NCCAA DIVISION ONE
DAY ONE, GAME ONE – The top seeds – the CEDARVILLE UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS – took on the 8th seeded NEBRASKA CHRISTIAN COLLEGE SENTINELS (formerly the Parsons). The Sentinels were never really in this game as the Yellow Jackets held a 41-28 Halftime lead and then parlayed that into an 80-58 blowout win. Branden Maughmer scored 20 points to lead Cedarville University.
DAY ONE, GAME TWO – The 2nd seeded ROBERTS WESLEYAN COLLEGE REDHAWKS clashed with the 7 seed – the PIEDMONT INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY BRUINS (formerly the Conquerors). The Redhawks were clinging to a close 34-31 edge at the Half. After the break Roberts Wesleyan College squeezed out a bit more separation from the Bruins to win it 70-60. Peyton McLaurin led the Redhawks with his 23 points.
DAY ONE, GAME THREE – In this game the 3 seeds – the HANNIBAL-LAGRANGE UNIVERSITY TROJANS – faced the 6th seeded COLUMBIA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY RAMS. In this tale of two Halves the Trojans held a comfortable 43-32 advantage at the break but then had to hold on by their fingertips against a furious Rams rally. In the end Hannibal-LaGrange University survived 78-77 led by 14 points from Ryan Ward.
DAY ONE, GAME FOUR – Closing out Day One action was this battle between the 4th seeded BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS and the 5 seeds – the GRACE COLLEGE LANCERS. This Instant Classic saw the Lancers trailing the Rambling Rams at Halftime by a slim 33-32 edge. From there Bluefield College eked out a 77-74 victory. Jorge Concepcion tossed in 20 points to lead the winners.
