COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM NOVEMBER 7th

* HEADLINES *

Southeastern Fire helmet REALSOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY RULES THE WORLD – Plenty of times every college football season various NAIA teams upset teams in NCAA Division Two or even Division ONE. Yesterday the NAIA’s SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE were guests of NCAA D2’s BENEDICT COLLEGE TIGERS. The Fire managed a 35-20 upset of the higher division team.

Montana Tech OrediggersNUMBER ONE TAKES A FALL – Staying in the NAIA for the moment the 9th ranked MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS traveled to face the number 1 team in the nation – the Defending Champion SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS. The Orediggers won a 21-17 game for the ages that their fans will talk about for years to come.

Florida Tech Panthers helmetAND ANOTHER NUMBER ONE GOES DOWN – In NCAA Division Two the FLORIDA TECH PANTHERS played host to the top ranked team in the country – the UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA WOLVES. The Panthers and Wolves battled tooth and nail for 4 bone-crushing Quarters before Florida Tech emerged with a 28-26 triumph.

Orange Coast College helmetA THIRD NUMBER ONE GETS DETHRONED – In the CCCAA it was also a tough day to be ranked number 1. The number 16 ORANGE COAST COLLEGE PIRATES visited the top ranked GOLDEN WEST COLLEGE RUSTLERS. The Pirates had the Rustlers faithful worried with a 10-0 Halftime advantage, then followed through on the upset threat by beating Golden West College in a 17-14 thriller. 

Salisbury Seagulls helmetNUMBER FOUR GETS TOPPLED – In NCAA Division Three the SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS took it on the road against the number 4 WESLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie became a 21-21 Halftime tie and even a 35-35 tie to end the 3rd Quarter. The Sea Gulls shut out the Wolverines from there for a 38-35 upset win.

Ellsworth College Panthers helmet NEWAND ANOTHER NUMBER FOUR CAME TUMBLING AFTER – In the NJCAA the ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS welcomed the 4th ranked BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES. A 14-14 1st Quarter tie turned into a 22-21 edge for the Panthers at the break. In the 2nd Half Ellsworth College went on to defeat the Grizzlies by a final score of 36-28.  

* UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE *

Campbellsville UniversityNAIA – The (17) CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS marked Senior Day with a 70-56 upset of the (7) REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES     ###      The (23) ROBERT MORRIS (IL) EAGLES doubled up on the visiting (11) ST XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS 28-14     ###      The GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS ruined Senior Day for the (20) UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS by a score of 30-13     ###      And the NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES won a 44-38 Instant Classic against the visiting (22) NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS.  

Miles College Golden Bears helmetNCAA DIVISION TWO – The MILES COLLEGE GOLDEN BEARS traveled to face the (13) TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY GOLDEN TIGERS and toppled them in a 26-23 game for the ages     ###      And the WESTERN STATE MOUNTAINEERS likewise notched a road victory over a ranked team, in their case the (24) COLORADO MINES OREDIGGERS whom they defeated by a tight final tally of 45-42.

East Texas Baptist Tigers helmetNCAA DIVISION THREE – The EAST TEXAS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY TIGERS hosted the (8) HARDIN- SIMMONS UNIVERSITY COWBOYS and upset them 27-21     ###      The LYCOMING COLLEGE WARRIORS eked out a 43-42 win over the visiting (19) DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE AGGIES     ###      Meanwhile the GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE GUSTIES downed their guests the (23) CONCORDIA (Moorhead) COBBERS 41-34     ###      And the HOBART COLLEGE STATESMEN held serve 19-17 over the (25) ST LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY SAINTS.

Erie KatsNJCAA – The ERIE COLLEGE KATS were less than gracious hosts to the (13) GLOBE TECH KNIGHTS yesterday, thoroughly trouncing them by a final score of 30-6     ###      And the KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS traveled to do battle with the (19) NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS and defeated them 42-28.  

