COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 28th

Kentucky_St_OLD1DIVISION TWO OVER DIVISION ONE – The KENTUCKY STATE THOROBREDS from NCAA Division 2 traveled to face Division 1’s JACKSON STATE TIGERS. The Thorobreds trailed the Tigers 10-6 in the 1st Quarter before doubling up on them 20-10 come Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Kentucky State up 33-10 but the Thorobreds had to hold on tight in the 4th for a 33-25 Upset triumph. 

Charleston Golden Eagles helmet NEWDIVISION TWO OVER DIVISION ONE, THE STUNNING SEQUEL THEY SAID COULDN’T BE MADE – In another D2 over D1 Upset D2’s UNIVERSITY OF CHARLESTON (WV) GOLDEN EAGLES visited D1’s VALPARAISO UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie turned into a 13-10 Crusaders lead at the Half. The Golden Eagles shut out Valparaiso from there and won the game 19-13.

ASA Avengers white helmetNINETY-EIGHT – Meanwhile, in the NJCAA, the ASA COLLEGE (NY) AVENGERS took it on the road against the NEW JERSEY WARRIORS. The Avengers proceeded to fold, spindle and mutilate the Warriors, outclassing them on both sides of the ball. In the end ASA College won it NINETY-EIGHT to NINE!

Eau Claire Blugolds helmetDOWN GOES NUMBER SIX – Over in NCAA Division Three the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT EAU CLAIRE BLUGOLDS welcomed the number 6 team in the nation – the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT THOMAS TOMMIES. By the break the Blugolds had the Tommies on Upset Alert with a 21-7 lead, then withstood a furious UST rally in the 2nd Half for a 21-19 victory.

Williamson Trade HelmetUSCAA SPOTLIGHT GAME – The WILIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS, from the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association), played host to the GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY PATRIOTS on Saturday. The Mechanics defended their home field in style, downing their opponents 39-18.

HillsdaleSHUTOUT FOR HILLSDALE – The storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS took on the visiting WALSH UNIVERSITY CAVALIERS. Neither team scored in the 1st Quarter but the Chargers were on top 13-0 by the midpoint. From there Hillsdale College went on to win the game 30-0.

Keiser SeahawksUPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – There was only one Upset in the NAIA rankings yesterday and that came in the game between the 24th ranked KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS and their hosts, the number 23 CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX. The Seahawks stunned the Phoenix by taking them down 38-26. 

Lyon College ScotsHAPPY HOMECOMINGS – The LYON COLLEGE SCOTS celebrated Homecoming with a 53-45 shootout win over the TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS   ###   Meanwhile the (7) GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS (should be the Zebras) edged the (12) EVANGEL UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS 32-28   ###   And the (19) MONTANA-WESTERN BULLDOGS crushed the EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS 49-13.

Dickinson State Blue Hawks helmet NEWWORKIN’ OVERTIME – The (16) DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS welcomed the WALDORF COLLEGE WARRIORS. A 7-7 Halftime Tie turned into a 21-7 Blue Hawks lead to end the 3rd Quarter. The Warriors forced Overtime with a 21-21 tie in the 4th. In the extra session Dickinson State won the game 28-21.

Southwestern College Moundbuilders NEWRAINING ON THEIR PARADES – The SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS ruined Mom’s Weekend for their hosts the BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES by beating them 34-10    ###    And the MAYVILLE STATE COMETS spoiled the PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS’ Homecoming with a 34-15 road win.  

Arizona Christian Univ helmet GOODUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM defeated the visiting SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS in a 27-20 thriller   ###   Meanwhile the BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS edged the STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS 31-26   ###   And the SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS survived a 29-28 visit from the CARROLL (MT) FIGHTING SAINTS.

Dordt College DefendersBLOWOUTS – The DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS hammered their guests the DAKOTA WESLEYAN TIGERS (should be the Blue Tigers) 57-22    ###    And the (25) MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS mangled the homestanding MONTANA STATE-NORTHERN LIGHTS to the tune of 42-0.

Warner Memorial U Royals helmetUPSET IN THE RANKINGS – The (7) WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS visited the (5) KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS on Saturday. This turned out to be a very lopsided affair with the Royals dominating KCU, ultimately winning the game by a final score of 63-35.

Concordia_MINUMBER ONE PULLS THROUGH – The (1) CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS decided to go and spoil Homecoming for the SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS. A 21-21 Halftime tie turned into a 35-21 Cardinals lead in the 3rd Quarter. From there Concordia won the game 42-35. 

Ottawa (AZ) SpiritNUMBER TWO ROLLS – The (2) OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT took the field against the visiting WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (should be the Flying W’s). This was absolutely no contest as the Spirit dominated on both sides of ball, sending the Pioneers back home reeling from an EIGHTY to TWENTY-ONE beatdown.

Geneva College Golden Tornadoes goldGENEVA CONVENTION – The (9) GENEVA COLLEGE GOLDEN TORNADOES hosted the WAYNESBURG COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS yesterday. A scoreless 1st Quarter was followed by the Golden Tornadoes taking a 10-0 lead into the break. In the 2nd Half Geneva College outscored Waynesburg 17-7 for a 27-7 victory.

