Pacific Boxers helmetNCAA D3 OVER NAIA – D3’s PACIFIC UNIVERSITY BOXERS traveled to face the COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES and won a 32-31 Instant Classic!     ###      Meanwhile the CONCORDIA (Moorhead) COBBERS hammered the visiting UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES to the tune of 41-17. * THIS WEEK GOES TO THE NAIA THREE GAMES TO TWO. *

Texas_AM_KingsvilleSO CLOSE FOR THE JAVELINAS – D2’s TEXAS A&M AT KINGSVILLE JAVELINAS came tantalizingly close to upsetting Division ONE’s Incarnate Word University Cardinals. The Javelinas had the Cardinals’ home crowd on the edge of their seats as they fought Incarnate Word toe to toe and blow for blow, falling by a mere 18-16 final score.

Carroll_MTNUMBER ONE GOES DOWN – The NAIA’s top ranked defending champions – the SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS – were on the road against the number 4 CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS, the most successful football dynasty in NAIA history. A 7-0 Raiders lead in the 1st Quarter became a 20-17 edge for the Fighting Saints by Halftime. A 20-20 tie to start the 4th Quarter ended as a 26-20 victory for the Hellions fom Helena! 

Copiah Lincoln WolfpackANOTHER NUMBER ONE TAKES A FALL – In the NJCAA the 4th ranked COPIAH- LINCOLN COLLEGE WOLFPACK toppled the top ranked defending champions – the EAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LIONS. The Lions’ plans for a threepeat may have been derailed with this loss to the same team which, coincidentally enough, was the LAST team to defeat East Miss back in 2012. After tying the game 24-24 to end Regulation the Wolfpack went on to win it 31-24 in Overtime, ending the Lions’ win streak at 25 games.

William Penn helmetOTHER UPSETS IN THE TOP TEN – It took THREE OVERTIMES to do it but the 19th ranked WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN upset their guests, the number 8 MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS by a final score of 51-48. This clash was also the Marathon Game of the Week for this time around in the NAIA.  

Cumberland BulldogsTOP TWENTY-FIVE UPSETS – The CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS toppled the visiting (11) GEORGETOWN (KY) TIGERS 33-26 on SIDS Awareness Day     ###      Meanwhile the DAKOTA WESLEYAN TIGERS edged the (14) OTTAWA UNIVERSITY BRAVES 23-22 in their own house     ###      And the NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES shocked the homestanding (21) FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS 27-17.

Morningside MustangsRANKED TEAMS ROLLING – The number 3 team in the nation – the MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS – annihilated the STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS in their own house SEVENTY-SEVEN to SEVENTEEN!     ###      And the 22nd ranked DOANE COLLEGE TIGERS likewise won a rout on the road, in their case FIFTY-FOUR to SEVEN against the MCPHERSON BULLDOGS (should be the Mastiffs).

Evangel CrusadersUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The EVANGEL UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS played host to the PERU STATE BOBCATS and held on to win a 25-21 nailbiter     ###      The DAKOTA STATE TROJANS survived a 28-24 visit from the DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS     ###      And the (T4) SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS notched a 34-28 road win at the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS. 

Siena Heights SaintsROAD ROUTS – The SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS invaded the home stadium of the LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY AT BELLEVILLE LYNX and charred them by a score of 45-20     ###      Meanwhile the MONTANA- WESTERN BULLDOGS crushed the ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS 49-6 in their own house     ###      And the (17) VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS pounded the homestanding MAYVILLE STATE COMETS 55-6.   

Briar Cliff Chargers helmet NEWDOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY CHARGERS more than doubled up on their hosts, the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES, 27-13.     ###      And the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS exactly doubled the offensive output of the UNION (KY) BULLDOGS in a 42-21 road spanking.  

St Ambrose UniversityWINNING ON THE ROAD – The SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES managed a 25-21 victory against the CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS in a game for the ages     ###      And the number 10 FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Furies) won a 45-33 battle at the SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE, who are in just their second year of playing intercollegiate football. 

