Here is another college team staying far away from the overused names like Eagles, Tigers, Bulldogs and Wildcats.

Comment: Quincy College was established in 1958 and has over 4,500 students. Famous alumni include Boston Police Commissioner William G. Gross and Massachusetts Congressman Bruce Ayers. The Quincy College Granite is among eight new teams in the USCAA this fall.

  2. This is a high school team – my son’s school was Quander Road, and their mascot was the Cobra. The team was the Cobras. I haven’t encountered a sports team named after a snake. The only reptiles I know about are the Horned Frogs and the Gators.

    But a rock – that is really imaginative and strong at the same time.

    • Yeah, that is pretty cool! For snakes among college teams there’s the Parkland College Cobras, the Virginia Intermont College Cobras (now defunct), the Otero College Rattlers, the Florida A&M Rattlers, the Florida Southern College Mocs (short for Moccasins), and for another one like the Gators there’s the Hostos College Caimans. Hope you like those!