Butte CollegeCCCAA – The (15) BUTTE COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS hosted the (6) AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS and beat them in a 27-24 Instant Classic     ###      The MOORPARK COLLEGE RAIDERS notched a 17-10 road win over the (11) COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS COUGARS     ###      And the FRESNO COLLEGE RAMS defeated the homestanding (12) MODESTO COLLEGE PIRATES in a 55-42 shootout.

Arizona Christian Univ helmet GOODROAD WARRIORS – The ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM traveled to face the BACONE COLLEGE WARRIORS and handed them a 27-12 beatdown     ###      And the LANGSTON UNIVERSITY LIONS doubled up on their hosts the WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (should be the Flying W’s) by a final score of 48-24.  

Avila Eagles helmetUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES (formerly the Avalanche) won a 34-27 thriller against the visiting EVANGEL UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS     ###      And the (18) DAKOTA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS welcomed the CONCORDIA (NE) BULLDOGS and wound up winning a very memorable 17-10 gridiron grudge match. 

Rocky Mountain CollegeHAPPY SENIOR DAYS – The ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS celebrated Senior Day with a 21-13 triumph over the reeling CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS     ###      Meanwhile the UNION (KY) BULLDOGS defeated the BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS by a count of 35-18     ###      And the MONTANA WESTERN BULLDOGS annihilated the MONTANA STATE- NORTHERN LIGHTS in a 52-6 laugher.  

Sterling helmetSOURED SENIOR DAYS – The STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS rained on Senior Day for their hosts the MCPHERSON COLLEGE BULLDOGS (should be the Mastiffs), defeating them by a score of 35-7     ###      The (15) LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS won a 30-22 affair at the BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS     ###      And the (19) WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN roughed up the GRACELAND UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS 31-17.  

Texas College SteersHOW ‘BOUT THEM STEERS? – The TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS took the field yesterday against their guests the LYON COLLEGE SCOTS. This was one of the hardest- fought games of the day and when everything was said and done the Steers had successfully defended their home turf by a final score of 21-14. 

Southwestern CollegeBUTTKICKINGS – The SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS made the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES feel less than welcome as they spanked them 31-7     ###      Meanwhile the (10) TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS eviscerated the BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES 57-14     ###      And the HASTINGS COLLEGE BRONCOS clobbered the DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS 62-31.

Webber International helmetNAIA OVER USCAA – The WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS from the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) welcomed the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS from the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association). The Warriors won the ensuing game in authoritative fashion, overcoming the Builders by a score of 42-3. 

* NCAA DIVISION TWO * 

Northwest Missouri BearcatsWHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The (3) NORTHWEST MISSOURI BEARCATS trounced their guests the (16) EMPORIA STATE HORNETS to the tune of 44-10     ###      Meanwhile the (4) COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDER WOLVES decimated the visiting (22) COLORADO MESA UNIVERSITY MAVERICKS 51-20     ###      And the (5) ASHLAND UNIVERSITY EAGLES won a 40-14 smackdown of the (20) MICHIGAN TECH HUSKIES.

Upper Iowa Peacocks helmet NEWWORKING OVERTIME – The UPPER IOWA UNIVERSITY PEACOCKS and their hosts the WAYNE STATE (NE) WILDCATS wound up tied at the end of Regulation. In the extra session the Peacocks won out 34-31     ###      And the (19) VALDOSTA STATE BLAZERS broke a 34-34 tie with the homestanding DELTA STATE STATESMEN, defeating them 40-34 in Overtime.

Missouri WesternALL-NAME GAMES – The MISSOURI WESTERN GRIFFONS took it on the road against the UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT KEARNEY LOPERS and doubled up on them 34-17     ###      Meanwhile the WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS likewise logged a road win – in their case over the NORTHEASTERN STATE RIVERHAWKS 35-21     ###      And the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM blanked their hosts the UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS 37-0. 

Virginia Union PanthersONE POINT WONDERS – The VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY PANTHERS came out on top over the homestanding VIRGINIA STATE TROJANS by a final score of 28-27     ###      And the AUGUSTANA (SD) VIKINGS eked out a 35-34 on the road against the WINONA STATE WARRIORS. 

