GULF COAST ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The two teams battling it out for the GCAC crown were the top seeded DILLARD UNIVERSITY BLEU (sic) DEVILS and the 2 seeds – the PHILANDER SMITH COLLEGE PANTHERS.
The Bleu Devils made a statement early with a 13-2 run to start the game and by Halftime they had parlayed that into a 43-31 advantage. After the break the Panthers fell further and further behind Dillard University as the latter went on to an 86-65 victory. Demetric Austin’s Double Double of 17 points and 13 rebounds led Dillard. * THE BLEU DEVILS ARE GCAC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS *
MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeds of the Mid-South Conference – the LIFE UNIVERSITY RUNNING EAGLES – found themselves up against the 3rd seeded UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS in this game.
Some predicted that the Running Eagles would be worn out from their Overtime grudge match with Lindsey Wilson College in the Semifinals but they proved those naysayers wrong. Life University (Not affiliated with the School of Hard Knocks) led the Bears 41-30 by the break and got a little more separation in the 2nd Half for a 78-63 final score. Dalarian Williams tossed in 21 points to lead the victors. * THE RUNNING EAGLES ARE MSC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS *
