COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM OCTOBER 17th

Edward Waters Tigers helmetEDWARD WATERS RULES THE WORLD – Another NAIA team has risen up to defeat an NCAA Division ONE team. The EDWARD WATERS COLLEGE TIGERS took part in the Jacksonville Football Classic against the Division One JACKSONVILLE UNIVERSITY DOLPHINS. The Tigers showed how football is played in the NAIA by routing the Dolphins 49-28. 

Lindsey_Wilson_KYNUMBER ONES STAY SAFE – The NAIA’s top ranked LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS survived a 24-19 visit from the (18) FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES     ###      In D2 the (1) MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS notched a 51-10 road crushing of the unranked CONCORDIA (St Paul) GOLDEN EAGLES     ###      And D3’s (1) MT UNION PURPLE RAIDERS annihilated the unranked HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY STUDENT PRINCES 59-17.  

Butler (KS) GrizzliesNUMBER ONE TOPPLED – In the NJCAA the 3rd ranked BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES traveled to face the number 1 team in the land – the COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS. The Grizzlies led 21-19 at Halftime and after an equally tight 2nd Half won the game by a count of 42-39. Butler QB Justice Hansen had 3 TD’s on 294 yds passing.

Williamson Trade HelmetNIGHTMARE ENDS FOR THE MECHANICS – In the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) the number 1 WILLIAMSON TRADE SCHOOL MECHANICS won their first Homecoming game since 2008. The Mechanics trailed the DC METRO WOLVES 14-6 early but came back to win the game 20-14. Head Coach Dan Drake comes through again!

NNAS_VABUILDING A BLOWOUT – Staying in the USCAA for a moment the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS had their best game of the year on the road against the ALFRED STATE PIONEERS. A 20-7 lead for the Builders at the break ultimately became a 44-13 dismembering of the Pioneers. All 6 Newport News Touchdowns came on the ground. 

Dubuque Spartans helmetDOWN GOES NUMBER EIGHT – In NCAA Division Three the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE SPARTANS took the field against the visiting number 8 WARTBURG COLLEGE KNIGHTS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie became a 14-7 Spartan lead at the break. From there Dubuque flexed their muscles and dragged down the Knights by a final score of 45-13!

Grand Valley StateNUMBER NINE TAKES A FALL – There was an upset in the Top Ten in NCAA Division Two as well yesterday. The 19th ranked GRAND VALLEY STATE LAKERS hosted the number 9 team in the nation – the MICHIGAN TECH HUSKIES. The Lakers reminded the country of their days as a dynasty with an authoritative 38-21 upset of the Huskies.  

* UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE *

Point University good helmetNAIA – The POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS took it on the road against the (23) WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS. The Skyhawks prevailed in a 24-21 Instant Classic.     ###      And the DAKOTA STATE TROJANS handed a 54-21 beatdown to the resurgent (24) DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS.

Wingate Bulldogs helmetNCAA DIVISION TWO – The WINGATE UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS notched a 24-14 road win over the (14) LENOIR-RHYNE BEARS     ###      The (18) MIDWESTERN STATE MUSTANGS manhandled the (15) HUMBOLDT STATE LUMBERJACKS 35-10     ###      Meanwhile the FT HAYS STATE TIGERS held serve 27-24 against the (16) EMPORIA STATE HORNETS     ###      And the EAST CENTRAL TIGERS edged the (23) ARKANSAS TECH WONDERBOYS 20-19.  

Brockport State helmetNCAA DIVISION THREE – As it turned out yesterday in addition to Dubuque over Wartburg the only other Top Twenty-Five upset came in the game between the BROCKPORT STATE GOLDEN EAGLES and the (24) ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS. The Golden Eagles defeated the Bombers 27-17 in their own house.

Santa Rosa Bear CubsCCCAA – The SANTA ROSA COLLEGE BEAR CUBS toppled the visiting (5) COLLEGE OF SAN MATEO BULLDOGS in a 17-14 game for the ages     ###      And meanwhile the SAN BERNARDINO VALLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES eked out a 28-27 win over their guests the (15) VICTOR VALLEY COLLEGE RAMS.

Southern Oregon RaidersWHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The (2) SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS – the defending national champs – welcomed the (11) CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS and edged them in a 28-27 Overtime epic   ###      And the (12) TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS celebrated Homecoming with a 14-7 defensive battle with the (15) KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES.  

Langston LionsLION ON LION VIOLENCE – The LANGSTON UNIVERSITY LIONS played host to the SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS on Saturday. This was a true game for the ages but in the end Langston University wound up edging the boys from SAGU by a tight final score of 23-20.

Southwestern CollegeSHUTOUTS – The SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS took the field against the visiting BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES and managed defensive perfection against them in a 24-0 affair     ###      And the MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS shut out their guests the MONTANA STATE- NORTHERN LIGHTS 40-zip.  

Arizona Christian Univ helmet GOODTHOSE SEVENTIES SCORES – The ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM made the visiting LYON COLLEGE SCOTS their prison brides yesterday, mangling them beyond recognition in a 70-18 laugher     ###      And the (3) MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS obliterated the homestanding (17) DAKOTA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS 76-20.

Texas College SteersONE POINT WONDER – The TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS at last logged their first victory for the 2015 season. The Steers welcomed the BACONE COLLEGE WARRIORS for what turned out to be one of the most thrilling games of the day. In the end Texas College won out by a final tally of 21-20.  

Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie WolvesALL- NAME GAMES – The NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES defeated the visiting DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS by a score of 27-14     ###      And the COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES manhandled their guests the ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS 38-17. 

Concordia (NE) BulldogsWORKING OVERTIME – The CONCORDIA (NE) BULLDOGS invaded the lair of the MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS on Homecoming weekend. Four Quarters of hard-hitting football just weren’t enough for these two teams. In Overtime the Bulldogs at last emerged with a 41-38 victory.

Jamestown College JimmiesRUINED HOMECOMINGS – And speaking of ruined Homecoming celebrations the UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES crashed the party for the MAYVILLE STATE COMETS 17-7     ###      And the UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS tore apart the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS to the tune of 56-17.

 * NCAA DIVISION TWO *

West Georgia Wolves BLUEWHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The (2) UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA WOLVES visited the (8) DELTA STATE STATESMEN and trounced them 28-7     ###      And the (5) NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE BEARCATS more than doubled up on their hosts the (20) PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS by a score of 31-14.  

New Haven Chargers helmetDOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN CHARGERS welcomed the STONEHILL COLLEGE SKYHAWKS and roughed them up 28-14     ###      And the COLORADO MESA UNIVERSITY MAVERICKS rang up a 52-26 beatdown of the WESTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS.

Harding Bisons helmetHOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN GOING ON? – The winner of the designation Marathon Game of the Week for this time around goes to the gridiron clash between the HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON and their hosts the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA UNIVERSITY SAVAGE STORM. Regulation wasn’t enough. One Overtime wasn’t enough. Two Overtimes weren’t enough. Finally in TRIPLE OVERTIME the Bison eked out a 63-60 triumph.

IUP Crimson HawksUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The INDIANA UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA CRIMSON HAWKS entertained the CALIFORNIA (PA) UNIVERSITY VULCANS and managed a 20-15 victory     ###      And the ANGELO STATE RAMS edged the visiting TEXAS A&M AT KINGSVILLE JAVELINAS by a score of 39-34.

Eastern New Mexico UGO GREYHOUNDS AND LEAVE THE FOOTBALL TO THEM – The EASTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY GREYHOUNDS invaded the home turf of the TARLETON STATE TEXANS and beat them 49-44     ###      And the UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS survived a 26-20 visit from the QUINCY UNIVERSITY HAWKS.

Maranatha Baptist Sabercats helmetSABERCATS OFF THE SCHNEID – The MARANATHA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SABERCATS got off the schneid for 2015 on the road against the TRINITY BIBLE COLLEGE LIONS. The Sabercats expanded a 21-20 1st Quarter edge into a 35-26 Halftime lead. In the 4th Quarter Maranatha had to hold on against a furious comeback attempt by the Lions to win the game 52-46.

Southeastern Fire helmet REALORDER SIXTY-SIX – The SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE greeted the AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES for an October free-for- all. The Fire overcame the Gyrenes’ three year head start at playing intercollegiate football and dominated on both sides of the ball. The final score was Southeastern University 66 Ave Maria University 0.  

Oklahoma Baptist University helmetUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON won a 41-38 edge of your seat road game against the NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE RANGERS     ###      And the COLLEGE OF SAINT SCHOLASTICA SAINTS toppled the mighty UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN (MN) EAGLES 13-7 in their own house.

mcmurry warhawks helmetTHERE ARE TOO MORAL VICTORIES – The MCMURRY UNIVERSITY WARHAWKS were engaged in battle with the higher division team the OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE STATE AGGIES. The Warhawks fought them toe-to- toe and even dragged the Aggies into Overtime. In that extra session valiant McMurry fell 36-35.

Belhaven Blazers helmet NEWHAL MUMME’S REVENGE – The BELHAVEN UNIVERSITY BLAZERS under Head Coach Hal Mumme hosted their fellow NCCAA team the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS. After 4 bruising quarters of intense competition the Blazers sent the Royals home coping with a 42-33 loss.  

* NCAA DIVISION THREE *

Illinois College Blue Boys helmetEIGHTY-THREE – The ILLINOIS COLLEGE BLUE BOYS thought they were playing basketball against the visiting GRINNELL COLLEGE PIONEERS. The Blue Boys had England Stadium rocking as they converted a 41-3 Halftime advantage into an EIGHTY-THREE to TEN beatdown of the Pioneers. 

* NJCAA *

ASA CollegeAVENGERS ON THE ROAD – The ASA COLLEGE (NY) AVENGERS traveled to do battle with the ERIE COLLEGE KATS. The Avengers led 7-6 in the 1st Quarter and that score remained unchanged at the Half. In the 2nd Half ASA College rolled to a 28-13 win. QB “Avenging” Angel Nocciolo threw for 291 yds and 2 TD’s.

Santa monica college corsairsROAD ROUTS – The SANTA MONICA COLLEGE CORSAIRS paid a call on the WEST LOS ANGELES COLLEGE WILDCATS and hammered them 48-20     ###      The CHABOT COLLEGE GLADIATORS skewered their hosts the SAN JOAQUIN DELTA MUSTANGS to the tune of 56-20     ###      And the SIERRA COLLEGE WOLVERINES smacked down the SACRAMENTO CITY PANTHERS 42-16.
