The Indiana University Southeast Grenadiers women’s basketball team defeated Cincinnati Christian 73-37 to move their winning streak to 12 games.
The Grenadiers (23-5, 12-0 KIAC) came out strong on Senior Night but it was a junior who started quickly. Ashmere Woods scored 14 first half points and was four of six from three-point range in the first half.
The team’s five seniors all provided major contributions in the victory.
-Alden Krausse six points and eight rebounds
-Nicole Holman had six points, four rebounds and four steals
-Whitney Duncan had seven points, six assists and four steals
-Lauren Brim was strong defensively and had two points, a rebound, a block and a steal
-Morgan Hunsaker had six points and an assist
Woods led all scorers with 18 points. Heather Hassloch had 14 points for the Eagles who dropped below .500 in conference (19-10, 6-7 KIAC).
The Grenadiers shot 36 percent for the game and held CCU to 26 percent shooting and forced 26 turnovers.
The Grenadiers head to Alice Lloyd on Saturday aiming to finish their conference slate undefeated for the first time since 2008-09. They will return home on Tuesday Feb. 22 to host a KIAC Women’s Basketball Tournament First Round game.
