Benedictine RavensNUMBER THREE GOES DOWN – Yesterday the NAIA’s BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS welcomed the number 3 team in the nation – the BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS. This game was one for the ages as the Ravens managed a hard-fought 35-31 upset of the Wildcats. Benedictine College was ranked 18th two weeks ago, then fell from the rankings last week and this win will put them right back in again. 

Emory and Henry WaspsWASPS STING DIVISION ONE – The NCAA Division Three team the EMORY & HENRY COLLEGE WASPS took it on the road to face NCAA Division ONE’s EAST TENNESSEE STATE BUCCANEERS. The Wasps trailed 14-7 in the 1st Quarter and 17-14 at Halftime but came back for a 20-17 lead to end the 3rd Quarter. The teams exchanged Touchdowns in the 4th for a shattering 27-24 toppling of the D1 Buccaneers. Emory & Henry QB Kevin Saxton threw for 244 yds and 1 Touchdown. 

Shorter HawksSHORTER PLAYS GIANT-KILLER, TOO – The NCCAA’s SHORTER UNIVERSITY HAWKS were on the road against NCAA Division ONE’s SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE REDHAWKS. The Hawks earned their own David vs Goliath triumph for the second week in a row. When all was said and done in this unforgettable game Shorter University went back home boasting a thrilling 26-21 triumph over the higher division team.    

Salisbury Seagulls helmet* NINETY-ONE * – Balladeer’s Blog features a Centennial Club during college basketball season for teams that score over 100 points in Regulation. I may have to add it for football after this NINETY-ONE to SEVEN evisceration that the SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS just handed the visiting SOUTHERN VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS. My advice for SVU’s team: burn the game tape and deny that you were ever in the state of Maryland yesterday.

Williamson Trade HelmetMECHANICS PLUCK THE HAWKS’ FEATHERS – The WILLIAMSON TRADE SCHOOL MECHANICS from the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) traveled to face NCAA Division One team the UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND- EASTERN SHORE HAWKS. Head Coach Dan Drake’s Mechanics forced 8 turnovers as they dominated the Hawks to the tune of 14-2. 

San Joaquin Delta MustangsNUMBER TWO TAKES A FALL – In the CCCAA the SAN JOAQUIN DELTA COLLEGE MUSTANGS welcomed the 2nd ranked COLLEGE OF SAN MATEO BULLDOGS. The Mustangs seized a 16-0 1st Quarter lead enroute to a 43-30 shocker. San Joaquin Delta’s Running Back Evan Owens rushed for 188 yards and 3 Touchdowns.

American River College BeaversAND NUMBER THREE COMES TUMBLING AFTER – Also in the CCCAA the 16th ranked AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS were on the road against the number 3 CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO RAMS. The Beavers led 7-3 in the 1st Quarter and that score remained unchanged at Halftime. After a 10-10 tie to end the 3rd Quarter American River College went on to win the game 20-17. Beavers QB Jihad Vercher passed for 280 yds and 1 TD.

Saint Francis Fighting SaintsNAIA – The UNIVERSITY OF ST FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS spoiled Homecoming for the (7) ROBERT MORRIS (IL) EAGLES, downing them 24-14     ###      The (13) DOANE COLLEGE TIGERS defeated their guests the (10) NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS by a score of 28-21     ###      Meanwhile the EVANGEL UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS won a 19-14 tilt against the (12) WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN     ###      And the DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS stunned the (15) VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS 28-7.  

Seton Hill Griffins helmetNCAA DIVISION TWO – As it turned out there was only one upset in the Division Two rankings yesterday. The unranked SETON HILL UNIVERSITY GRIFFINS played host to the number 14 team in the nation – the SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY ROCKETS. This was one of the games of the day as the Griffins managed a 41-38 victory. 

St Thomas University TommiesNCAA DIVISION THREE – The (12) UNIVERSITY OF ST THOMAS TOMMIES visited their archrivals the (8) ST JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES. After a 7-7 Halftime tie the Tommies dominated for a 35-14 win.     ###      And the UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO MAROONS toppled their guests the (21) CENTRE COLLEGE COLONELS by a 49-30 count.  

siskiyous eagles helmetCCCAA – The COLLEGE OF THE SISKIYOUS EAGLES traveled to face the (9) DIABLO VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS and, in a marathon TRIPLE OVERTIME affair, ultimately emerged with a 48-42 upset win.     ###      Meanwhile the ORANGE COAST COLLEGE PIRATES notched a 31-23 road win over the (11) FULLERTON COLLEGE HORNETS     ###      And the BUTTE COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS defeated the visiting (12) FRESNO CITY COLLEGE RAMS  31-28.

Langston LionsLIONS EDGE WAR HAWKS – The NAIA’s LANGSTON UNIVERSITY LIONS welcomed the NCAA Division Three team the MCMURRY UNIVERSITY WAR HAWKS. The Lions seized a 13-0 1st Quarter advantage but by the 3rd the War Hawks had come back to eke out a 21-20 edge. Langston University rebounded from there to win the game by a final score of 32-29. 

Buena Vista University helmetBATTLE WITH BUENA VISTA – NCAA Division Three’s BUENA VISTA UNIVERSITY BEAVERS hosted the NAIA’s WALDORF COLLEGE WARRIORS. The Beavers trailed 7-0 in the 1st Quarter but tied things up at 7-7 by the break. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter Buena Vista University went on to win the game 14-10. Cody Mowery of the Beavers rushed for 165 yards and 1 Touchdown. 

Texas Lutheran BulldogsBULLDOG DETERMINATION – Division Three’s TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS took the field against the NAIA’s SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS. The Bulldogs parlayed a 14-0 opening Quarter lead into a 56-28 smackdown of the Lions. Texas Lutheran Quarterback Trenton White passed for 194 yards and 3 Touchdowns on the day.   

George Fox Bruins helmetREVENGE GAME – From NCAA Division Three the GEORGE FOX UNIVERSITY BRUINS took it on the road against the NAIA’s ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM. Last year the Firestorm defeated the Bruins in front of their own home crowd so this year George Fox University returned the favor. The Bruins defeated the Firestorm by an authoritative score of 45-27.

Sul Ross State Lobos helmet NEWTEXAS SHOOTOUT – The NCAA Division Three team the SUL ROSS STATE LOBOS traveled to take on the WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS from the NAIA. By Halftime the Lobos held a commanding 41-10 lead but the Pioneers launched a furious comeback attempt in the 2nd Half. When all of the dust had settled Sul Ross State had to hold on by their fingernails for a 54-46 victory. 

AFTER TWO WEEKS WON BY THE NAIA AND ONE WEEK A TIE, NCAA DIVISION THREE WINS ITS FIRST SATURDAY THIS YEAR, FOUR GAMES TO ONE.

C C Fighting SaintsRANKED TEAMS IN CLOSE CALLS – The (6) CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS eked out a slender 10-9 road victory to ruin Homecoming for the (16) MONTANA- WESTERN BULLDOGS     ###       The (9) SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS meanwhile survived a 38-31 invasion by the SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS     ###      And the (21) MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS outlasted the visiting COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES in a 29-21 thriller.  

Central Methodist helmetONE POINT WONDER – The CENTRAL METHODIST UNIVERSITY EAGLES took it on the road against the GRACELAND UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS yesterday. This was one of the best games of the day and after all the dust had settled in this one the Eagles went back home having pulled off a tight 21-20 triumph. 

Rocky Mountain CollegeWORKING OVERTIME – The ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS were on the road against their Frontier Conference rivals the EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS. After 4 bruising Quarters of football Regulation ended in a 29-29 tie. In the Overtime session a missed extra point by the Mountaineers gave the Battlin’ Bears a 36-35 victory. 

