FIGHT POST- HALLOWEEN BLUES WITH SON OF SVENGOOLIE

No, it’s not Zonker Harris with scare makeup on, it’s Chicago’s own Rich Koz during the original 1979- 1986 run of his B-movie show Son of Svengoolie.

To help everyone get over their post- Halloween depression (I wear an orange and black ribbon to “raise awareness” about this troubling malady) here is a link to one of those great parody songs done by Sven and his musical director, Doug Scharf AKA “Doug Graves”. It was performed during a showing of Bride of Frankenstein and it’s sung to the tune of “Goin’ To The Chapel”.  Here is the link – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQ6iYn_7grc&feature=related

  1. Cute song! I’ve learned to really appreciate these American movie hosts thanks to your blog. I used to hate them, especially when that horrible Mystery Science show was on the telly over here.

    • Thank you very much! Believe it or not there was a time when Mystery Science Theater was actually funny, like from November 1988 (when it began as a local show in Minnesota) through the 1994-1995 season. After that it was all down hill. Plus it stayed on the air way too long and recycled the jokes from the show’s early years over and over and over. It’s a shame the UK only got to see the show’s horrible later years. I had stopped watching it myself by then.

  2. You provide the strangest things – I love that
    🙂

  3. Very funny! It’s easy to see how all the movie host shows that came after his 1979- 1986 show were influenced by him and Doug.

  4. You made several good points there. I did a search on the theme and found nearly all people will have the same opinion with your blog.
