NUMBER ONE TAKES A FALL – In NCAA Division Three the number 15 UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT OSHKOSH TITANS upset the top ranked defending champions – the dynastic UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER WARHAWKS. A 7-7 Halftime tie stayed in effect until the homestanding Titans managed a 4th Quarter Field Goal then blocked a Warhawk Field Goal attempt for a 10-7 win!
DOWN GOES NUMBER FOUR – In the NAIA the EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS traveled to Helena to face the number 4 team in the nation – the storied CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS. The Mountaineers surprised the Hellions from Helena by toppling them in a 28-21 Instant Classic!
AND NUMBER FIVE COMES TUMBLING AFTER – Staying in the NAIA for a moment the CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS played host to the 5th ranked SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS. The Cardinals have been kicking butts and taking names all season long and dragged down the Cougars in a 35-14 drubbing. Get this team ranked!
FOUR BACKS OVER A HUNDRED YARDS – In the NJCAA the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS had four – that’s right – FOUR – Running Backs all rush for more than 100 yards in the same game! This happened Saturday as the Blue Dragons scorched the homestanding GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS 49-14. The four backs were Treyvon Paulk, Tyren Jones, Blaik Middleton and Tre Griffin.
NUMBER SIX FALLS ON THE ROAD – In the NCAA Division Two the WESTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY WOLVES took the field against the visiting 6th ranked UNIVERSITY OF NORTH ALABAMA LIONS. The Wolves eked out a tight 24-22 win in this game for the ages!
NUMBER ONE GETS CRUSHED – In the CCCAA the 24th ranked FULLERTON COLLEGE HORNETS welcomed the number 1 RIVERSIDE COLLEGE TIGERS. A tight 17-14 Hornets lead in the 1st Quarter became 38-14 by Halftime and ultimately a 52-21 beatdown. Fullerton RB Phillip Butler ran for 218 yds and 2 TDs.
NAIA OVER NCAA AGAIN – There was just one game this weekend in the NAIA vs NCAA Division Three football rivalry. The NAIA’s PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS invaded the den of the FINLANDIA UNIVERSITY LIONS and converted a 7-0 1st Quarter lead into a 41-0 Halftime advantage. From there the Saints coasted to a 51-21 triumph.

* UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE *
NAIA – In addition to the 4th and 5th ranked teams in the nation falling on Saturday the number 10 team also got taken down. The 13th ranked REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES welcomed the number 10 FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Furies). Reinhardt clobbered Faulkner to the tune of 55-27.
NCAA DIVISION TWO – The (19) EMPORIA STATE HORNETS toppled the visiting (9) PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS 46-42 ### Meanwhile the ARKANSAS TECH WONDERBOYS won a 30-12 clash with their guests the (20) OUACHITA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY TIGERS ### And the HENDERSON STATE REDDIES upset the homestanding (22) HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON 22-17.
NCAA DIVISION THREE – The SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS held serve in a 31-28 upset of the (14) ROWAN PROFS ### The BUFFALO STATE BENGALS bounced the (18) CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS 29-21 ### Meanwhile the DEPAUW TIGERS defeated the (20) WITTENBERG TIGERS 35-30 ### And the SPRINGFIELD PRIDE crushed the (22) HOBART STATESMEN 35-13.
NJCAA – The (16) TRINITY VALLEY COLLEGE CARDINALS played host to the (13) BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS and won a 36-28 Instant Classic ### And the (18) LACKAWANNA COLLEGE FALCONS utterly destroyed the (17) ASA (NY) COLLEGE AVENGERS 63-13 in their own house.
CCCAA – The (17) SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS brought down the visiting (4) COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS COUGARS yesterday. The Snake Pit was rocking as the Gauchos led 6-0 in the 1st Quarter and 13-0 at the break enroute to a 19-3 victory. Aside from Riverside falling this was the only upset in the CCCAA Top 25.

WHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The (8) DOANE COLLEGE TIGERS greeted the (12) DAKOTA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS and routed them 42-17 ### And the (2) SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS – the defending champions – visited the (16) MONTANA WESTERN BULLDOGS and ruined Booster Bash with a 37-30 win in Overtime.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS won a 37-35 squeaker at the BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY CHARGERS ### And the VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS managed a 32-24 victory in their game against the visiting DAKOTA STATE TROJANS.
SHOOTOUT IN OKLAHOMA – The ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM are in just their second season of intercollegiate football but continue to impress. Yesterday they were on the road against the LANGSTON UNIVERSITY LIONS and wound up winning by a final count of 55-52. If you had the over/under being less than 100 points you lost your money.
SHOOTOUT IN KANSAS – The UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES found themselves visiting the BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS. This was another game where the points flew like the proverbial shrapnel. When all the dust in the wind had settled in this Kansas clash (see what I did there) the Spires had defeated the Threshers by a score of 52-50.
SHUTOUTS – The OTTAWA UNIVERSITY BRAVES decided to spoil Homecoming for their hosts the MCPHERSON COLLEGE BULLDOGS (should be the Mastiffs). The Braves blew the Bulldogs away 58-0. ### And the WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS welcomed the TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS and sent them home wincing from a 24-0 shutout.
UNHAPPY HOMECOMINGS – The STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS figuratively crashed the party at Homecoming for the BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES. The Warriors won a 37-34 nailbiter. ### And the (25) DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS embarrassed the UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES on their Homecoming 51-7.
AT LONG LAST VICTORY – The DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS had traveled to Ellendale, ND to do battle with the TRINITY BIBLE COLLEGE LIONS. The Defenders got a rare gridiron victory and – even more rare – a BLOWOUT victory! Dordt College pushed the Lions all over the field in an unbelievable 63-13 triumph.
ROAD WARRIORS – The MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS managed a tight 38-33 win at the ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS ### Meanwhile the MAYVILLE STATE COMETS notched a 33-25 road victory over the WALDORF COLLEGE WARRIORS ### And the UL-BELLEVILLE LYNX doubled up on their hosts the MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS 42-21.

EAGLES ON THE ROAD – The UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN (MN) EAGLES traveled to do battle with the MACMURRAY COLLEGE HIGHLANDERS. The Eagles – the top NCCAA team in Balladeer’s Blog’s unofficial poll – defeated the Highlanders in an exciting 21-13 affair.
HAPPY HOMECOMING – The CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS celebrated Homecoming with a game against the UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS. The Tigers made their case for sneaking back into the rankings by defeating the Bears in a 42-34 Battle Royal.
BEATDOWN – The NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS took it on the road against the AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES. This game was all Crusaders from start to finish as North Greenville University routed the Gyrenes 49-13 in front of their home crowd.
SO CLOSE FOR THE PANTHERS – The NCCAA’s KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE PANTHERS found themselves on the road against NCAA Division ONE’s Davidson University Wildcats. The Panthers gave the Wildcats almost more than they could handle and took them into Overtime. In the extra session Davidson got 7 points then shut out Kentucky Wesleyan for a 14-7 OT win.
NAIA OVER NCCAA – The NAIA’s CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS hosted the NCCAA’s KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS on Saturday. The Bulldogs dominated the Knights in this game and went on to win by a final score of 54-21.
NCAA DIVISION TWO OVER THE NCCAA – The NCAA Division Two team the BOWIE STATE BULLDOGS welcomed the NCCAA’s CHOWAN UNIVERSITY HAWKS. The Bulldogs wound up prevailing in this Instant Classic by a count of 17-14.

WHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The (2) UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA WOLVES battled the visiting (17) VALDOSTA STATE BLAZERS and crushed them 49-28 ### And the (12) TEXAS A&M AT COMMERCE LIONS survived a 38-35 invasion by the (21) ANGELO STATE RAMS.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The URBANA UNIVERSITY BLUE KNIGHTS managed a 33-30 victory at the LAKE ERIE COLLEGE STORM ### Meanwhile the MISSOURI WESTERN GRIFFONS withstood a 26-21 visit from the FT HAYS STATE TIGERS ### And the WILLIAM JEWELL CARDINALS beat the homestanding QUINCY HAWKS 24-21.
A DOUBLE SHOT OF THAT OT LOVE – The WALSH UNIVERSITY CAVALIERS hosted the FINDLAY UNIVERSITY OILERS yesterday. Four Quarters were not enough for these two teams and neither was just one Overtime session. The game went into Double Overtime with a missed PAT by the Oilers giving the Cavaliers a 39-38 triumph.
MAYBE YOU DON’T “GOTTA HAVE FAITH” – The (13) LENOIR- RHYNE UNIVERSITY BEARS ground the UNIVERSITY OF FAITH GLORY EAGLES into a fine powder in a NINETY-TWO to NOTHING game ### And the MISSOURI S&T MINERS eviscerated the COLLEGE OF FAITH MIGHTY BELIEVERS to the tune of 63-0.
ALL-NAME GAMES – The UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS crushed the visiting SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM to the tune of 51-10 ### And the NORTHEASTERN STATE RIVER HAWKS won a 31-14 game at the UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT KEARNEY LOPERS.
ROAD WARRIORS – The DIXIE STATE RED STORM won at the SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY CLAN by a score of 38-35 ### Meanwhile the MARS HILL UNIVERSITY LIONS eked out a 17-14 win at the NEWBERRY COLLEGE WOLVES ### And the SOUTH DAKOTA M&T HARDROCKERS slipped past the CENTRAL WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY WILDCATS 49-44.