St Francis (IN)ONE TEAM WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL – The UNIVERSITY OF ST FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS absolutely annihilated the homestanding LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY AT BELLEVILLE LYNX in a 74-13 laugher     ###      Meanwhile the MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS dismembered the MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS 76-0     ###      And the SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS made the MONTANA STATE- NORTHERN LIGHTS rethink their lives after an 82-9 humiliation.  

Bethel (KS) ThreshersROAD WARRIORS – The BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS invaded the home stadium of the MCPHERSON COLLEGE BULLDOGS and doubled up on them by a score of 28-14.     ###      And the CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS won a much closer 21-17 road game against the TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS.    

Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie WolvesTHE COOLER NAME WINS – Don’t ever use that as a betting strategy but in these two games it was the truth: first the NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES kicked the butts of the MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS 30-18 in their own house     ###      And the ST AMBROSE UNIVERSITY  FIGHTING BEES snuck past the visiting DAKOTA STATE TROJANS 39-35.

Point University good helmetHOME STANDS – The POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS made the EDWARD WATERS COLLEGE TIGERS feel less than welcome yesterday, thrashing them to the tune of 56-14     ###      And the AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES (formerly the Avalanche) wiped out the CULVER-STOCKTON COLLEGE WILDCATS 60-20. 

Taylor TrojansSHUTOUTS – The TAYLOR UNIVERSITY TROJANS blanked the OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS in a 40-0 road win     ###      The FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES managed a 44-0 shutout of the forever-overrated GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS     ###      And the KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES logged a 42-0 road thrashing of the SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS.

Dakota Wesleyan Tigers helmet NEWHAPPY HOMECOMINGS – The (17) DAKOTA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS took on their Homecoming opponents the HASTINGS COLLEGE BRONCOS and manhandled them by a score of 36-14     ###      And the BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY CHARGERS managed a 38-28 Homecoming victory over the DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS.

Ave Maria University Gyrenes helmet NEWROAD WARRIORS – The AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES found themselves on the road against the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS and went back home boasting a 31-24 triumph     ###      Meanwhile the EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY TIGERS hammered the NCCAA’s OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON 41-20     ###      And the UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN (MN) EAGLES annihilated the MARTIN LUTHER COLLEGE KNIGHTS to the tune of 55-14.  

Chowan HawksHARD HITTING HOME STAND – The CHOWAN UNIVERSITY HAWKS were in a battle of the birds against the visiting SAINT AUGUSTINE’S UNIVERSITY HAWKS. In this example of Hawk on Hawk violence Chowan University had it all their own way, kicking Saint Augustine’s University all over the field for a FORTY-NINE to NOTHING shutout win.

North Greenville helmet NEWCRUSADING FOR A VICTORY – The NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS were less than gracious hosts to the visiting UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT PEMBROKE BRAVES. The Crusaders completely dominated this game against the Braves and went on to win it by a blowout score of 40-17.

Northwest Missouri BearcatsRANKED TEAMS IN CLOSE CALLS – The (4) NORTHWEST MISSOURI BEARCATS held on to defeat the visiting UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA BRONCHOS (sic) by a score of 23-16     ###      The (8) UNIVERSITY OF NORTH ALABAMA LIONS won a tight 55-48 affair against the FLORIDA TECH PANTHERS     ###      And the (15) MICHIGAN TECH HUSKIES pulled off a 24-23 home victory against the NORTHERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS.  

Tiffin University Dragons helmet NEWWORKING OVERTIME – Four Quarters of bone-shattering action just weren’t enough for the TIFFIN UNIVERSITY DRAGONS and their hosts – the MALONE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS. In the extra session the Dragons and Pioneers fought just as hard as they did during Regulation but there could only be one victor. That winner was Tiffin University by a final count of 27-24.

Adams StateA DOUBLE-SHOT OF THAT OT LOVE – The ADAMS STATE GRIZZLIES hosted the WESTERN STATE MOUNTAINEERS yesterday. The two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rivals did battle through 4 Quarters of Regulation and TWO OVERTIME PERIODS. In that 2nd Overtime session the Grizzlies at last emerged with a 52-51 triumph off a missed Extra Point by the Mountaineers.

