NAIA2 NATIONAL TOURNAMENT AND MORE POSTSEASON COLLEGE BASKETBALL

calmaritimekeelhaulersDAY ONE – GAME ONE – The 7 seeds – the CALIFORNIA MARITIME ACADEMY KEELHAULERS – took the court against the 2nd seeded UNION (KY) BULLDOGS. The Keelhaulers were trailing the Bulldogs 39-37 at Halftime but after the break they took control of the game, outscoring Union 44-31 for an 81-70 upset. Zach Davis tossed in 24 points to lead Cal Maritime.  

Keiser SeahawksDAY ONE – GAME TWO – The 3rd seeded KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS did battle with the 6th seeded OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS in this game. By the break the Seahawks were on top 37-27 and then went on to win by a final tally of 77-66. Andrija Serenac of Keiser University led his team in scoring with his contribution of 20 points. 

PrintDAY ONE – GAME THREE – This game was a catfight between another 3 seed and a 6 seed. The (3) WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS fought it out with the (6) COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS BOBCATS. The Royals dominated the Bobcats from start to finish, leading 45-35 at Halftime and 93-79 at the final buzzer. Warner University was led by Warren Hall with 31 points.  

Mount Mercy University MustangsDAY ONE – GAME FOUR – The 4th seeded MOUNT MERCY UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS found themselves taking on the 5th seeded SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS. It looked like an upset was in the making as the Mustangs trailed the Raiders 58-47 at the midpoint. Mount Mercy U came out of the locker room on fire and tied up the game at 90-90 to force Overtime. In the extra session the Mustangs eked out a 98-97 victory.

cornerstoneDAY ONE – GAME FIVE -A case of Eagle on Eagle violence came next as the 2nd seeded CORNERSTONE UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES – the defending National Champions – played the 7 seeds – the CINCINNATI CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES. Cincinnati Christian University put fear into the Cornerstone fans by leading at Halftime 34-32, but the Golden Eagles came roaring back after the break for an 87-69 triumph. Thirty points from Kyle Steigenga led the way for Cornerstone U. 

Warner Pacific College KnightsDAY ONE – GAME SIX – The 4th seeded WARNER PACIFIC COLLEGE KNIGHTS and the 5 seeds – the NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES – both entered the Century Club in their battle. The Knights held a comfortable 57-43 lead at the break but then had to hold on against a furious Prairie Wolves rally. The final score was Warner Pacific 106  Nebraska Wesleyan 101. Taylor Young put up 30 points to lead the Knights. 

Davenport PanthersDAY ONE – GAMES SEVEN AND EIGHT – The outcome was a foregone conclusion in these two games that pitted 1 seeds against 8 seeds. The (1) DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY PANTHERS eliminated the (8) SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS by a score of 77-62.    ###    And the (1) UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS bounced the (8) DAKOTA STATE TROJANS to the tune of 96-81.
