The Knights proceeded to annihilate the Cougars, leading them 17-0 in the 1st Quarter and 38-0 at Halftime. After the break Saint Xavier University mustered just 7 points in the 3rd Quarter while Marian University added 14 more in the 4th for a FIFTY-TWO to SEVEN blowout.
OTHER UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS were on the road against the 11th ranked SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE and slipped past them in a 27-26 Instant Classic ### And the number 24 FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES traveled to upset the 19th ranked CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS 16-10.
LOVING THE SEVENTIES – The SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS hosted the GRACELAND UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS yesterday and eviscerated them SEVENTY-SIX to FOURTEEN ### And the 12th ranked BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS sent their guests the BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES back home reeling from a SEVENTY-FIVE to SEVEN beatdown. Just burn the game tape and deny the game ever happened, Bethany.
RANKED TEAMS ROLLING – The number 1 team in the nation – the defending champion UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS – won a 42-9 blowout of the ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY EAGLES (Should be the Wind Eagles) ### Meanwhile the 3rd ranked MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS handed a 49-21 defeat to the WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN.
ALL-NAME GAME – The gridiron clash that won this category yesterday saw the AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES play host to the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS. The Gyrenes trailed the Skyhawks 2-0 to end the 1st Quarter but led 7-2 at the Half. Ave Maria University was on top 14-5 in the 3rd Quarter before winning the game 17-5.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES won a 28-26 thriller against their guests, the VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS ### The HASTINGS COLLEGE BRONCOS held on to beat the PERU STATE BOBCATS 25-21 ### And the EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS defeated the COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES by a score of 24-21.
KNIGHTS INVADE JACKSONVILLE – The SAINT ANDREWS UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS, in just their 2nd year of intercollegiate football, started their 2018 campaign by notching a road win. The Knights traveled to face the EDWARD WATERS COLLEGE (FL) TIGERS and went back home with a 15-13 victory.
SHUTOUTS – A few teams achieved Defensive Perfection yesterday: The (7) GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS mauled the visiting WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS to the tune of 49-0 ### And the CULVER-STOCKTON COLLEGE WILDCATS hammered the homestanding TRINITY BIBLE COLLEGE LIONS by a count of FIFTY-SIX to NOTHING.
SHOOTOUT IN ILLINOIS – The TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS played host to the PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS (Should be the Angels). A 7-7 1st Quarter tie turned into a 21-21 deadlock by Halftime. The Trojans were on top 35-28 to end the 3rd Quarter, and an action-packed 4th saw Trinity International win the game 53-46.
ROAD WARRIORS – The LYON COLLEGE SCOTS defeated their hosts the MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS 22-9 ### Meanwhile the WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS clobbered the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS by a score of 48-14 ### And the DOANE COLLEGE TIGERS crushed the FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS 57-3.
THE LIGHTS THAT SUCCEEDED – The MONTANA STATE-NORTHERN LIGHTS welcomed the MAYVILLE STATE COMETS to town yesterday. The Lights raced out to a quick 21-0 1st Quarter lead and converted that into a 35-14 advantage by the break. In the 2nd Half Montana State-Northern outscored the Comets 14-6 to win the game by a final tally of 49-20.
HAPPY HOME-STANDS – The BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS won a 26-14 bruiser against the visiting CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX ### The BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY CHARGERS and the WALDORF COLLEGE WARRIORS fought to a 40-13 BCU win ### And the MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS defeated the MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS 49-28.

KNOCKING OFF NUMBER THREE – The NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (Should be the Cavalry) took it on the road Friday night against the number 3 team in the nation – the ARIZONA WESTERN COLLEGE MATADORS. The Broncos were chasing the Matadors 14-9 to end the 1st Quarter and 20-19 at Halftime. A 25-23 Arizona Western College lead to start the 4th ended as a 32-30 comeback upset for New Mexico Military Institute.
OTHER UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The NASSAU COLLEGE LIONS hosted the 12th ranked ASA COLLEGE (NY) AVENGERS (Yes, Avengers). A 14-12 Halftime lead for the Lions held up as the final count after a scoreless 2nd Half. ### And the IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS toppled the number 13 BUTLER (KS) COLLEGE GRIZZLIES 26-16.
SILVER STORM LIGHTNING ATTACK – After a seemingly appropriate lightning delay of nearly 3 hours the ASA COLLEGE (FL) SILVER STORM took the field against the visiting ADVANCED PREP ACADEMY PANTHERS. The Silver Storm led 7-0 in the 1st Quarter and 21-0 at the Half before going on to win the game by a final score of FORTY-ONE to NOTHING.
WHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – In this game the number 4 team in the nation – the SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS – journeyed to take on the 7th ranked TRINITY VALLEY COLLEGE CARDINALS. The Badgers seized a 14-0 lead in the opening Quarter and by the break that became a 27-14 advantage. Each team notched 29 more points in the 2nd Half as Snow College won a 56-43 shootout.
KANSAS KLASSIC – The HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES welcomed the FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS yesterday. In this dogfight the Scotties trailed the Greyhounds 7-0, 21-14 and 28-17 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters respectively. The 4th Quarter saw Highland College shut out Fort Scott while putting up 12 points for a 29-28 comeback win.
SHUTOUT WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE – The BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS went head to head with the visiting TEXAS A&T DRILLERS. The Buccaneers wound up totally dominating the Drillers on both sides of the ball. When all of the dust had settled in this thoroughly one-sided affair Blinn College had folded, spindled and mutilated Texas A&T to the tune of SIXTY-EIGHT to NOTHING.
FOURTH QUARTER FRENZY – The oddest game of the day was easily this matchup between the SCOTTSDALE COLLEGE FIGHTING ARTICHOKES and the homestanding GLENDALE (AZ) COLLEGE GAUCHOS. Neither team scored in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd Quarters. In the 4th both offenses went nuts as the Fighting Artichokes defeated the Gauchos FIFTY-TWO to TWENTY-SEVEN!
ROAD WARRIORS – The MESA COLLEGE THUNDERBIRDS found themselves on the road against the PHOENIX COLLEGE BEARS and proceeded to destroy them in a 44-18 laugher ### And the KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS visited the TYLER COLLEGE APACHES, stunning them by a final tally of 42-10.