East_StroudsburgUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The EAST STROUDSBURG UNIVERSITY WARRIORS logged a road win over the LOCK HAVEN UNIVERSITY BALD EAGLES by a score of 37-34     ###      Meanwhile the ST ANSELM COLLEGE HAWKS edged the homestanding AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL YELLOW JACKETS 26-20     ###      And the WINSTON- SALEM STATE RAMS won 17-10 at the ELIZABETH CITY STATE VIKINGS.

Arkansas TechALL-NAME GAMES – The ARKANSAS TECH WONDERBOYS smacked around the visiting SOUTHERN ARKANSAS UNIVERSITY MULERIDERS in a 44-21 rout     ###      The SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA SAVAGE STORM pummeled their hosts the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM     ###      And the MISSOURI S&T MINERS defended their home stadium from the ST JOSEPH’S COLLEGE PUMAS by a final score of 39-27.

Wesley WolverinesRANKED TEAMS IN CLOSE CALLS – The (5) WESLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES barely survived a 50-49 visit to face the (22) NORTH CENTRAL (IL) CARDINALS     ###      Meanwhile the (10) JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY BLUE STREAKS notched a 17-14 road win at the BALDWIN WALLACE UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS     ###      And the (16) ROWAN UNIVERSITY PROFS defeated the visiting MONTCLAIR STATE REDHAWKS 13-7.  

HELMETTUFTSWORKING OVERTIME – The TUFTS UNIVERSITY JUMBOS were on the road against the HAMILTON COLLEGE CONTINENTALS. The Jumbos were rolling with a 21-0 advantage by Halftime only to see the Continentals storm back to tie the game at 21-21, forcing Overtime. Tufts won in OT 24-21.     ###      And the (25) CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS won a 47-40 Overtime clash with the UTICA COLLEGE PIONEERS.

St John Fisher CardinalsTWO OVERTIMES ARE BETTER THAN ONE – Courage Bowl XI between the SAINT JOHN FISHER COLLEGE CARDINALS and the visiting BROCKPORT STATE GOLDEN EAGLES was a game for the ages. Regulation ended in a 35-35 tie with neither team scoring in the 1st OT session. In Double Overtime the Cardinals won the game 42-41 on a missed PAT by the Golden Eagles.

Kean CougarsUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The KEAN UNIVERSITY COUGARS faced a 7-6 1st Quarter deficit against the visiting WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY PIONEERS but came back to win a 27-24 thriller     ###      And the FRAMINGHAM STATE RAMS won a tight 39-35 road game against the WESTERN CONNECTICUT COLONIALS.

MIT EngineersTELL IT TO THE ENGINEERS – The MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERS hosted the MAINE MARITIME ACADEMY MARINERS and drubbed them to the tune of 51-26     ###      And the RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE ENGINEERS won a 28-21 game for the ages at the WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE ENGINEERS.

Washington and Lee GeneralsD3 OVER USCAA – The WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY GENERALS absolutely hammered the visiting USCAA team the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS in a 56-21 beatdown     ###      Meanwhile the CASTLETON UNIVERSITY SPARTANS won a 35-20 clash with the USCAA’s ALFRED STATE PIONEERS     ###      And the MINNESOTA- MORRIS COUGARS edged the USCAA’s IOWA WESLEYAN TIGERS 33-25 in their own house.  

FDU-Florham Devils helmetTHE DEVIL YOU SAY – The FDU-FLORHAM RED DEVILS defended their home stadium from the WILKES UNIVERSITY COLONELS in a 29-26 nailbiter.     ###      But the DICKINSON COLLEGE RED DEVILS fell to the visiting MORAVIAN COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS by a score of 55-38.  