Lindsey_Wilson_KYSECOND VERSE, SAME AS THE FIRST – The LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS traveled to take on the LYON COLLEGE SCOTS in what was just the second intercollegiate football game EVER for the latter team. This second gridiron clash went almost as badly as the first one as the Blue Raiders folded, spindled and mutilated the Scots by a score of SEVENTY-SIX to TEN!

Stonehill Skyhawks helmetUPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The STONEHILL COLLEGE SKYHAWKS pulled off their program’s biggest ever upset of a ranked team, toppling the 14th ranked BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY HUSKIES in their own house by a count of 27-10!     ###      And the WEST LIBERTY STATE HILLTOPPERS survived a 29-28 home stand against the number 16 CONCORD UNIVERSITY MOUNTAIN LIONS.

Harding Bisons helmetWORKING OVERTIME – Believe it or not there was just one Overtime game in D2 yesterday. The 19th ranked HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON had traveled to face the OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON. This Bison on Bison battle wound up in a 13-13 tie to end Regulation. In OT Harding University managed a Touchdown and PAT while Oklahoma Baptist got the TD but failed on the point after. Harding won the game 20-19.

Pace Setters helmetHEROIC HOME STANDS – The PACE UNIVERSITY SETTERS took on the visiting AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES and got their 2015 campaign started with a 36-23 victory.     ###      The HUMBOLDT STATE LUMBERJACKS survived a 29-20 visit from the WESTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY WOLVES.     ###     And the VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY PANTHERS won a 35-21 clash with the BREVARD COLLEGE TORNADOS.

Alderson Broaddus Battlers helmetUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The ALDERSON BROADDUS UNIVERSITY BATTLERS pulled out a 22-14 victory over their guests, the CENTRAL STATE MARAUDERS     ###      Meanwhile the SOUTHERN ARKANSAS UNIVERSITY MULERIDERS defeated the visiting SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA BULLDOGS by a score of 28-24     ###      And the GANNON UNIVERSITY GOLDEN KNIGHTS logged a 26-22 road win over the SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE OWLS.

Glenville State Pioneers helmetSHUTOUTS – The GLENVILLE STATE PIONEERS blanked the homestanding URBANA BLUE KNIGHTS 49-0     ###      The SHEPHERD UNIVERSITY RAMS likewise dominated on the road, crushing the WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN BOBCATS 43-0     ###      The WINGATE UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS won a 14-0 game at the JOHNSON C SMITH GOLDEN BULLS     ###      And the TUSKEGEE GOLDEN TIGERS mauled the visiting CLARK ATLANTA PANTHERS by a count of 26-0.

Lincoln pa lions helmetNO RELIEF FOR CHEYNEY – The LINCOLN UNIVERSITY LIONS were the last team to be defeated by the CHEYNEY UNIVERSITY WOLVES years ago. Since then Cheyney has been suffering the longest losing streak in ALL divisions of college football. Some of the Wolves faithful hoped Karma would grant them another win over Lincoln University to end the nightmare. The traveling Lions would have none of it and edged Cheyney 29-22.

Mississippi_College_OLD1ONE TEAM WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL – The MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE CHOCTAWS literally decimated their guests the TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS by defeating them 61 to 6     ###      The (17) COLORADO MINES OREDIGGERS dynamited the visiting SOUTH DAKOTA M&T HARDROCKERS to the tune of 63-28     ###      And the MCKENDREE UNIVERSITY BEARCATS annihilated the independent COLLEGE OF FAITH MIGHTY BELIEVERS 68-0.

Rowan ProfsUPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The ROWAN UNIVERSITY PROFS took it on the road against the number 12 WIDENER UNIVERSITY PRIDE and went back home boasting a 24-10 upset victory     ###      And the 23rd ranked THOMAS MORE COLLEGE SAINTS played host to the number 19 SAINT JOHN FISHER CARDINALS. The Saints utterly obliterated the Cardinals in an unexpected FORTY-EIGHT to NOTHING laugher.  

