Comment: Founded in 1963, this institution has a student body of over 18,600. The college grounds are along Jamaica Bay, Sheepshead Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Famous alumni include heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe, comedian Andrew Dice Clay and KISS drummer Eric Carr, who took over from Peter Criss in 1980.