HELMETOHIONORTHERNA TALE OF TWO POLAR BEAR TEAMS – The OHIO NORTHERN UNIVERSITY POLAR BEARS trailed the HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY STUDENT PRINCES 10-0 in the 1st Quarter but turned everything around for a 34-20 victory.     ###      And the BOWDOIN COLLEGE POLAR BEARS played host to the WILLIAMS COLLEGE EPHS (pronounced “eephs”) but unfortunately wound up on the wrong side of a 27-7 beating.

Carthage Red Men helmetONE POINT WONDER – The CARTHAGE COLLEGE RED MEN were on the road against the LAKELAND COLLEGE MUSKIES. After a 7-7 1st Quarter tie the Red Men trailed the Muskies 20-14 at Halftime. Carthage needed a 4th Quarter surge to pull out a 29-28 triumph in this Instant Classic. Running Back Londo Townsend rushed for 99 yards and a Touchdown for the Red Men.

ASA CollegeAVENGERS GO 4-1 – The ASA COLLEGE (NY) AVENGERS were on the road against the WAGNER COLLEGE SEA HAWKS on Saturday. The Avengers led the game by a score of 13-0 in the 1st Quarter and 20-0 at the Half enroute to a 34-3 rout of the Sea Hawks. ASA College Quarterback  “Avenging” Angel Nocciolo threw for 285 yards and 3 Touchdowns in this victory.

Independence Pirates helmetA VICTORY FOR INDEPENDENCE – The INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES got off the schneid for 2015 against the visiting GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS. The Pirates faced a 7-0 1st Quarter deficit but had seized a 14-7 advantage by Halftime. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter Independence College went on to win the game 20-7. Pirates Quarterback Bryce Gemmel had 2 TD’s on 100 yds rushing but no TD’s through the air.

Trinity Valley Cardinals helmetSPIRIT OF NINETY-FOUR – The TRINITY VALLEY COLLEGE CARDINALS clashed with the visiting TEXAS A&T SPARTANS in what turned out to be a complete laugher. Seven 1st Quarter points represented all the offense for the Spartans as the Cardinals led 66-7 by the Half on their way to a NINETY-FOUR to SEVEN obliteration of their guests. QB Jerod Evans had 6 TD’s on 373 yds passing for Trinity Valley.

Eastern Arizona CollegeHEE-LA! HEE-LA! – The EASTERN ARIZONA COLLEGE GILA MONSTERS traveled to face the MESA COLLEGE THUNDERBIRDS. The Gila Monsters trailed 7-0 in the 1st Quarter but cut that to a 7-6 margin by Halftime. By the end of the 3rd Quarter Eastern Arizona College led the erstwhile Thunderbirds by a score of 20-13 and finished the game with a 34-20 triumph.

Vermilion College Ironmen helmetSOLID AS IRON – Meanwhile the VERMILION COLLEGE IRONMEN notched a road victory of their own on Saturday against the MESABI RANGE COLLEGE NORSE. After a scoreless opening Quarter the Ironmen and the Norse were knotted up at 7-7 headed into the break. Vermilion College put up 6 points each in the 3rd and 4th Quarters for a 19-7 win.

Lackawanna College Falcons helmetUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The LACKAWANNA COLLEGE FALCONS welcomed the NASSAU COLLEGE LIONS and prevailed over them in a nailbiting 28-23 battle royal     ###      Meanwhile the NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS triumphed over their guests the SCOTTSDALE COLLEGE FIGHTING ARTICHOKES 28-25     ###      And the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES won a 31-25 thriller at the FORT SCOTT GREYHOUNDS.

Globe Tech Knights helmetA GLOBAL VICTORY – The GLOBE TECH KNIGHTS took it on the road against the DEAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Knights grabbed a 10-0 lead by Halftime. That became 36-7 in the 3rd Quarter and ultimately a 50-20 blowout as Globe Tech improved to 4-0. Knights Running Back Darius Webb rushed for 205 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Tyler Apaches helmetBUTTKICKINGS – The TYLER COLLEGE APACHES folded, spindled and mutilated the homestanding CISCO COLLEGE WRANGLERS to the tune of 70-28     ###      Meanwhile the NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN totaled their guests the ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE BUFFALOES 54-24     ###      And the ROCHESTER TECH YELLOW JACKETS logged a 54-18 road win over the ITASCA COLLEGE VIKINGS.  

