AMERICAN MIDWEST CONFERENCE

Harris Stowe State HornetsCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This Conference’s tourney became a War of Underdogs. The 6th seeded HARRIS-STOWE STATE HORNETS battled the 5 seeds – the WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS – for the crown. There was one more upset in store for this league.

The clashing Cinderellas danced themselves to a 28-28 tie to end the 1st Half. After the break the Hornets took control of the game, clobbering the Owls by a final count of 80-56. Craig Davila, Jr and Jalen Fletcher led Harris-Stowe State with 16 points each. * THE HORNETS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE AMC TOURNAMENT *

HEART OF AMERICA ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

williampennstatesmenCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This game pitted the top seeds – the WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN – against the 3rd seeded MOUNT MERCY UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS.

Points flew like shrapnel in this apparent “defense is optional” clash. By Halftime the Statesmen held a 58-56 edge over the Mustangs. In the 2nd Half both teams reached the Century mark but William Penn University managed more and more separation for a 112-100 triumph. The Statesmen were led by Torren Jones, who notched a Double Double of 26 points and 12 rebounds. * THE STATESMEN ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE HAAC TOURNAMENT *

Master's College Mustangs logoCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – It took DOUBLE OVERTIME for a victor to be determined in this hardcourt marathon as the 3rd seeded MASTER’S UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS took on the top seeds – the HOPE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY ROYALS.

The opening Half was a defensive epic which ended with the Royals on top of the Mustangs 29-26. After the break the offenses got a little loosened up and The Master’s University forced OT through a 60-60 tie. The 1st Overtime session ended deadlocked at 68-68 but in the 2nd Overtime the Mustangs at last emerged with a 79-74 win. Reid Shackelford’s 24 points led The Master’s University. * THE MUSTANGS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE GSAC TOURNAMENT *
