No matter what ESPN says THIS was opening weekend for the 2015 College Football Season for plenty of 4-year and 2-year schools.
* NAIA *
BLUE HAWKS RESURGENT? – Everyone has been pointing to this as the season that the DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS return to gridiron prominence. There’s a long way to go of course but at least the Blue Hawks got their 2015 campaign started on a triumphant note, defeating the visiting MONTANA STATE- NORTHERN LIGHTS in a very entertaining 17-7 battle.
MAIM CANADA – The EDWARD WATERS (FL) TIGERS welcomed Canada’s LANGARA COLLEGE FALCONS but left their guests questioning their lives. The Tigers dominated the team from Vancouver on both sides of the ball, folding, spindling and mutilating the hapless Falcons to the tune of SEVENTY-SIX to SEVEN!
* NJCAA *
BATTLE IN THE TOP FIFTEEN – The 14th ranked GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE BULLDOGS played host to the number 15 NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS. This case of Bulldog-on- Bulldog violence was an undeniable gridiron classic that went all the way down to the wire with the end result being a 35-34 victory for Georgia Military.
NOT QUITE EASY FOR ABC – The ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE BUFFALOES began the 2015 season against the GEORGIA ACADEMY LIONS yesterday. The heavily- favored Buffaloes got a much bigger fight out of the Lions than they expected but still notched a win. The final score in this game for the ages was Buffaloes 16 Lions 14.
WELCOME TO THE GRIDIRON – The ASA (NY) Avengers’ sister school in Florida – the ASA COLLEGE- MIAMI SILVER STORM – played their first ever intercollegiate football game this weekend. The Silver Storm were in Texas facing the storied BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS. ASA-Miami actually led 6-3 in the 1st Quarter and played tough til the 4th Quarter, when the Bucs pulled away for a 29-19 win.
MILITARY CLASH OUT WEST – The NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (maybe should be the Cavalry) traveled to face the AIR FORCE PREP FALCONS yesterday. The Broncos were thoroughly in charge for the overwhelming majority of the game and defeated their hosts by a final count of 26-10.
ABSOLUTE ANNIHILATION – The PIMA COLLEGE AZTECS welcomed the TUCSON PREP ACADEMY GRIFFINS on Friday night to truly usher in the 2015 football season. The Aztecs were all business and left their opponents no doubt wanting to just burn the game tape and start over after a blistering defeat. Pima College won by an unbelievable score of EIGHTY-THREE to TWO!