MillersvilleKICKING BUTT IN THE KEYSTONE STATE – The MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY MARAUDERS squared off against the visiting CHEYNEY UNIVERSITY WOLVES on Saturday. The Marauders were playing their best football of the season and put on a very impressive display for their home crowd. Millersville University defeated the Wolves by a final tally of 26-6. 

Kentucky_St_OLD1HOMESTANDS – The KENTUCKY STATE THOROBREDS hosted the STILLMAN COLLEGE TIGERS and sent them back home reeling from a 34-7 drubbing     ###      And the HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON defeated the visiting NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE RANGERS by a final sore of 42-30. 

Truman State helmetWE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE OUT – The game between the TRUMAN STATE BULLDOGS and the visiting SAINT JOSEPH’S COLLEGE PUMAS won this designation for this week. The Bulldogs and the Pumas engaged in a defensive epic which Truman State wound up winning by a final score of 10-3.  

* NCCAA *

Point University good helmetMAKING YOUR POINT – Yesterday the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS took the field against the visiting AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES. The game was pretty much all Skyhawks as Point University proceeded to kick the Gyrenes’ keesters all over the field. The final tally in this completely one-sided affair was Skyhawks 49  Gyrenes 14.

Pikeville BearsNAIA OVER NCCAA – The UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS from the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) found themselves on the road against the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS from the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association). The Bears dominated the Knights on both sides of the ball for a 40-11 blowout win on Senior Day at KCU.

Edward Waters Tigers helmetSHOWDOWN IN THE SUN CONFERENCE – The EDWARD WATERS COLLEGE TIGERS took it on the road against their conference rivals the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS. This gridiron clash turned out to be a genuine game for the ages as both teams traded blow for blow over the course of 4 hard-fought Quarters. In the end the Tigers went back home boasting an 18-13 victory. 

Chowan HawksNCCAA ON TOP – The NCCAA’s CHOWAN UNIVERSITY HAWKS obliterated the homestanding LINCOLN (PA) LIONS yesterday in a FORTY-NINE to THREE laugher     ###      And the NCCAA’s UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN (MN) EAGLES outperformed the visiting EUREKA COLLEGE RED DEVILS by a final tally of 31-20. 

Alfred StateUSCAA OVER NCCAA – The ALFRED STATE PIONEERS from the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) hosted the MARANATHA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SABERCATS from the NCCAA. The Pioneers trailed the Sabercats 3-0 at the end of the 1st Quarter but took control of the game from there to defeat Maranatha Baptist 34-18. 

* NCAA DIVISION THREE * 

Wheaton ThunderWHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The (7) WHEATON COLLEGE THUNDER visited the (22) ILLINOIS WESLEYAN TITANS and clubbed them 40-27     ###      And the (12) THOMAS MORE COLLEGE SAINTS were on the road against the (18) CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY SPARTANS and won a much tighter 36-32 affair.

Anna Maria AmcatsAMCATS ON THE ROAD – The ANNA MARIA COLLEGE AMCATS traveled to Hotchkiss Field to face the GALLAUDET UNIVERSITY BISON. The Amcats trailed the Bison 14-3 at Halftime but went on to outscore Gallaudet University 21-6 after the break. The final score was Amcats 24  Bison 20. Anna Maria College QB Daniel Faison had 150 yds passing and rushing with 1 TD.

Elmhurst Blue JaysONE POINT WONDERS – The ELMHURST COLLEGE BLUE JAYS welcomed the MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY BIG BLUE and tangled them up in- well, blue – in a 15-14 edge-of- your- seat classic     ###      And the MUHLENBERG COLLEGE MULES eked out a 10-9 road triumph over the URSINUS COLLEGE BEARS.

