I have been getting emails asking me to comment on the Quentin Tarantino reboot of Django in his new movie Django Unchained. I already did, months ago. Below is the link for the interested parties now that there is so much discussion of Jamie Foxx’s comments going on.
My view on the Django phenomenon also included a look at ALL the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s Django flicks plus my tongue-in-cheek biography of Django.
It all started, however, with the review where I examined the original Django and two blaxploitation westerns about a former slave blowing away former Confederates in the Wild West.

The original Django sounds better than the remake.
In my opinion it IS better. And I think The Legend of Nigger Charley was a ballsier movie than Django Unchained given the time period that it came out.
Great posts as always. I’m a huge fan of Quentin Tarantino’s film and consider it a masterpiece. I thought Tarantino did such an incredible job of infusing humor into the sensitive subject matter of slavery. I’m not sure how the film compares to previous films about Django, which I will be sure to check out when I find the time. I doubt those films will be better though because what Tarantino accomplished with “Django Unchained” was truly an extraordinary achievement.
