February 23rd, 1643 – Prince Rupert leads a force in a sally from Oxford, the Royalist capital during the war. His target is a munition convoy traveling westward from Farnham, but Parliamentarian spies have given warning of Rupert’s intentions and another route is taken. Prince Rupert returns to Oxford red-faced and empty- handed.
February 23rd, 1645 – More pay unrest similar to what would dog our own Revolutionary War. The Parliamentarian authorities chide Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridge for being behind in paying the Newport Pagnell garrison.