Snow College Badgers helmetSHUTOUT – The SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS achieved defensive perfection against their guests, the GLENDALE (AZ) COLLEGE GAUCHOS. Both defenses ruled the opening Quarter, which ended in a scoreless tie. At the Half the Badgers held a 3-0 edge which grew to a 10-0 edge to end the 3rd Quarter and finally a 24-0 shutout win. Snow College’s QB Dylan Touvell passed for 2 TD’s on 126 yds.

College of the Sequoias helmetHAPPY HOMECOMING – The Mineral King Bowl was rocking last night as the COLLEGE OF THE SEQUOIAS GIANTS celebrated Homecoming with a game against the DE ANZA COLLEGE DONS. A 7-3 1st Quarter lead for the Giants became a 14-3 Halftime advantage and ultimately a 28-6 triumph. College of the Sequoias Running Back Devon Calhoun rushed for 2 Touchdowns via 98 yards on the ground.

Shasta Knights helmet NEWONE TEAM WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL – The SHASTA COLLEGE KNIGHTS won a 63-35 road rout against the COLLEGE OF THE REDWOODS CORSAIRS. Shasta College Quarterback Ryan Pollard threw for 343 yards and 3 Touchdowns.     ###      And the LOS ANGELES VALLEY COLLEGE MONARCHS devastated the visiting LOS ANGELES SOUTHWEST COLLEGE COUGARS by a final score of 63-14. 

 El Camino College Warriors helmetCLASSIC AT CITRUS STADIUM – The EL CAMINO COLLEGE WARRIORS were on the road against the CITRUS COLLEGE OWLS. The Warriors trailed 7-3 to end the 1st Quarter but the two teams were tied at 17-17 by Halftime. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter El Camino College outscored the Owls 6-3 in the 4th for a 23-20 win. Warriors QB Jorge Hernandez passed for 265 yards and 2 Touchdowns.  

Yuba 49ers helmetONE POINT WONDER – The YUBA COLLEGE FORTY-NINERS hosted the MENDOCINO COLLEGE EAGLES. Despite trailing at the Half by a score of 13-6 the 49ers came back to win this game in a 22-21 gridiron epic. Yuba’s pair of Running Backs – Tyrone Dennis and Joey Thurman – each managed a rushing Touchdown in this game that had spectators on the edge of their seat until the bitter end. 

Santa monica college corsairsROAD WARRIORS – The SANTA MONICA COLLEGE CORSAIRS defeated their hosts the ANTELOPE VALLEY COLLEGE MARAUDERS in a 54-40 shootout     ###      Meanwhile the PIERCE COLLEGE BRAHMA BULLS got past the GLENDALE (CA) COLLEGE VAQUEROS by a score of 27-16     ###      And the MT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES eked out a 34-31 win over the CHAFFEY COLLEGE PANTHERS.  

Golden West College RustlersBATTLE OF COOL-NAMED TEAMS – The GOLDEN WEST COLLEGE RUSTLERS took it on the road against the GROSSMONT COLLEGE GRIFFINS on Saturday. A 7-0 1st Quarter lead for the Rustlers became 10-0 at the break and 17-0 in the 3rd before the Griffins at last got on the board in the 4th. The final tally was Golden West College 17  Grossmont College 7. Rustlers QB Adam Vance threw for 198 yards and 2 Touchdowns.

Contra Costa helmet BLUEUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The CONTRA COSTA COLLEGE COMETS won a 33-28 nailbiter against the homestanding MERCED COLLEGE BLUE DEVILS     ###      Meanwhile the COLLEGE OF THE DESERT ROADRUNNERS triumphed over their hosts the SAN DIEGO MESA COLLEGE OLYMPIANS by a count of 35-17     ###      And the SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS bounced the PALOMAR COLLEGE COMETS 30-13.
