MECHANICS MAKE IT TWO IN A ROW – In the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) the WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS followed up last week’s tight victory with a blowout win this week. Yesterday the Mechanics battled the GATTACA COLLEGE NEW JERSEYANS and parlayed a 39-0 Halftime lead into a 45-20 triumph.
SIXTY-ONE – The NAIA’s (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) LYON COLLEGE SCOTS were on the road against the TRINITY BIBLE COLLEGE LIONS from the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association). The Scots achieved defensive perfection while piling on the points for a SIXTY-ONE to NOTHING massacre of the Lions.
TRIPLE OVERTIME – The game between the OTTAWA UNIVERSITY BRAVES and their hosts the FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS was the Marathon Game of the Day on Saturday. Regulation ended in a 21-21 tie, sending the game into Overtime. Things were still deadlocked after 1 OT session and again after the 2nd OT. It took Triple Overtime before the Braves at last emerged with a 34-28 victory.
NCCAA GAME OF THE WEEK – The GREENVILLE COLLEGE PANTHERS played host to the UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN (MN) EAGLES. The Panthers trailed the Eagles 7-6 to end the 1st Quarter and 15-12 at Halftime. Greenville College went on top 19-15 in the 3rd Quarter, then added a Safety in the 4th for a 21-15 triumph.
TAYLOR U NEARLY CONQUERED NCAA DIVISION ONE – The NAIA’s TAYLOR UNIVERSITY TROJANS paid a visit to the NCAA Division ONE team the Butler University Bulldogs. The Trojans came tantalizingly close to being another NAIA team to take down a Division One program but fell short in a 27-21 Instant Classic.

NUMBER ELEVEN TAKES A FALL – The only upset in the NAIA Top Twenty-Five yesterday involved the game between the COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES and the visiting 11th ranked EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS. This nail-biter was a true game for the ages, culminating in a 28-20 upset win for the Coyotes.
WHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The number 7 team in the nation – the DOANE COLLEGE TIGERS – took on the 22nd ranked DAKOTA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be the Blue Tigers). Defense was optional in this shootout, which Doane college won 68-67. ### And the traveling (16) BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS trounced the (19) MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS by a count of 55-20.
HAPPY HOMECOMINGS – The MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS celebrated Homecoming by doubling up on the BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY CHARGERS. The Warriors triumphed 56-28. ### And the (2) BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS eviscerated the GRACELAND UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS 66-14.
UNHAPPY HOMECOMING – On the other side of Homecoming festivities and their related football game the number 14 team in the nation – the SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS – visited the UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA-WESTERN BULLDOGS. The Raiders (should be the Sea Gulls) ruined Homecoming for UMW with a 52-28 beatdown.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS took it on the road against the ROBERT MORRIS (IL) UNIVERSITY EAGLES and defeated them in a 31-29 game for the ages. ### And the WALDORF COLLEGE WARRIORS overcame their hosts the PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS (should be the Angels) by a shootout score of 54-47.
WARRIOR FEST – The STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS welcomed the SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS to town for the 2017 edition of Warrior Fest. Sterling College wound up doubling up on the visiting Moundbuilders, knocking them off by a final tally of 28-14.
SALINA DAY – The (25) KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES celebrated this year’s Salina Day with a game against the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES. The Coyotes marked the occasion in style by manhandling their guests the Spires in a 43-10 butt-kicking.

UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS found themselves on the road against the 18th ranked ALBANY (GA) STATE GOLDEN RAMS. The Crusaders pulled off a 35-27 upset. ### And the DELTA STATE STATESMEN dragged down the visiting number 21 team the UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA WOLVES by a score of 17-7.
WHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The (7) UNIVERSITY OF NORTH ALABAMA LIONS visited the (24) VALDOSTA STATE BLAZERS and defeated them in a 30-24 thriller. ### And the (9) MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS likewise pulled off a road win, in their case over the (15) UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA AT DULUTH BULLDOGS 38-23.
WORKING OVERTIME – The AUGUSTANA (SD) VIKINGS welcomed the BEMIDJI STATE BEAVERS yesterday. Four Quarters wasn’t enough for these two teams so it took Overtime before the Vikings emerged with a 30-27 win. ### And the LIMESTONE COLLEGE SAINTS needed an extra session to defeat the visiting TUSCULUM COLLEGE PIONEERS 30-24.
TWO IN A ROW FOR SNU – The SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM took it on the road against the HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON. The Crimson Storm trailed the Bison 7-0 in the 1st Quarter and 14-0 at the Half. In the 3rd Quarter Southern Nazarene pulled to within 21-14 then used late Touchdowns in the 4th for a 28-27 comeback victory.
BLOWOUTS – The ALDERSON-BROADDUS UNIVERSITY BATTLERS welcomed the LINCOLN (PA) UNIVERSITY LIONS and sent them home reeling from a 48-10 obliteration ### Meanwhile the NEWBERRY COLLEGE WOLVES tore apart the VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY IN LYNCHBURG DRAGONS 55-7 ### And the PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS dismembered their hosts the NORTHEASTERN STATE RIVERHAWKS to the tune of 68-21.
WE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE OUT – The game bearing that distinction this week was the clash between the QUINCY UNIVERSITY HAWKS and their guests the LINCOLN (MO) UNIVERSITY BLUE TIGERS. The defenses were at their best and when all was said and done the Hawks had emerged with a 7-3 triumph.

WHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The number 1 team in the nation – the Defending Champion UNIVERSITY OF MARY HARDIN-BAYLOR CRUSADERS – took it on the road against the 8th seeded LINFIELD COLLEGE WILDCATS and smoked them 24-3 ### And the (5) NORTH CENTRAL COLLEGE CARDINALS doubled up on the (20) ILLINOIS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TITANS 26-13.
WORKING OVERTIME – The TUFTS UNIVERSITY JUMBOS played host to the HAMILTON COLLEGE CONTINENTALS yesterday. The opening Quarter ended with the Continentals on top 13-7 but the Jumbos turned the tables with a 21-13 lead at Halftime. Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter and by the end of the 4th Hamilton College forced Overtime with a 28-28 tie. In the extra session the Jumbos emerged with a 35-28 victory.
IF IT ISN’T SCOTTISH IT’S CRAAAP! – The COLLEGE OF WOOSTER SCOTS grabbed a quick 14-0 lead over the OHIO WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY BATTLING BISHOPS and never looked back on their way to a 38-20 win ### And the ALMA COLLEGE SCOTS squeezed out a 45-40 victory over the visiting BENEDICTINE UNIVERSITY EAGLES.
ONE POINT WONDER – The CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS did battle with the HARTWICK COLLEGE HAWKS. The Red Dragons were chasing the Hawks 13-7 in the 1st Quarter and 27-21 at the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended with Cortland State on top 28-27, then the teams exchanged Field Goals in the 4th as the Red Dragons won it 31-30.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The MARITIME COLLEGE PRIVATEERS traveled to face the MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS and won a thrilling 38-31 affair ### And the GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE GUSTIES played the home-standing AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY AUGGIES and defeated them by a final tally of 42-37.
SHUTOUTS – The TRINITY (CT) BANTAMS squared off against the COLBY COLLEGE WHITE MULES and sent them home reeling from a 35-0 loss ### Meanwhile the WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE ENGINEERS crushed the BECKER COLLEGE HAWKS to the tune of 38-0 ### And the COAST GUARD ACADEMY BEARS won a much closer 13-0 shutout over the NICHOLS COLLEGE BISON.
