAA DIVISION TWO

Kutztown Golden Bears helmetUPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – There was only one Upset in the D2 rankings yesterday, and it came as the KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN BEARS traveled to face the number 14 SHEPHERD UNIVERSITY RAMS. A scoreless 1st Quarter was followed by a 6-0 Golden Bears edge at the break. That became a 13-3 lead in the 3rd Quarter and finally a 20-3 Kutztown victory in the 4th.

Tuskegee Golden TigersFOUR QUARTERS WEREN’T ENOUGH – In Double Overtime, the TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY GOLDEN TIGERS ultimately emerged with a 28-22 win over the LANE COLLEGE DRAGONS    ###    And the UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT THE PERMIAN BASIN FALCONS took down the WEST TEXAS A&M BUFFALOES in a 41-40 Single Overtime affair.

Adams StateONE-POINT WONDER – The ADAMS STATE GRIZZLIES welcomed the FORT LEWIS COLLEGE SKYHAWKS. At the break the Skyhawks held a 17-16 edge, but the Grizzlies inched their way on top from there. The final tally was Adams State 25  Fort Lewis College 24.

california pa vulcansALL NAME GAMES – The CALIFORNIA (PA) UNIVERSITY VULCANS won a 31-10 road game against the EDINBORO UNIVERSITY FIGHTING SCOTS   ###   Meanwhile, the NORTHWOOD UNIVERSITY TIMBER WOLVES eviscerated the visiting ERIE COLLEGE STORM 68-14   ###   And the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM beat down the NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE RANGERS to the tune of 41-2.

NCAA DIVISION THREE

Grove City Wolverines newOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The GROVE CITY COLLEGE WOLVERINES took the field against the visiting 14th ranked CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY TARTANS. The Wolverines put the Tartans on Upset Alert at Halftime with their 14-0 advantage, then carried through with a 21-14 triumph.

Claremont Mudd Scripps CollegeCOOL-NAME BOWLS – The CLAREMONT-MUDD-SCRIPPS COLLEGE STAGS bested the CAL LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY KINGSMEN 49-28   ###   Elsewhere, the AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY AUGGIES won a 33-31 nail biter against the GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS UNIVERSITY GUSTIES   ###   And the AMHERST COLLEGE MAMMOTHS downed the HAMILTON COLLEGE CONTINENTALS 17-14.

Brevard College Tornadoes helmetMARATHON GAME OF THE WEEK – That label applies to the game pitting the BREVARD COLLEGE TORNADOES against their guests the MARYVILLE COLLEGE SCOTS. A 9-7 edge for the Scots at the Half wound up with the Tornadoes tying things up 29-29 to end the 4th. The 1st OT ended 32-32 and the 2nd in a 35-35 deadlock before a Safety in Triple Overtime gave Brevard College the win 37-35.

Eureka red devilsHAPPY HOME STANDS – The EUREKA COLLEGE RED DEVILS prevailed 21-17 over the ST. NORBERT COLLEGE GREEN KNIGHTS   ###   Elsewhere, the FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE DIPLOMATS manhandled the COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY LIONS 34-9   ###   And the COLLEGE OF WOOSTER SCOTS dismembered the visiting KENYON COLLEGE LORDS to the tune of 70-21.

NJCAA DIVISION ONE

jones college bobcatsOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The 12th ranked JONES COLLEGE BOBCATS played host to the number 10 COPIAH-LINCOLN COLLEGE WOLFPACK and toppled them 42-32    ###    And the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES defeated the home standing 14th ranked GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS in a very bizarre 3-0 affair.

Hutchinson Blue DragonsONE AND TWO ROLL – The country’s number 1 HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS smoked the visiting COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS by a final score of 37-7    ###    And the 2nd ranked IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS crushed their hosts the ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS 42-7.