St Thomas University TommiesALL-NAME GAMES – The (14) UNIVERSITY OF SAINT THOMAS TOMMIES traveled to face the UW-EAU CLAIRE BLUGOLDS and obliterated them SIXTY-TWO to SEVEN     ###      And the (15) WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE PRESIDENTS likewise won a road blowout against the COLLEGE OF WOOSTER SCOTS 56-10.  

Cortland State Red DragonsCLASSIC IN CORTLAND – The CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS welcomed the HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY STUDENT PRINCES yesterday. The Red Dragons trailed the Student Princes 14-6 in the 1st Quarter and 17-13 by Halftime. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter Cortland State outscored Heidelberg 13-7 in the 4th to eke out a 26-24 comeback win. Red Dragons QB Steven Ferreira threw for 218 yds and 4 Touchdowns.

Maritime College PrivateersSHUTOUT FOR THE PRIVATEERS – The MARITIME COLLEGE PRIVATEERS got to break their first two-by-four of the season in style after Saturday’s battle with the MAINE MARITIME MARINERS. The Privateers were up 14-0 after the 1st Quarter and 17-0 by the Half on their way to a 30-0 blanking of their opponents. Maritime College RB Brett McKinney rushed for 111 yards and 2 Touchdowns in the victory.

Alfred SaxonsWHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT, ALFRED? – The ALFRED UNIVERSITY SAXONS took it on the road against the HUSSON UNIVERSITY EAGLES. The Saxons battled back from being down 12-0 in the 1st Quarter to take a 21-18 lead by Halftime. That became a 32-25 advantage to start the 4th Quarter and ultimately a 39-25 road win for Alfred U. Saxons Quarterback Tyler Johnson had 2 Touchdowns on 170 yards passing. 

Alma Scots helmetWELCOME TO THE GRIDIRON – The ALMA COLLEGE SCOTS visited the FINLANDIA UNIVERSITY LIONS, who were playing their first ever intercollegiate football game. The merciless Scots seized a 22-0 lead in the 1st Quarter on their way to a FORTY-THREE to NOTHING beatdown of the Lions. Congratulations to Alma College and welcome to football Finlandia University! RB Nick Sullivan of the Scots rushed for 134 yards and 3 Touchdowns.  

Puget Sound Loggers helmetWORKING OVERTIME – The UNIVERSITY OF PUGET SOUND LOGGERS were trailing the homestanding CLAREMONT-MUDD- SCRIPPS STAGS 19-6 to start the 4th Quarter. The Loggers fought back to tie the game at 19-19 and force Overtime. UPS delivered a 22-19 win in the extra session.     ###      And the LAKELAND COLLEGE MUSKIES also notched a road win in OT as they downed the CARROLL UNIVERSITY PIONEERS 34-33 off a missed PAT by the Pioneers.

Brockport State helmetPURE GOLD – The BROCKPORT STATE GOLDEN EAGLES traveled to play the OBERLIN COLLEGE YEOMEN and smacked them all around the field. The Golden Eagles led 14-0 in the 1st Quarter and 28-7 by the Half enroute to a 44-7 beatdown of the Yeomen. Brockport State managed 2 Touchdowns through the air and 3 on the ground in this blowout. 

Illinois College Blue Boys helmetFABULOUS FIFTIES – The ILLINOIS COLLEGE BLUE BOYS played Road Warriors at the AURORA UNIVERSITY SPARTANS, clubbing them down to the tune of 53-20.     ###      Meanwhile the FROSTBURG STATE BOBCATS mauled their hosts the GENEVA COLLEGE GOLDEN TORNADOES 52-21     ###      And the GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE GUSTIES ravaged the CROWN COLLEGE STORM by a score of 56-13. 

La Verne Leopards helmetHELLO LAVOINE – The UNIVERSITY OF LA VERNE LEOPARDS hosted the GEORGE FOX UNIVERSITY BRUINS. A 7-6 Leopards lead in the 1st Quarter became a 13-7 deficit by Halftime. The University of La Verne saved their biggest Quarter for the 4th, storming from behind for a 27-23 triumph. Leopards Running Back Travis Sparks rushed for 169 yards and 2 Touchdowns.  

Albion BritonsSHOOTOUT – The ALBION COLLEGE BRITONS took the field against the visiting UW-STEVENS POINT POINTERS on Saturday. Points flew like shrapnel in this game as the Britons accumulated a 34-31 edge over the Pointers by the break. After the Half Albion College got some separation and went on to win by a score of 65-52. Britons Quarterback Dominic Bona passed for 296 yards and 4 Touchdowns.

Scottsdale_CC_AZNUMBER TWO TAKES A FALL – The SCOTTSDALE COLLEGE FIGHTING ARTICHOKES were on the road against the number 2 team in the nation – the ARIZONA WESTERN COLLEGE MATADORS. The Fighting Artichokes made a huge statement that stunned the nation, shutting out the Matadors in a 21-0 tour-de-force performance.

Hutchinson Blue DragonsBLUE DRAGONS SCORCH THE GREYHOUNDS – The 4th ranked HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS traveled to face the FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Blue Dragons seized a 14-0 lead by Halftime. After the break Hutch kept up the pressure on both sides of the ball culminating in a 37-6 beatdown and a 2-0 start for 2015. QB Kyle Binn had 3 TD’s on 126 yds through the air.  

ASA CollegeAVENGERS BACK IN FORM – The ASA COLLEGE (NY) AVENGERS bounced back from last week’s shocking loss on the road against their sister school ASA College at Miami. The Avengers paid a visit to the WIDENER UNIVERSITY PRIDE and took their anger out on them. ASA College led 13-0 after 1 Quarter of play enroute to a FORTY-ONE to NOTHING trouncing of the Pride. Avengers QB Emmet Hunt passed for 145 yards and 3 Touchdowns.  

Dickinson State Blue HawksAND SPEAKING OF ASA IN FLORIDA – The ASA COLLEGE AT MIAMI SILVER STORM improved to 2-1 on the season as they welcomed the ELITE PERFORMER ACADEMY COBRAS. The Silver Storm got off to a 7-0 lead in the opening Quarter and built upon that for a 20-0 advantage at Halftime. After the break neither team scored, making that 20-0 tally the final score as well. Both ASA-Miami Quarterbacks – Itoro Nelson and Bryant Stewart – saw action and threw for 1 Touchdown each.

Butler (KS) GrizzliesREIVERS IN TROUBLE – For the second game in a row the usually potent IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS underperformed. Credit must also be given to the BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES, who are perennial gridiron powers themselves. The Grizzlies converted a 26-0 lead at the Half into a 40-7 beatdown of the Reivers. Butler Running Back KicKobe McCrary scored 2 Touchdowns on 70 yards rushing. 

North Dakota State College of Science helmet NEWWILD WILDCATS – The NORTH DAKOTA STATE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE WILDCATS welcomed the FOND DU LAC TRIBAL COLLEGE THUNDER on Saturday. Points were at a premium in this battle as the 1st Quarter ended in a 3-0 Wildcat lead. That became 9-0 at Halftime and after a scoreless 3rd Quarter NDSCS finished up with a 12-7 victory. Wildcats Quarterback Dallas Cook led his team through the air with 119 yards. 

Central Lakes Brainerd RaidersUTTER ANNIHILATION – The CENTRAL LAKES- BRAINERD RAIDERS dismembered the visiting RIDGEWATER COLLEGE WARRIORS to the tune of SIXTY-EIGHT to THIRTEEN!     ###      Meanwhile the ROCHESTER TECH YELLOW JACKETS pounded their hosts, the MINNESOTA WEST BLUE JAYS 51-6     ###      And the HUDSON VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS traveled to crush the UTICA COLLEGE PIONEERS by a score of 58-13. 

Dodge City Conquistadors helmetARTFUL DODGE CITY – The DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS took it on the road against the GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS on Saturday night. By Halftime the two teams had fought to a 14-14 tie. After the break the Conquistadors took a 34-28 lead to end the 3rd Quarter and in the end went back home boasting a 40-35 road win. Dodge City Running Back Mark Thompson compiled 201 yards and 1 Touchdown.
