* NCAA DIVISION TWO *
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Balladeer’s Blog’s college basketball coverage for the 2014-2015 season officially comes to a close with this final title game in the divisions covered here. The sole remaining 1 seed – the FLORIDA SOUTHERN COLLEGE MOCCASINS – played the 3rd seeded INDIANA UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA CRIMSON HAWKS. The Crimson Hawks had upset three other 1 seeds along the way (D2 has eight 1 seeds in its tournament) but the Moccasins proved to be too much for them.
Florida Southern College held a 37-28 lead by Halftime and after the break held off any potential rally from IUP while continuing to add to their lead. When the dust settled the Moccasins had won their first basketball championship since 1981 with a 77-62 victory. FSC finishes the season with an astounding 36-1 record. Four Moccasins scored in double digits, led by Kevin Capers with 24 points. * CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MOCCASINS, THE 2015 CHAMPIONS OF NCAA DIVISION TWO BASKETBALL! *
