MIKE ROSS: UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS BASEBALL COACH

CHICKASHA – Already well underway, the 2011 Drover baseball season is shaping up fairly well so far for Coach Mike Ross and his team.

A solid season to date is due in part to senior pitcher Caleb Martin, who has broken two school records already this season. Martin now holds the career wins record with 25 and career strikeouts record with 198.

“What this speaks for is just consistency throughout his four years on the mound — just continuing to prepare himself to pitch and going out and executing the game,” Ross said. “He’s been a leader the last couple of years. He’s figured it out.”

Despite the strong start, the Drovers have an uphill struggle in the Sooner Athletic Conference, which always proves to be tough competition.

“It’s just the same old Sooner Athletic Conference, where everybody is just going to battle for the top eight positions to get into the conference tournament. It makes it a lot of fun. I’m ready for it and I think our guys are too.”