New Mexico Mil Inst BroncosBACK IN THE WIN COLUMN – The NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (should be Cavalry) bounced back this week at the BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS. A 7-7 Halftime tie turned into a 17-14 3rd Quarter edge for the Institute. With no points in the 4th, 17-14 was the final score, too.

iowa central college tritons helmetROAD RAGE – The (4) IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS hammered their hosts the COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS in a 41-14 laugher    ###    And the (6) SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS pulled off a 15-6 win at the DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS. 

NJCAA DIVISION THREE (no football in Div Two) 

community christian college lionsUNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – The COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE LIONS traveled to take on the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS on Saturday. The Lions wanted revenge for losing to the Hawks in front of their own fans the last time these teams met. Community Christian College got their wish in an 18-13 thriller at Hocking.

North Dakota State College of Science helmet NEWNUMBER TWO TRIES HARDER – The 2nd ranked NORTH DAKOTA STATE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE WILDCATS defended their home field against the MINNESOTA NORTH COLLEGE AT VERMILLION IRONHAWKS. By Halftime the Wildcats had accumulated a 20-3 lead and as the 4th Quarter ended NDSCS held a 41-10 win.

Mesabi TechHOME AND AWAY – The “home” in this title was the (5) MINNESOTA NORTH COLLEGE AT MESABI RANGE NORSE downing their guests the CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE AT BRAINERD RAIDERS (should be the Brainstorms) 33-10    ###    And the “away” part saw the (3) ROCHESTER TECHNICAL COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS sting their hosts the MINNESOTA WEST TECH BLUE JAYS 36-15.

Lackawanna College Falcons helmetROAD WARRIORS – The LACKAWANNA COLLEGE FALCONS teased the NASSAU COUNTY COLLEGE LIONS with an 8-0 1st Quarter edge, then proceeded to devastate them 49-0    ###    And the EAST COAST ACADEMY FIREBIRDS doubled-up on the HUDSON VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS (should be Dutch) 26-13.

Mount San Antonio College MountiesTHREE AND FOUR ROLL – The number 3 MOUNT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES doubled up on the home standing 7th ranked CITRUS COLLEGE OWLS 42-21    ###    Elsewhere, the 4th ranked CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO RAMS won a 45-24 blowout at the number 20 FRESNO CITY COLLEGE RAMS.

College of the Sequoias helmetWORKING OVERTIME – The (25) COLLEGE OF THE SEQUOIAS GIANTS (should be the Redwoods) visited the SHASTA COLLEGE KNIGHTS. A 31-14 Halftime lead for the Knights turned into a 34-34 tie to end the 4th Quarter. In the extra session the Knights notched a Field Goal but the Giants got a TD and won it 40-37.

San Diego Mesa CollegeALL NAME GAMES – The (14) SAN DIEGO MESA COLLEGE OLYMPIANS made their hosts the GROSSMONT COLLEGE GRIFFINS their prison brides 45-3   ###   Meanwhile, the COLLEGE OF THE DESERT ROADRUNNERS won a 50-28 rout at the PIERCE COLLEGE BRAHMA BULLS   ###   And the SANTA ANA COLLEGE DONS eviscerated the SANTA MONICA COLLEGE CORSAIRS 49-3. 

bakersfield renegadesINSTANT CLASSIC – This game pitted the (17) BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE RENEGADES against the home standing ANTELOPE VALLEY COLLEGE MARAUDERS. The Renegades were up 15-6 at the Half, but the Marauders cut that to a 15-13 score in the 3rd Quarter. The 4th saw Bakersfield College eke out a 22-19 win.

  1. Wasn’t aware SH even had a football team. Any team for that matter. I may have to shift my attentions from good ole South Hamtramck to SH. Now THERE would be a game worthy of a Saturday afternoon. When, do you suppose, the EnEfEl will wake up to realize what football is all about? Um, nevah mine, silly me, it’s all about the Moola. You know the fight song — “Moola, Moola, Estabula, we get tooya, getchercash! Rah rah, gimme a beer!”
