BIBLE COLLEGE NIT
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this tournament were the 4 seeds – the MID-ATLANTIC CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS – and the 2nd seeded TRINITY BAPTIST COLLEGE EAGLES. (Insert my usual remark about there being way too many college teams called Eagles.)
The Mustangs were clearly hungry for their first-ever National Championship and had seized a 39-23 advantage by Halftime. After the break Mid-Atlantic Christian University managed a bit more separation from the pursuing Eagles, ultimately winning the game by a final tally of 75-54. The Mustangs’ Grayson Tejada led the victors with 18 points while his teammate Dixon Ogwo notched a Double Double of 14 points and 16 rebounds. * THE MUSTANGS ARE 2018 BIBLE COLLEGE CHAMPIONS *
ASSOCIATION OF CHRISTIAN COLLEGE ATHLETICS
DAY ONE, GAME ONE – The storied OZARK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE AMBASSADORS opened the action with a game against the ASSOCIATION FREE LUTHERAN BIBLE SCHOOL CONQUERORS.
The Ambassadors negotiated their way to a 46-35 lead to end the action-packed opening Half. The Conquerors kept things a little tighter after the break but Ozark Christian College went on to win this shootout 98-85. Bryce Money of the Ambassadors tossed in 25 points to lead OCC.
DAY ONE, GAME TWO – Finishing up Day One action was this game which pitted the PROVIDENCE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE AND THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY PILOTS against the BAPTIST BIBLE COLLEGE PATRIOTS.
The Pilots were all over the Patriots, grabbing a 40-28 lead by the break. From there Providence University College & Theological Seminary outscored Baptist Bible College by a count of 49-39 for an 89-67 triumph. Twenty points from Chris Dick led the Pilots.
NAIA
GULF COAST ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Vying for the title in this Conference were the top seeded DILLARD UNIVERSITY BLEU (sic) DEVILS and the 2 seeds – the XAVIER UNIVERSITY (LA) GOLD RUSH.
The Bleu Devils managed quick separation from the Gold Rush and by Halftime they held a 38-23 lead. The 2nd Half was a real grudge match with each team scoring 48 points. Xavier (LA) never recovered from their early hole in other words, so Dillard University won by a count of 86-71. Kristopher Allmon’s 27 points led the Bleu Devils. * THE BLEU DEVILS ARE GCAC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS *
MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This was more of a Battle of Giant Slayers than a Clash of Cinderellas. The 6 seeds – the LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS – faced the 5th seeded CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS after these two Dark Horses eliminated the Top Two seeds in the Semifinals.
The Tigers were on top of the Blue Raiders 39-32 by the midpoint but Lindsey Wilson College came out for the 2nd Half primed for another upset. The Blue Raiders proceeded to outscore Campbellsville University 52-37 to win the game by a final tally of 84-76. Twenty-two points from Bryan Wallace led the way for the victors. * THE BLUE RAIDERS ARE MSC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS *
