PRIVATEERS OVER THE MARINERS – The game of the night on Friday was the clash between the MARITIME COLLEGE PRIVATEERS and the visiting MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS. The Privateers trailed the Mariners 7-0 after 1 Quarter of play but pulled to within 7-6 by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with the score knotted up at 13-13 with Maritime College pulling out a 20-16 victory in the 4th. QB Thomas Wright threw for 2 TD’s for the Privateers.
SHUTOUTS – The ROWAN UNIVERSITY PROFS did battle with their guests the WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY PIONEERS and converted a 7-0 edge at the break into a 31-0 masterpiece of defensive play. ### And the traveling FRAMINGHAM STATE RAMS took on the FITCHBURG STATE FALCONS, shutting them out in a much closer 14-0 affair.
KEAN WAS PEACHY KEEN – The KEAN UNIVERSITY COUGARS welcomed THE COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY LIONS to Alumni Stadium last night. The Cougars took a 7-0 1st Quarter lead which was unchanged at the Half. In the 3rd Quarter the Lions got on the board, making Kean University’s edge just 10-7 but the Cougars pulled away in the 4th for a 16-7 victory.
NCAA OVER USCAA – This game pitted the NCAA’s HUSSON UNIVERSITY EAGLES against their guests from the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) – the DEAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS. The Eagles seized a quick 14-0 lead in the 1st Quarter and the rout was underway, ultimately ending in a 43-23 beatdown of the Bulldogs. RB John Smith rushed for 280 yds and 4 TD’s for Husson.
TAKING PRIDE IN A ROAD WIN – The WIDENER UNIVERSITY PRIDE found themselves on the road against the FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON UNIVERSITY AT FLORHAM DEVILS. The Pride proceeded to make the Devils their prison brides on both sides of the ball in impressive style. The final tally in this laugher wound up being Widener University 40 FDU-Dickinson 7.
HOME STANDS – The (24) ASSUMPTION COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS mauled the SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE OWLS and sent them back home reeling from a 35-13 smackdown. ### And the BENTLEY UNIVERSITY FALCONS nearly doubled up on the visiting MERRIMACK COLLEGE WARRIORS by a score of 41-22.
AND EVEN MORE HOME STANDS OUT WEST – The DIABLO VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS hosted the COLLEGE OF THE SEQUOIAS GIANTS (should be the Redwoods) and defeated them 44-28. ### And the LANEY COLLEGE EAGLES took the field against the FEATHER RIVER COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLES and proceeded to pluck them to the tune of 37-10.