Endicott Gulls helmetHOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN GOING ON? – This week’s winner of the designation Marathon Game of the Week was the clash between the ENDICOTT COLLEGE GULLS and the visiting CURRY COLLEGE COLONELS. Regulation ended in a 14-14 tie. The 1st Overtime ended in a 21-21 tie, then the defenses took over. Neither team scored in the 2nd or 3rd OT periods, then in the FOURTH OVERTIME the Gulls shut out the Colonels and managed a Touchdown for a 27-21 win. 

Louisiana College WildcatsNCAA OVER THE NCCAA – The LOUISIANA COLLEGE WILDCATS from the NCAA Division Three hosted the MCMURRY UNIVERSITY WARHAWKS from the NCCAA. The Wildcats pretty much had their way with the Warhawks in this game. When Louisiana College had gotten done pushing McMurry around the football field they had won by a score of 28-15. 

Buffalo State BengalsWE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE OUT – In Division Three the game that fit this category was the gridiron battle between the BUFFALO STATE BENGALS and the visiting ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS. The Bengals trailed the Bombers 3-0 at the break but went on to win this defensive epic by a score of 7-3.

Mount Saint Joseph Lions helmetWORKING OVERTIME – The MOUNT SAINT JOSEPH UNIVERSITY LIONS were tied 20-20 with their hosts the ROSE- HULMAN TECH ENGINEERS at the end of Regulation. A missed PAT gave the Lions a 27-26 win.     ###      Meanwhile the AVERETT UNIVERSITY COUGARS notched a Field Goal to win an OT road game 31-28 at the FERRUM COLLEGE PANTHERS     ###      And the KEAN UNIVERSITY COUGARS defeated the visiting ROWAN UNIVERSITY PROFS by a TD to the FG scored by the Profs. 20-17 was the final score. 

* NJCAA *

Hutchinson Blue DragonsGOING OUT ON A HIGH NOTE – After a very disappointing season for the storied HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS they got to at least end the 2015 campaign on a high note. The Blue Dragons were on the road at the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES and parlayed a 21-0 1st Quarter lead into a 47-0 blowout win.

Arizona Western College good helmetWORKING OVERTIME – The ARIZONA WESTERN COLLEGE MATADORS welcomed the NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (should be the Cavalry) yesterday. The Matadors fell behind 21-3 in the 1st Quarter but refused to panic. By Halftime it was a 21-13 game and was 29-21 in favor of Arizona Western College to end the 3rd Quarter. Regulation ended in a 36-36 tie with the Matadors going on to win it 43-36 in Overtime.  

Dodge City Conquistadors helmetA TALE OF TWO HALVES – The DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS took the field against the visiting HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES. The 1st Half was very competitive and ended in a 15-13 edge for the Conquistadors. After the break Dodge City took over the game and went on to win the game by a final tally of 51-26.

Coffeyville Red Ravens helmetROAD WARRIORS – The COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS took it on the road against the GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS (not BroncObusters) and by Halftime the Red Ravens led the Broncbusters 29-21. Coffeyville College made it a 36-21 game to end the 3rd and ultimately a 42-33 triumph.  

Iowa Western CollegeHOMESTANDS – The IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS battled the visiting IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS and pretty thoroughly manhandled them to the tune of 31-3     ###      And the SCOTTSDALE COLLEGE FIGHTING ARTICHOKES completely dominated their guests the MESA COLLEGE THUNDERBIRDS by a score of 39-15. 

Eastern Arizona CollegeUTTER ANNIHILATION – The EASTERN ARIZONA COLLEGE GILA MONSTERS (love that name) folded, spindled and mutilated their guests the GLENDALE (AZ) GAUCHOS. The Gila Monsters gave up only a garbage time Touchdown to the Gauchos in the 4th Quarter. Eastern Arizona College led 35-0 at the Half enroute to a SIXTY-TWO to SEVEN win in this laugher.

DuPage ChaparralsSHUTOUTS – The redoubtable COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS shut out their hosts the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS in a 48-0 affair     ###      And the ASA COLLEGE (FL) SILVER STORM wound up utterly mangling the visiting GATTACA VIKINGS by a final score of 58-0.
