SXU Cougars QB Jimmy Coy, Offensive Player of the Game

Sad to say, the college football playoffs and bowls for the divisions covered by Balladeer’s  Blog are all over now, except for some All-Star Games. The SXU Cougars won the NAIA football championship in the latest game of Saturday night, giving the Cougars and their head coach Mike Feminis their first national title. It’s not at all true that when Feminis hoisted the trophy over his head that he cried out “This one’s for Dianne!” (As in Zajdell, a Cougar of a different kind)

Anyway, to wrap up this year’s gridiron action here’s a final nod of recognition to the 2011 champions and the teams they played in their title matchups.

NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics ) – Champions – SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS  Runners up – CC Fighting Saints

NCAA Division 2 – Champions – PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS   Runners up – Wayne State Warriors

NCAA Division 3 – Champions – WHITEWATER WARHAWKS (Threepeat)   Runners up – Mt Union Purple Raiders

NJCAA – Champions – EAST MISSISSIPPI LIONS   Runners up – Arizona Western College Matadors

CCCAA – Champions – CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO RAMS   Runners up – Mt San Antonio College Mounties

NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association ) – No title game as such. Season ends with the Victory Bowl between 2 invitees     Victors – CAMPBELLSVILLE TIGERS    Opponent – Greenville College Panthers

  1. Woman

You must be doing your very own, L’grande sigho now that it is pretty much over for another year… I never got a chance to read them all… but those I did read, were well done!!! And as they say in the movies…. And one with the show!

  2. It’s great to see there is a National Christian College Athletic Association. Great bunch of champions here, especially the SXU Cougars from the NAIA.

  3. Glad to see the Cougars beat CC for the title! Very good to see someone new get it!

  4. The NAIA rules! Fuck the NCAA and their stupid nit-picking and playing favorites! NAIA all the way, baby!

  5. The Mounties will be back in the title game next year and will demolish the NCFA team, whoever it is!

  6. The Rams will repeat next year, probably over another overrated Mount SAC team.

  7. I’m from Chicago and the Cougars are my new favorite team!
