NUMBER SIX GOES DOWN – With the playoffs beginning next weekend this final Saturday of the Regular Season saw the WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN welcome the nation’s 6th ranked GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS. The Statesmen marked Senior Day in style, knocking off the storied Vikings by an authoritative score of 33-14.
EASY AS ONE, TWO, THREE – The top 3 teams in the nation over in D2 prevailed. The (1) INDIANA UNIVERSITY IN PENNSYLVANIA CRIMSON HAWKS logged a 24-7 road smackdown of the WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY GOLDEN RAMS ### Meanwhile the (2) MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS survived a 27-24 visit with the (11) UNIVERSITY OF SIOUX FALLS COUGARS ### And the (3) ASHLAND EAGLES defeated the SAGINAW VALLEY CARDINALS 31-19.
USCAA GAME OF THE WEEK – In the United States Collegiate Athletic Association the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (formerly the Shipbuilders) were on the road against the HUDSON VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS. A 7-7 Halftime tie became a 21-21 deadlock to end Regulation. In Overtime the Builders won it 28-27 off a missed PAT by the Vikings.
HILLSDALE WITH A SHUTOUT – The legendary HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS traveled to face the LAKE ERIE COLLEGE STORM to finish their 2017 campaign. The Chargers dominated the Storm on both sides of the ball, achieving Defensive perfection AND piling on the points. The final score was Hillsdale College FIFTY-FOUR and Lake Erie College ZERO.
NINETY-SEVEN – The number 4 team in the nation – the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT THOMAS TOMMIES – took it on the road against the SAINT OLAF COLLEGE OLES. The Tommies grabbed a 28-0 lead in the 1st Quarter and never looked back from there, hammering the bewildered Oles to the tune of NINETY-SEVEN to NOTHING! Yes, 97-0.

WHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The (4) LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS defeated the (18) CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS by a score of 49-28 ### Meanwhile the (5) SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS won a 24-10 road game at the (22) MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS ### And the (7) BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS beat the (23) EVANGEL UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS 26-6 in their own house.
THRESHERS WITH A WIN – In North Newton, KS the previously winless BETHEL COLLEGE THRESHERS played host to their conference rivals the FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS. The Threshers went on top 10-0 in the 1st Quarter and then made it a 13-0 lead by Halftime. The Defenses ruled the 2nd Half, so 13-0 was also the final tally.
HAPPY SENIOR DAYS – The (14) CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS celebrated Senior Day by utterly annihilating the SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS by a score of 37-0 ### And the UNION COLLEGE BULLDOGS crushed their Senior Day foes the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS in a 56-29 affair.
WORKING OVERTIME – The ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS took it on the road against the MONTANA WESTERN BULLDOGS. Regulation ended in a 42-42 tie, then in the OT session the Battlin’ Bears shut out the Bulldogs and won it with a TD, 48-42. ### And the WALDORF COLLEGE WARRIORS beat the UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES 55-54 in Overtime off a missed PAT.
TWENTY TO SEVENTEEN – This was the final score in a pair of games yesterday: The CENTRAL METHODIST UNIVERSITY EAGLES topped the visiting AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES (formerly the Avalanche) 20-17 ### And the OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS won their own 20-17 affair against the SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES.
SEVENTY YEARS OF TAYLOR FOOTBALL – The TAYLOR UNIVERSITY TROJANS celebrated the end of their 70th season of intercollegiate football in style. They defeated their visiting rivals the MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS by a score of 21-13, a victory that made Head Coach Ron Korfmacher the winningest coach in Taylor University football history.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS welcomed the MISSOURI VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS for a wild shootout which the Pioneers won by a count of 49-45 ### And the WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS slipped past the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS in an 18-14 thriller.
