COLLEGE BASKETBALL CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT RESULTS FROM MARCH 4th

college of idaho coyoteCASCADE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE – The top seeded COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES brought an end to the Cinderella run of the 6th seeded NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY BEACONS last night by handing them an 83-59 loss to take the title. * The Coyotes move on to the NAIA Basketball National Tournament as the CCC’s tournament champions as well as the regular season champions. The Beacons, as the conference tournament runners-up, get the CCC’s other bid to the National Tournament. 

Bethel (in) PilotsCROSSROADS LEAGUE – Two Cinderella teams clashed for this conference’s title as the 4th seeded BETHEL COLLEGE (IN) PILOTS (riverboat pilots) won a 70-65 Instant Classic against the 6th seeded GRACE COLLEGE LANCERS. * The Pilots, as the conference tournament champions, advance to the NAIA Basketball National Tournament. The Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats, as the regular season champions, get the Crossroads League’s other bid to the National Tournament.  

Morningside Mustangs logoGREAT PLAINS ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The 2nd seeded MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS brought down the top seeded DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS in an 87-85 game for the ages. * The Mustangs move on to the NAIA Basketball National Tournament as the conference tournament champions. The Defenders, as the regular season conference champions, get the GPAC’s other bid to the National Tournament. 

Bellevue BruinsMIDLANDS COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The North Division’s Top Seeds, the BELLEVUE UNIVERSITY BRUINS defeated the South Division’s Top Seeds, the OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES by a final score of 87-75. * The Bruins, as the conference tournament champions, move on to the NAIA Basketball National Tournament. 

Seahawklogo_THE SUN CONFERENCE – The NORTHWOOD (FL) SEAHAWKS came into the conference tournament as the 3 seeds but last night they upset the top seeded SAINT THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS 94-82 to take the title. * The Seahawks advance to the NAIA Basketball National Tournament as the conference tournament champions. The Bobcats, as the regular season champions, get the Sun Conference’s other bid to the National Tournament. 

Harris Stowe State HornetsAMERICAN MIDWEST CONFERENCE – The 10th seeded HARRIS-STOWE STATE HORNETS upset the 9th seeded MID-CONTINENT COLLEGE COUGARS yesterday in a 68-66 Instant Classic   ###   Meanwhile the 7 seeds, the WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS, kicked around the 8th seeded MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS by a score of 94-75   ###   And the 6th seeded BENEDICTINE- SPRINGFIELD BULLDOGS bounced the 11th seeded HANNIBAL- LAGRANGE UNIVERSITY TROJANS 71-59. 

Wiley College WildcatsRED RIVER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – There was only one game in the opening round of the RRAC’s tournament. The 4th seeded WILEY COLLEGE WILDCATS squared off against the 5th seeded LANGSTON UNIVERSITY LIONS for the right to advance. The Wildcats chewed up the Lions and spit them out in a 77-52 blowout.

pointlomanazareneWEST REGION – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This was the only region from NCCAA Division 1 holding its championship game yesterday. The POINT LOMA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY SEA LIONS did battle with the AZUSA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY COUGARS to decide who would wear the West Region crown. The Sea Lions wound up defeating the Cougars in an authoritative 86-70 performance. * The Sea Lions advance to the NCCAA Division One National Tournament. 

lancaster bible collegeEAST REGION – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The East Region of the National Christian College Athletic Association was the NCCAA’s only Division 2 region that had not yet finished its title game going into last night. The top seeded LANCASTER BIBLE COLLEGE CHARGERS led the 2nd seeded VALLEY FORGE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE PATRIOTS 36-20 by Halftime and kept up both the offensive AND defensive pressure in the 2nd Half. The final score was Chargers 72  Patriots 48. * The Chargers join the other regional champions in moving on to the NCCAA Division Two National Tournament.

Fort Scott Greyhounds logoREGION 206 – SEMIFINALS – The FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS were humiliating the KANSAS CITY (KS) COLLEGE BLUE DEVILS 39-17 at the break enroute to an 82-65 ticket to the regional championship game.   ###   And in the other semifinal the BROWN-MACKIE COLLEGE LIONS never lost control against the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES, moving on with an 89-75 triumph. 

Iowa Central Tritons logoREGION 211 – QUARTERFINALS – The IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS upset the ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS in a 78-74 Overtime epic   ###   In another Overtime game the NORTH IOWA AREA COLLEGE TROJANS fell to the KIRKWOOD COLLEGE EAGLES  75-71   ###   Meanwhile the DES MOINES COLLEGE BEARS won a 69-64 Instant Classic against the CLINTON (IA) COLLEGE COUGARS   ###   And the IOWA LAKES COLLEGE LAKERS bounced the SOUTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE SPARTANS in a very odd 52-36 game. 

njc logo.gif (125×154)REGION 109 – SEMIFINALS – The NORTHEASTERN COLLEGE PLAINSMEN squared off against the SHERIDAN COLLEGE GENERALS in this semifinal and dispatched them 90-79.   ###   And in the other semifinal from this region the GILLETTE COLLEGE PRONGHORNS overcame the NORTH PLATTE COLLEGE KNIGHTS in an enjoyable 86-74 outcome.

South Georgia Tech JetsREGION 117 – QUARTERFINALS – The SOUTH GEORGIA TECH JETS battled the GORDON STATE HIGHLANDERS in a memorable brouhaha that saw the Jets win by a score of 83-76   ###   Meanwhile the GEORGIA HIGHLANDS COLLEGE CHARGERS upset the CHATTAHOOCHEE TECH GOLDEN EAGLES in an 88-74 thriller   ###   The CENTRAL GEORGIA TECH TITANS smacked down the EAST GEORGIA STATE BOBCATS 84-65   ###   And the ATLANTA METROPOLITAN COLLEGE TRAILBLAZERS prevailed over the SOUTH GEORGIA STATE HAWKS in an 83-74 affair.  

olney.gif (144×153)REGION 124 – PLAY-IN ROUND – The OLNEY CENTRAL COLLEGE BLUE KNIGHTS hosted the LEWIS & CLARK COLLEGE TRAILBLAZERS to open the roundball action for the Region 124 tournament. At length the Blue Knights pulled away from the Trailblazers to win this game by a final score of 70-57.
