NJCAA FOOTBALL RESULTS

Readers of Balladeer’s Blog have indicated that they are preferring this new setup in which I cover just the 4 year colleges on Sundays and then do these 2 year colleges during the week.

Copiah Lincoln WolfpackNUMBER SIX TAKES A FALL – The COPIAH-LINCOLN COLLEGE WOLFPACK played host to the 6th ranked JONES COUNTY COLLEGE BOBCATS and improved to 2-2 with the win. The Wolfpack trailed the Bobcats 7-0 in the 1st Quarter but had managed a 10-9 edge by Halftime. Jones County went back up 15-13 by the end of the 3rd Quarter but Copiah-Lincoln came back in the 4th to win it 27-22.

Georgia Military College BulldogsAND NUMBER SEVEN COMES TUMBLING AFTER – Meanwhile the GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE BULLDOGS visited the number 7 team in the nation – the COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS. By the end of the opening Quarter the Bulldogs led the Chaparrals 10-7, a score which was unchanged at the break. An action-packed 2nd Half saw Georgia Military College complete the upset by a final count of 24-12.

Dodge City Conquistadors helmetOTHER UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY – The (18) DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS took it on the road against the (12) BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES and defeated them in a 7-3 defensive epic   ###   Meanwhile the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES toppled the (13) HUTCHINSON BLUE DRAGONS 26-21   ###   The BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS beat the KILGORE RANGERS 52-41   ###   And the COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS got a 41-20 road rout of the (20) IOWA WESTERN REIVERS.    

Independence Pirates helmetINDEPENDENCE DAY – The INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES were big underdogs against the visiting IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS but delivered a big surprise! The 1st Quarter ended with the Pirates leading the Tritons 13-0 and though Iowa Central College would go on top 17-13 by the 3rd Quarter Independence College fought back. In the end the Pirates emerged with a 27-24 victory.

Vermilion College Ironmen helmetCOMEBACK OF THE WEEK – The homestanding VERMILION COLLEGE IRONMEN clashed with the MESABI RANGE COLLEGE NORSE in a thriller. The Ironmen trailed the Norse 7-0 in the 1st Quarter and 21-3 to end the 3rd. The 4th Quarter saw Vermilion College explode for 21 points to the 3 added by Mesabi Range College for a 24-24 tie! In Overtime the Ironmen won it 31-24.

ASA CollegeAVENGERS ASSEMBLE! – We just covered the Ironmen, now how about the Avengers? The ASA COLLEGE AVENGERS evened their 2016 record at 2-2 on Saturday as they took on the visiting HUDSON VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS. Though ASA College led just 3-0 at Halftime the Avengers got rolling after the break, trashing the Vikings to the tune of 37-11.  

Tyler Apaches helmetHANGING EIGHTY-THREE – The top-ranked TYLER COLLEGE APACHES took it on the road against the CISCO COLLEGE WRANGLERS, whom they mistook for a speed-bump, apparently. When the dust had finally settled in this monumental butt-kicking the Apaches had won it by a score of EIGHTY-THREE to THIRTY-FIVE.

Northeastern_Oklahoma_AMUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN welcomed the NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS to town for a real shootout. The Golden Norsemen led the Bulldogs 31-24 in the 1st Quarter and the points kept flying from there, ultimately leading to a 51-46 triumph for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. 

Eastern Arizona CollegeSHUTOUTS – Saturday’s examples of defensive perfection included: the EASTERN ARIZONA COLLEGE GILA MONSTERS, who annihilated the PHOENIX DESERT EAGLES in a 50-0 laugher   ###    And the CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE AT BRAINERD RAIDERS, who sent their opponents the FOND DU LAC TRIBAL COLLEGE THUNDER home reeling from a 51-zip smackdown.
