NAIA WELCOMES SIX NEW COLLEGE SPORTS TEAMS

Six new college sports teams will be joining the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics). Those teams, in descending order of nickname awesomeness, are:

Providence Christian College Sea BeggarsPROVIDENCE (CA) CHRISTIAN COLLEGE SEA BEGGARS

Location: Pasadena, CA

Comment: How can you not love a nickname as cool and unique as Sea Beggars? And when you combine that nickname with this terrific logo it’s a safe bet PCC’s teams will become nationwide favorites in no time.

ohiochristiantrailblazersOHIO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY TRAILBLAZERS

Location: Circleville, OH

Comment: Balladeer’s Blog has been covering Ohio Christian University as members of the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) and the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) up to now, so regular readers are already very familiar with them.

Governors State University JaguarsGOVERNORS STATE UNIVERSITY JAGUARS

Location: University Park, IL

Comment: Governors State University is fast gaining a reputation as one of Illinois’ finest institutions of higher learning. It will be a lot of fun following their Jaguars sports teams in the months and years ahead!

Benedictine U at Mesa Red HawksBENEDICTINE UNIVERSITY AT MESA RED HAWKS

Location: Mesa, AZ

Comment: Get in on the ground level as BU-Mesa launches a variety of its sports teams! One day the Red Hawks at this institution will have championships plus legendary athletes and coaches! It’s always a thrill to watch a program grow from the very beginning!

Multnomah U LionsMULTNOMAH UNIVERSITY LIONS

Location: Portland, OR

Comment: As with OCU above regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog are very familiar with the Multnomah University Lions because of my coverage of the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) and the ACCA (Association of Christian College Athletics).

Sierra nevada college eaglesSIERRA NEVADA COLLEGE EAGLES

Location: Incline Village, NV

Comment: Welcome to Sierra Nevada College! It’s odd that a college that shines in such exciting sports has the most overused nickname in the world for its teams. Something like “The Snowbirds” might fit the various winter sports they excel in or maybe even “The Lakers” since they’re near Lake Tahoe.
