INDIANA WESLEYAN CONQUERS DIVISION ONE – We already have 2021’s 2nd instance of an NAIA team toppling an NCAA Division ONE team. Every season these games in which NAIA football teams knock off teams from higher divisions like NCAA Divisions One or Two are great David vs Goliath stories! Yesterday the INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS hosted the D1 VALPARAISO UNIVERSITY BEACONS and won an authoritative 28-10 Upset.
LAWRENCE TECH CONQUERS DIVISION TWO – In the equivalent of a 1AA (FCS) team upsetting a 1A (FBS) team, the NAIA’s LAWRENCE TECH BLUE DEVILS took it on the road against the NCAA Division Two team the BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUE. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie was unchanged at Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 14-14 deadlock before the Blue Devils won the game 21-14 in the 4th.
DOWN GOES NUMBER ELEVEN – Meanwhile, down in NCAA Division Three the 19th ranked WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE PRESIDENTS traveled to face the number 11 JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY BLUE STREAKS. The defenses dominated the scoreless 1st Half, then the 3rd Quarter ended in a 7-7 tie. In the 4th the Presidents won it 21-7.
WEST FLORIDA CONQUERS DIVISION ONE – The defending National Champions of D2 football – the UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS – were on the road against the NCAA Division One MCNEESE STATE COWBOYS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie turned into a 21-16 Argonauts edge at the Half. UWF led 28-22 in the 3rd Quarter before winning the game 42-36.
NUMBER ONE TAKES A FALL – In the NJCAA the COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS hosted the top ranked defending National Champions – the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS. The Red Ravens put the Blue Dragons on Upset Alert by Halftime with a 10-7 edge, then sealed the deal with a 17-10 victory over Hutchinson.
NAIA VS NCAA DIVISION THREE
NAIA OVER NCAA DIVISION 3 – The VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS visited the CONCORDIA-MOORHEAD COBBERS on Saturday. The Vikings were on top 13-0 in the 1st Quarter, then 19-0 at the Half. After the break the Cobbers rallied, pulling to within 25-18 in the 3rd Quarter, then falling short in the 4th as Valley City State survived 35-32.
NCAA DIVISION THREE OVER NAIA – The UW-STEVENS POINT POINTERS won 31-14 at the MAYVILLE STATE COMETS ### The (7) HARDIN-SIMMONS COWBOYS eradicated the WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS 49-0 ### Meanwhile the UW-LACROSSE EAGLES downed the DAKOTA STATE TROJANS 42-21 in their own house ### And the UW-STOUT BLUE DEVILS won a 42-14 blowout at the PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS.
RESULT – The NAIA defeated NCAA D1 teams on Thursday and Saturday, which count for 3 wins each over Division 3 teams, and defeated a Division 2 team, counting for 2 such victories. The NAIA wins this week 9 points to 4.

UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The traveling MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS toppled the number 14 DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS in a 25-24 thriller ### Meanwhile the TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS brought down the 15th ranked ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM 35-28 ### The ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS knocked off their hosts the number 19 COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES 33-30 ### And the FAULKNER EAGLES hammered the (22) SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE 31-14.
HISTORY – The DAKOTA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be the Blue Tigers) visited the MOUNT MARTY UNIVERSITY LANCERS, who were playing in their FIRST EVER intercollegiate football game. By Halftime the Tigers were on top 13-3. Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter but in the 4th Dakota Wesleyan U carried through for a 20-3 victory.
OVERLOOKED CLASSICS – The CENTRAL METHODIST UNIVERSITY EAGLES won a 27-24 thriller against the visiting PERU STATE BOBCATS ### And the WALDORF UNIVERSITY WARRIORS defeated their hosts the SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES by a score of 24-17.
BATTLE OF MIAMI GARDENS – This game pitted the SAINT THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS (should be the Tomcats) against their guests the FLORIDA MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY LIONS. A 7-7 tie in the opening Quarter turned into a 28-16 advantage for the Bobcats at the Half. After the break Saint Thomas University outscored the Lions 10-6 to win the game 38-22.
BLOWOUT – The SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS hosted the OTTAWA (KS) UNIVERSITY BRAVES yesterday. A close 20-13 lead for the Moundbuilders at the midpoint rapidly got out of hand in the 2nd Half. The end result was a 41-13 blowout victory for Southwestern College over the Braves.

KINGS OF THE JUNGLE – The SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS took on the home standing LOUISIANA COLLEGE WILDCATS. A 6-3 Halftime edge for the Lions became a 6-6 tie to end the 3rd Quarter. In the explosive 4th SAGU pulled out a 20-13 triumph.
WARRIOR FEST – The STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS played host to the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES. It was pretty much all Warriors in this clash as Sterling College led 21-7 in the opening Quarter and 28-10 at the Half. From there the Warriors coasted to an authoritative 49-10 blowout victory.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – The OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be the Purple Tigers) welcomed the SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS yesterday. The 1st Quarter ended in a 7-7 tie with the Saints going on top 14-10 at the midpoint. The Tigers outscored Siena Heights 10-3 in the 2nd Half to win the game 20-17.
COMEBACK CATS – In this game the GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY PANTHERS welcomed the MILLIKIN COLLEGE BIG BLUE. The Panthers were chasing the Big Blue 14-7 in the 1st Quarter and 27-21 at the midpoint. Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter, following which Greenville University managed a 37-33 come from behind win.
SEVENTY-SIX – The OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT took the field against the visiting LYON COLLEGE SCOTS. The Spirit seized a quick 34-0 1st Quarter lead and never looked back from there. When all was said and done Ottawa U had folded, spindled and mutilated the Scots in a SEVENTY-SIX to TEN laugher.

UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The MICHIGAN TECH HUSKIES overcame their guests, the storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS, in a 14-10 old school defensive battle ### Meanwhile the SAGINAW VALLEY STATE CARDINALS survived a similar 13-9 visit from the TEXAS A&M AT KINGSVILLE JAVELINAS ### And the SHIPPENSBURG UNIVERSITY RED RAIDERS defeated the WEST VIRGINIA STATE YELLOW JACKETS 25-17.
WISE OWLS – The SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE OWLS found themselves on the road against the CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE BLUE DEVILS. A 14-14 Halftime tie was followed by a scoreless 3rd Quarter. In the 4th the Owls made their move and emerged with a 28-21 triumph.
SHUTOUTS – The UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA AT WISE HIGHLAND CAVALIERS obliterated the VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY IN LYNCHBURG DRAGONS to the tune of 54-0 ### Meanwhile the HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON defeated the EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY TIGERS 28-0 ### And the LOCK HAVEN UNIVERSITY BALD EAGLES notched a 20-0 victory at the LINCOLN UNIVERSITY (PA) LIONS.
STORM WARNING – The LAKE ERIE COLLEGE STORM blew onto the field of the home standing CLARION UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Storm held a 21-7 lead at Halftime. The Golden Eagles pulled to within 28-20 to end the 3rd Quarter before Lake Erie College won by a final tally of 31-26.
NCAA DIVISION THREE
INSTANT CLASSIC – The CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS welcomed the WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY GENERALS. The Captains led 7-0 in the opening Quarter before the Generals knotted things up at 14-14 come Halftime. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter Christopher Newport University emerged with a 28-24 victory.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The SOUTHERN VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS (should be the Danites) won a 41-34 Overtime affair at the WILMINGTON COLLEGE QUAKERS ### And the BENEDICTINE UNIVERSITY EAGLES emerged with a 34-31 extra session victory over their hosts the KENYON COLLEGE LORDS.
EIGHTY – The GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE GUSTIES found themselves on the road against the BUENA VISTA UNIVERSITY BEAVERS. Despite trailing 16-14 in the 1st Quarter the Gusties went up 38-30 by the Half. After the break Gustavus Adolphus College reigned supreme, winning by a final score of EIGHTY to FIFTY-EIGHT!
SERVICE ACADEMY MANIA – The UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS paid a visit to the FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON UNIVERSITY AT FLORHAM DEVILS and routed them 49-27 ### And the COAST GUARD ACADEMY BEARS won a 16-0 shutout at the NEW ENGLAND UNIVERSITY NOR’EASTERS.
BATTLE OF COOL-NAMED TEAMS – The SAINT NORBERT COLLEGE GREEN KNIGHTS welcomed the LORAS COLLEGE DUHAWKS on Saturday. Neither team scored in the 1st Quarter but the Green Knights led the Duhawks 7-0 at the break. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 14-14 tie and the 4th in a 21-14 Saint Norbert College victory.
NJCAA
INSTANT CLASSIC – This game pitted the SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE BEARS against the visiting ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS. A 24-7 Bears lead at Halftime turned into a more competitive affair after the break. The Indians led 28-27 early in the 4th Quarter before Southwest Mississippi College roared back to win by a final count of 41-35.
ROAD WARRIORS – The IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS smacked down the DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS in a 38-14 rout ### Meanwhile the KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS handed a 49-28 defeat to the TYLER COLLEGE APACHES ### And the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS utterly humiliated the ERIE COLLEGE KATS to the tune of SIXTY to FOURTEEN.
A WHUPPIN’ AT THE WOOL BOWL – The NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (should be the Cavalry) welcomed the PAPAGO PUMAS to their home stadium the Wool Bowl. The Broncos had put together a 27-3 lead by the Half and then kept up the pressure from there, ultimately winning the game 40-9.
SKYLANDERS IN FLIGHT – The SUSSEX COUNTY COLLEGE SKYLANDERS took it on the road against the NEW JERSEY WARRIORS to start the season. By Halftime the Skylanders had accumulated a 21-0 lead and after the break maintained their dominance for a 35-6 final score.
RUCKUS ON THE ROAD – This game pitted the VERMILION COLLEGE IRONMEN against the home standing MESABI RANGE COLLEGE NORSE. The action went back and forth as the Ironmen led 21-7 by the midpoint and after the break went on to defeat the Norse by a final tally of 41-27.
