DELTA STATE STATESMEN AND THE UMD BULLDOGS TOP THE NCAA DIVISION 2 TOP 25

The D2 preseason Top 25 is finally out (good thing, with games starting in less than two weeks) and the two teams who played for the National Championship last December are at the top of the poll. The Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs and the Delta State Statesmen are at number one and two, respectively, with perennial (but now Tjeerdsma-less) football power the Northwest Missouri Bearcats at number three.

The University of Sioux Falls Cougars, a team my readers enjoyed following in NAIA football, have moved up to D2 now, and ALREADY got 48 votes for the Top 25! Anyway, here’s the complete poll:

1. UMD Bulldogs … 2. DSU Statesmen … 3. NW MO Bearcats … 4. Abilene Christian Wildcats … 5. Grand Valley State Lakers … 6. UNA Lions … 7.TAMK Javelinas … 8. Augustana Vikings … T9. Albany (GA) State Golden Rams … T9. Bloomsburg Huskies … 11. Shepherd Rams … 12. Cal (PA) Vulcans … 13. St Cloud State Huskies … 14. Wingate Bulldogs … 15. Central Missouri Mules … 16. Nebraska-Kearney Lopers … 17. Mercyhurst Lakers … 18. Washburn Ichabods … 19. WTAM Buffaloes … 20. Valdosta State Blazers  … 21. Wayne State Warriors … 22. Central Washington Wildcats … 23.Kutztown Golden Bears … 24. Henderson State Reddies … T25. Hillsdale Chargers … T25. Shaw Bears