KNOCKED OUT OF THE RANKINGS – The BERRY COLLEGE VIKINGS took it on the road against the 24th ranked UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO MAROONS. A 14-14 Halftime tie became a 17-17 tie to end Regulation. In Overtime the Vikings notched 7 points then shut out the Maroons for a 24-17 triumph!
DIFFERENTLY RANKED TEAMS – The CENTRE COLLEGE COLONELS were on the field of battle against the homestanding MILLSAPS COLLEGE MAJORS. The Colonels converted a 14-10 1st Quarter deficit into a 17-17 tie at the midpoint. The 2nd Half belonged to Centre College, who hammered the Majors for a 31-17 win.
DOUBLE OVERTIME CLASH – The OHIO WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY BATTLING BISHOPS were on the road against the KENYON COLLEGE LORDS. The teams were tied at 7-7 in the 1st Quarter and 13-13 at the break. Regulation ended in a 20-20 knot with neither team scoring in the 1st Overtime session. In Double OT the Battling Bishops pulled out a 23-20 win.
WE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE – The WILLAMETTE UNIVERSITY BEARCATS visited the PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY LUTES yesterday. Points were at a premium in this defensive duel. At Halftime the Bearcats trailed the Lutes 6-3 but in the end managed a thrilling 10-9 win.
DEVASTATION – The CORNELL (IA) COLLEGE RAMS hosted the GRINNELL COLLEGE PIONEERS. The Rams turned a 14-0 1st Quarter advantage into 33-0 at the Half. After the break they coasted to an authoritative SIXTY to SIX triumph. Cornell QB Daniel Brown passed for 341 yds and SIX TD’s.
WORKING OVERTIME – The UTICA COLLEGE PIONEERS invaded Bob Boozer Field to do battle with the BROCKPORT STATE GOLDEN EAGLES. Four Quarters wasn’t enough for these two teams as Regulation ended in a 19-19 tie. The Pioneers emerged with a 22-19 victory in Overtime.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The ST NORBERT COLLEGE GREEN KNIGHTS withstood a 21-14 visit from the CARROLL UNIVERSITY PIONEERS ### The WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY GENERALS defeated the HAMPDEN- SYDNEY TIGERS 35-28 on the road ### And the HENDRIX WARRIORS beat the visiting BIRMINGHAM- SOUTHERN COLLEGE PANTHERS.
ODDBALL SCORE OF THE DAY – The TRINITY (CT) BANTAMS played host to the HAMILTON COLLEGE CONTINENTALS. The Bantams held a 7-2 lead at the end of the opening Half but afterward they pushed the Continentals around for an odd 29-4 final score. Trinity RB Max Chipouras rushed for 123 yds and 3 Touchdowns.
BLOWOUTS – The OLIVET COLLEGE COMETS spanked their hosts the TRINE UNIVERSITY THUNDER by a score of 49-24 ### Meanwhile the ALBION COLLEGE BRITONS annihilated the KALAMAZOO HORNETS in a 72-40 affair ### And the FRANKLIN COLLEGE GRIZZLIES fed on the EARLHAM QUAKERS in an EIGHTY to NINETEEN laugher.

BUCCANEER BOOTY – The BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS trailed the visiting CISCO COLLEGE WRANGLERS by a score of 27-17 to end the 4th Quarter. In the final frame the Buccaneers shut out the Wranglers and put up 14 points of their own for a 31-27 comeback victory. Blinn College Running Back D’Anthony Hopkins rushed for 132 yards in the win.
BUTLER DID IT! – The BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES were less than gracious hosts to the DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS on Saturday. In this battle for First Place in the Jayhawk Conference the Grizzlies asserted their storied dominance of the league. A 17-0 1st Quarter lead ultimately became a 38-14 thrashing of the Conquistadors. Butler QB Justice Hansen passed for 201 yards.

ROAD WARRIORS – The MT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES trailed the homestanding GROSSMONT COLLEGE GRIFFINS 21-17 at Halftime but took control in the 2nd Half for a 45-28 win ### And the ORANGE COAST COLLEGE PIRATES laid down a 35-7 beating on their hosts the PIERCE COLLEGE BRAHMA BULLS.
RUSTLING UP PERFECTION – The GOLDEN WEST COLLEGE RUSTLERS stayed perfect in their game against the visiting VENTURA COLLEGE PIRATES. The Rustlers got off to a quick 20-0 1st Quarter lead which became 27-7 by the break. In the end Golden West College had to hold on for a 30-23 victory. Rustlers QB Adam Vance threw for 318 yds and 3 TD’s.
LANCERS GET OFF THE SCHNEID – The PASADENA COLLEGE LANCERS got off the schneid for the 2015 season in their game against the visiting EAST LOS ANGELES COLLEGE HUSKIES. The Lancers trailed the Huskies 13-7 at the Half, then seized a 20-16 advantage to end the 3rd Quarter and from there went on to win the game 27-16. Pasadena College QB Jett Even notched 4 TD’s on 285 yds passing.
