GAME ONE – The 7th seeded SHAWNEE STATE BEARS took the Diamond against the 2 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS. The Patriots grabbed a quick 1-0 edge in the 1st Inning but the Bears went on top 2-1 in the 2nd.
From there Shawnee State made it a 3-1 game in the 4th Inning and 4-1 in the 5th. The teams each put up 2 Runs in the 7th Inning but no more as the Bears won it 6-3. Derek Moore pitched all 9 Innings for Shawnee State, Iron Man style.
GAME TWO – The following day the University of the Cumberlands and the Bears ended the 1st Inning knotted up at 1-1. Nobody scored again until the Patriots made the count 4-1 in the 4th.
Shawnee State was chasing UC the rest of the way but never scored again as the Pats coasted to an 8-1 victory. Manny Castellano was the winning Pitcher.
GAME THREE – After a scoreless 1st Inning the Patriots went on top of the Bears by a count of 3-0 in the 2nd. Shawnee State made the score 3-1 in the top of the 3rd Inning but the University of the Cumberlands stretched their lead out to 4-1 in their half of that Inning.
The Patriots shut out the Bears the rest of the way while adding runs of their own in the 4th and 5th Innings enroute to a 7-1 triumph. Shawnee State was eliminated as Zach Hurley picked up the W for his team.