NCAA DIVISION TWO

CSU-PuebloUPSETS IN THE TOP FIFTEEN – The (16) COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDERWOLVES hosted the (11) TEXAS A&M AT COMMERCE LIONS and toppled them 24-17    ###    And the ANGELO STATE RAMS crushed the (14) MIDWESTERN STATE MUSTANGS by a final tally of 28-6.  

Pittsburg State GorillasUPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The traveling PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS won a 37-14 Upset at the (21) UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT KEARNEY LOPERS   ###    Meanwhile the FLORIDA TECH PANTHERS destroyed the (22) UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA WOLVES 44-10   ###   And the WAYNE STATE (MI) WARRIORS edged the (25) SAGINAW VALLEY CARDINALS 24-20.  

Frostburg State BobcatsA DOUBLE SHOT OF THAT OT LOVE – Four Quarters weren’t enough. One Overtime was not enough. In the game between the FROSTBURG STATE BOBCATS and their hosts the FAIRMONT STATE FALCONS it took Double Overtime before the Bobcats emerged with a 41-34 triumph.

Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm NEWSTORM FRONT – This game pitted the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM against the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM. The Crimson Storm grabbed a 7-0 1st Quarter edge that remained unchanged at Halftime. In the 3rd Quarter the Savage Storm went up 14-7 but in the 4th Southern Nazarene University came back to win the game 22-21.

Pace Setters helmetDOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The PACE UNIVERSITY SETTERS (Irish Setters) hosted the SAINT ANSELM UNIVERSITY HAWKS and trounced them 42-21   ###    And the SHIPPENSBURG UNIVERSITY RED RAIDERS tore apart the BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY HUSKIES to the tune of 30-15. 

NCAA DIVISION THREE

Bethel (MN) Royals helmetCLOSE CALL FOR NUMBER EIGHT – The number 8 team in the nation – the BETHEL (MN) ROYALS – got almost more than they could handle at the GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE GUSTIES. The Royals led 14-7 at Halftime but the Gusties tied things up at 14-14 to end the 3rd Quarter. An explosive 4th ended with Bethel University winning out 35-33.  

Merchant Marine AcademyS.A.M. – SERVICE ACADEMY MANIA – The MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS took it on the road against the MAINE MARITIME MARINERS and obliterated them SIXTY-TWO to THIRTEEN    ###    And the COAST GUARD ACADEMY BEARS won a 17-7 game against the visiting CURRY COLLEGE COLONELS.

Illinois College Blue Boys helmetUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The ILLINOIS COLLEGE BLUE BOYS survived a 28-25 visit from the RIPON COLLEGE REDHAWKS   ###   The KENYON COLLEGE LORDS defeated their guests the HIRAM COLLEGE TERRIERS by a score of 15-12   ###   And the COLLEGE OF SAINT SCHOLASTICA SAINTS won 28-27 at the WESTMINSTER (MO) BLUE JAYS.

Concordia Moorhead CobbersALL-NAME SHUTOUT – The CONCORDIA (Moorhead) COBBERS paid a visit to the HAMLINE UNIVERSITY PIPERS yesterday. The Cobbers parlayed a 7-0 1st Quarter lead into a 23-0 advantage by Halftime before going on to win the game FIFTY-ONE to NOTHING.

Misericordia U CougarsMARATHON GAME OF THE DAY – The MISERICORDIA UNIVERSITY COUGARS and their guests the LEBANON VALLEY UNIVERSITY AGGIES played the longest-lasting game of the day on Saturday. It ultimately took FOUR OVERTIMES before the Cougars emerged with a 35-32 victory.

Hutchinson Blue DragonsONE VERSUS TWO – The top two teams in the nation clashed yesterday as the number 1 HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS welcomed their old rivals, the 2nd ranked BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES. By Halftime the Blue Dragons were on top 21-7. After the break the Grizzlies outscored Hutchinson 20-14 but the Blue Dragons held on to win it 35-27.

ASA Miami Silver StormDOWN GOES NUMBER TEN – The ASA COLLEGE (FL) SILVER STORM played host to the number 10 team in the nation – the GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE BULLDOGS. A 7-7 tie at the Half became a 17-14 edge for the Silver Storm to end the 3rd Quarter. From there ASA College added another TD for a 24-14 Upset victory.

Highland ScottiesOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – There was just one more Upset in the NJCAA rankings and that came in the game between the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES and their guests the 15th ranked IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS. The Scotties were ahead 14-7 at the break and after a defense-dominated 2nd Half Highland College won the game 20-14.

DuPage ChaparralsINSTANT CLASSICS – The COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS edged the visiting ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS in a 39-35 thriller   ###    Meanwhile the NORTHLAND COLLEGE PIONEERS snuck by the MINNESOTA WEST BLUE JAYS 27-26   ###   And the NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (should be the Cavalry) beat the TYLER COLLEGE APACHES 20-14.

Kilgore CollegeBLOWOUTS – The KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS demolished the TEXAS A&T DRILLERS to the tune of SEVENTY to FOURTEEN   ###   The GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS clobbered the FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS 42-16   ###   And the NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN won 35-3 at the NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS.
