GOLDEN STATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: FIRST SEMIFINAL – The 4 seeds – the ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM – took on the top seeded WESTMONT COLLEGE WARRIORS (should be the Guardians). The Firestorm put the Warriors on Upset Alert by Halftime with a 50-41 advantage, then carried through, winning by a Century Club-level score of 102-86. De’Ron Kyle put up 29 points to lead Arizona Christian University.
GOLDEN STATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: SECOND SEMIFINAL – In this game the 6th seeded HOPE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY ROYALS clashed with the 3 seeds – the MENLO COLLEGE OAKS. The Oaks were on top 37-28 at the Half but after the break the underdog Royals came roaring back for a 77-72 comeback victory. Michael Fry’s 17 points led the way for Hope International.
MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE: PLAY-IN GAME – The 9 seeds – the LIFE UNIVERSITY RUNNING EAGLES – played the 8th seeded CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX for the right to advance. The Running Eagles were on top 37-31 by the midpoint, then held off the Phoenix to win the game 69-65. Life University (not affiliated with the School of Hard Knocks) was led by 20 points from Antwan Maxwell.
SOUTHERN STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: FIRST SEMIFINAL – This game pitted the 2nd seeded DALTON STATE ROADRUNNERS against the 3 seeds – the STILLMAN COLLEGE TIGERS. A 42-33 Halftime lead for the Roadrunners ultimately resulted in a 79-70 triumph for Dalton State. Randy Bell tossed in 17 points to lead the Roadrunners.
SOUTHERN STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: SECOND SEMIFINAL – The 4 seeds – the LOYOLA UNIVERSITY (LA) WOLFPACK took the court against the top seeded FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Furies). A 37-37 tie at the Half got Faulkner’s attention before the Wolfpack dispatched them with a 69-66 victory. Tim Cameron’s 18 points led Loyola U.
GULF STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: FIRST QUARTERFINAL – The 3rd seeded XAVIER UNIVERSITY (LA) GOLD RUSH did battle with the 6 seeds – the RUST COLLEGE BEARCATS. By the break the Gold Rush were on top 35-27, then in the 2nd Half got more and more separation from the Bearcats. The final score was Xavier University 87 Rust College 57. William Loyd led the way for the Gold Rush with 24 points.
GULF STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: SECOND QUARTERFINAL – In the 4 seed vs 5 seed game the (4) TALLADEGA COLLEGE TORNADOES faced the (5) PHILANDER SMITH COLLEGE PANTHERS. The Tornadoes were in charge 45-26 come Halftime, then kept up the pressure for a Century Club-level 101-70 blowout win. Seventeen points from Morris Dunnigan led Talladega College.
GULF STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: THIRD QUARTERFINAL – The top seeds – the DILLARD UNIVERSITY BLEU DEVILS – clashed with the 8th seeded EDWARD WATERS COLLEGE TIGERS. The Bleu Devils led 47-35 at the Half but the Tigers gave them almost more than they could handle from there. Dillard University held on for a 76-73 triumph. Malik Amos notched 23 points to lead the Bleu Devils.
GULF STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: FOURTH QUARTERFINAL – The 2nd seeded TOUGALOO COLLEGE BULLDOGS duked it out with the 7 seeds – the SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY AT NEW ORLEANS KNIGHTS. The Bulldogs mauled the Knights from start to finish, leading 42-28 at the break before winning it 88-65. Stanley Williams led Tougaloo to victory with his 18 points.

REGION 1 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last 2 teams standing in this Region were the EASTERN ARIZONA COLLEGE GILA MONSTERS and the ARIZONA WESTERN COLLEGE MATADORS. The Gila Monsters led the Matadors 44-36 at Halftime on their way to a 93-73 victory. Jalen Brown’s 27 points led Eastern Arizona College. * THE GILA MONSTERS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE REGION 1 TOURNAMENT *
PLAINS DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 5 seeds – the COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS – took the court against the 3rd seeded BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES. The Grizzlies were on top 44-39 at the break before the Red Ravens came from behind to win it 83-81. Melkell Murray tossed in 15 points to lead Coffeyville College. * THE RED RAVENS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE PLAINS DISTRICT TOURNAMENT *
SOUTH CENTRAL DISTRICT SEMIFINALS – The NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN tangled with the NORTHERN OKLAHOMA COLLEGE AT ENID JETS and beat them 85-63 ### And the MURRAY STATE (OK) AGGIES, meanwhile, downed the NORTHERN OKLAHOMA COLLEGE AT TONKAWA MAVERICKS 79-73.
NORTHWEST PLAINS DISTRICT SEMIFINALS – The NORTHEASTERN (CO) COLLEGE PLAINSMEN took down the WESTERN NEBRASKA COLLEGE COUGARS in a wild and woolly 94-84 shootout ### And the WESTERN WYOMING COLLEGE MUSTANGS won their 87-74 battle with the storied GILLETTE COLLEGE PRONGHORNS.
MID-SOUTH DISTRICT SEMIFINALS – The 2nd seeded ANGELINA COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS played the 3 seeds – the NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS – and defeated them by a score of 68-55 ### And the 4 seeds – the BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS – edged the 9th seeded JACKSONVILLE COLLEGE JAGUARS in a 91-83 affair.
