This was the final day of the NCAA Division 3 World Series and the Chapman Panthers, with one loss already in the series, did what they had to do,defeating the unbeaten Marietta Pioneers 15-4 to force a second game. The second game was all Pioneers as Marietta eased their way to an 18-5 win, taking the 2011 national championship for D3 baseball!
NAIA – The Lee Flames knocked off the top-seeded Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles by a score of 7-4 … Concordia (CA) Eagles over the OCU Stars 7-4 (Stars elim) … LCU Chaparrals over the LSU-Shreveport Pilots (as in riverboat pilots) 3-0.
JUCO – The Iowa Western Reivers, the defending champions of JUCO Division 1 baseball, defeated the Grayson Vikings 3-2 (Vikings elim) … Potomac State Catamounts over the Seward Saints in an experimental pitcherless game 12-11 I’m kidding! (Saints elim) … Navarro Bulldogs over the Chipola Indians 3-2.
NCAA Division 2 – SCSU Owls over the Grand Valley State Lakers 8-6 (Lakers elim) … West Florida Argonauts over the Sonoma State Seawolves 5-4.
